Apparently we are trying to get O'Neil on loan from Preston. Hunt from Wednesday for a fee of around 125k, and a striker from another club if that club finalises a deal for another striker.

Edit: Also hearing Hunt deal maybe off because our fees are miles apart from what Wednesday want, they have also suggested a loan but Hurst doesn't want another loan deal he wants permanent

Rakish Bingham has cut short his holiday and is on a flight to the UK.

Barrow the favourites, but Stockport and Hartlepool also interested. Ebbsfleet willing to negotiate after player expressed desire to return to league 2.

Crucial hours ahead.

Heard you’ve agreed terms for and with Harry Smith. Depends if we get the Jephcott deal over the line.

McKirdy to Hibs is now off. Will be interesting to see where his head is with that one if nobody else comes in for him.

There is a photo on twitter somewhere of what looks like Jephcott outside the County Ground. However its of him walking/running away so perhaps he's headed down the M4 after all.

We’re desperate for at least one striker but the only one we’ve been linked with is heading to League One apparently.

Scott Quigley is also heading out the door even if we don’t sign anybody apparently. Rumour is he’s off out on loan to Rochdale.
Scott Quigley confirmed on loan for the season.

Sensible signing.

Gives us an out and out target man, which will take some of the pressure off Devante Rodney, who's done reasonably well this season and is himself both big and fast, but possibly better playing off a bigger lad.

Plus we've done reasonably well with strikers from County in the past. Messrs Lambert and Le Fondre spring to mind, and 'cos I'm getting on a bit, Steve Taylor back in the eighties (42 goals in 84 games)....

Cheers, County!

We’re in desperate need of at least 2 players (a CB and a striker in particular), but probably more like 4 players by my reckoning. Have we signed anyone so far?

Nope.

I am, but not massively over confident. I do think with this manager we’ve got a good chance, but I see us struggling down the bottom end.

The way I’m looking at it is if he can keep the shit tip he took over last season up, a squad I and many others thought were certain for relegation, then he should be able to keep this seasons team up. Only concern I have is we can’t keep our players fit.

And are you?
Yeah think our squad is at least mid table. Can never know how many injuries you'll have to deal with but I don't we've got a bad squad.

We have signed Dynel Simeu on a season long loan. Seems quite highly rated.

Did he impress at Carlisle last season ?

Orient have announced a striker but it's not Jephcott. Fingers crossed he's heading our way.

Terrible signing, absolutely awful player for us, possibly the worst we've ever had.

You will surely struggle now and it shows if you sign such players.

Do you play with a front two, or least a one and one off them? Do you cross a lot into the box? Jeffers works best in a two, and he scores the vast majority of his goals in the six yard box. Not sure he has scored from a shot outside the 18 yard box. He is a poacher. A good one.

Formation varies but I have a feeling playing him alongside Jacob Wakeling could be productive. Wakeling is the pressing energetic type of forward who looks to create and is quite unselfish.

Poacher sounds fantastic to me.

If that is what you need he’ll score goals for you. Lots. He just needs the right system. Personally I think he could still do the biz at league one, he did for us last year. But we have changed our system to a one up front and two number tends, and that is simply not his game.

Conor Brann a 19 year old keeper signs after he was released by Galway United. Suspect Ward to Sutton will be announced soon enough.

Orient fans…Harry Smith, please tell me he’s not a donkey!?!

He's joined you on loan it seems until the end of the season - maybe if he does well we have a recall back clause, or it might be to do with the location as its no suprise he had his best goalscoring season when he moved back to London and lived with his family - He got homesick at Northampton.

Edit: According to Wellens, we have a recall clause for January:

The reality is a man of his size isn't really suited to how Richie Wellens wants to play, he has his uses - but pressing hard from the front pressuring defenders and having to deal with the ball at your feet alot and moving the ball about quickly isn't really his game. He's ok with the ball at his feet but not the best.

For a man of his size he wins most headers and can hold the ball up well. Not the most clinical (then again most strikers down here aren't really). My only gripe would be he doesn't put away enough chances with his head despite his size - he missed too many headed chances for me last season, he did better with his feet.

Time will tell if this will benefit us or not, for me he was still a very good and experienced option to have off the bench. He missed all of pre season injured and has been slowly getting back up to speed, he's cut a frustrated figure since coming back because he lost his place in the team. Good Luck to him, he was decent for us in the first half of last season but his form dipped (along with everyone else) when we went 15 games without a win at the start of the year.

Yeah he’s quite good. Fast, big, athletic, but not great in the air given his size. Seemed to get better the more he played at this level.
