Can Sutton pull off a Christmas miracle at table topping Lorient? Not bloody likely.

The immense injury list is slowly reducing- Alistair Smith and ex-Orient player Harry Beautyman have both returned to action in the last couple of weeks. So there’s that as a positive. I wouldn’t say we’re going for damage limitation here, but anything that resembles a point will be a bonus

Imagine we'll have a pitch inspection Friday sometime to help Newport out, it's not going over 2°C tomorrow, today has been a mix of snow, sleet, rain, sunshine, frost and ice here hasn't looked like melting all week.

Forecast says temperatures will go up on Saturday so I think most games will be fine.

The mighty Hatters host goalscoring behemoths Gillingham. Both sides keeping one eye on cup action so far from a foregone conclusion tbf

Difficult to call whether or not our match will be on. Nothing to do with the weather though, it's just that Mansfield's recent form has been patchy and that's how they usually decide it in these situations.

If it is on, this really is a massive game. Won't get a better chance to do what we never do and back up a decent result. They're not in great form and seem to be struggling a bit

We’re holding a pitch inspection tomorrow ahead of Saturdays game, club can’t be too confident as they’re saying it’s to help the travelling fans and save them any bother, so clearly preparing for a postponement.

Forecasted for another night of -8 degrees here, so three in a row of those temperatures at night doesn’t bode well. Also not forecasted to get above freezing between now and the game. Not hopeful.

Got back into town and it's all starting to get drippy, game on for me unless something drastic happens in the next day and a bit.

Agree we simply have to get a win here, even if it's just to put that shower of a performance last home game to bed, Sterry being back is big, I like the midfield three from last week Featherstone, Sylla, Cooke and we have to stick with two upfront, if Hamilton is dizzy still then he has to stick Grey in, Ndjoli hasn't got it, Hastie is a wastie, and McDonald for my money is a winger nothing else.

Can't see a problem with the game being on,the snow & ice is now thawing.
A great chance to build on our unexpected win at Crawley, which has given fans a bit of renewed optimism, while some of our rivals have tough games.

Can't see there being an issue regarding our pitch. Our disaster at Stevenage feels an age ago now, good chance to clear it out of our system at home. Seem to remember playing Swindon on this exact weekend last season, and would take the same result. I know very little about them this season however.

it was as low as -7 at times last night - so not as confident as you about the pitch

Sprinklers on standby as we speak.

That Northampton pitch looks frozen solid. Definitely inspecting tomorrow morning for an early P-P. No chance it passes unless we get a surprise heatwave tonight.

If there is it's the first I've heard of it.

Temperature is set to go up to a scorching 4° C by kick off, plus we have those posh pitch warming light rigs (a proper one, too; not just a converted weed farm lamp thing) so I'm sure the game won't be in danger. We'll be desperate to have the game on

In all honesty it’s probably better for us if it’s off until the takeover is complete, but I’d rather it be on, so fingers crossed.

Pitch inspection at Prenton Park tomorrow too. Those more locally based think it’s probably getting called off.

We have frost covers on so unless it becomes dangerous to travel, I expect the game to be on. In regards to the outcome I have no idea as to which side will turn up.

Yeah below freezing here currently so think we’ll call it early to save you travelling

Our game is very likely to be on, we've invested in some sort of heat dome to cover the pitch - Spurs ladies play their home games at our place and last night the dome was removed and their game went ahead, so I'd very much expect our game to also go ahead.

We've got our third home sell out in a row, the club have asked the local council to grit the area around the ground and tube station too to help accomodate this, so confident we will get the game on.

As for the game, if Rob Hunt is fit I'd expect him to be back in at left back which is likely to be the only change from our last game with Bradford 2 weeks ago.

The snow was cleared and the frost covers were laid yesterday at Plough Lane. Our match should be on. Will I be there? Not bloody likely. Too cold and it's Satanage and Evans and his odious sidekick. Back at home to Newport on Boxing Day.

Would be astonished if it's not called off, it hasn't been above freezing all week, it's currently minus four outside and... we can't score goals, so playing it next year would make sense. Added excuse of Crawley travelling a long way and the surrounding areas will be icy etc.

Hopefully all our games will be off until mid January when we can get some football players in.

Ahhh it’s a shame we got 4 points in our last two to ruin this

Covers will be on so I think we should be fine, unless I’m being hopelessly optimistic

Edit - I notice Notts got a inspection later today which makes me less confident.

It's a double down bonus for me. If it's called off I should be good to get to the re-arranged match and I get to carry on with this Mansfield postponing games at their own request bit. Not been to FM for a night match before either.

Still unsure whether our game will be on. We haven’t announced any pitch inspections, and although it’ll be freezing between now and KO, covers and lamps will have been on constantly.

From recollection, the fixtures that have been called off from yesteryear were postponed due to outside areas becoming unsafe. Sort that out and it should be game on.

Big boost, Critchlow’s back. We haven’t won (I don’t think) since he got injured against Sutton - not to mention, conceding goals for fun.

GK: Harry Lewis

RB: Brad Halliday
CB: Matty Platt
CB: Romoney Critchlow
LB: Matty Platt

CM: Ritchie Smallwood
CM: Alex Gilliead

RW: Scott Banks
CAM: Harry Chapman
LW: Tyreik Wright

ST: Andy Cook

Must win for me. Lose and it’ll turn toxic tomorrow.

4-0 City. Cook x2, Wright and Chapman

Our covers come off today, seems to be a bit more doubt around it than I thought. Given the temperatures tonight I thought there would be plenty of time to thaw but it'll be how deep the frost has set over a week I guess.
