With all this excitement about Dennis, Hemmings and Kellet, it seems to have gone under the radar that Martyn Woolford has signed on for another season. :dk:

Watch out league 2

Did I miss the announcement of Kane Hemmings' wages?

Well if the lad was on £6k at oxford and we paid half his wages which while here and we offered an amount “not far off” according to our CEO, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to fathom the details

You’ve got You saying this, the Viking magpie on his own for 2 hours after the game, what do they teach you down there?

Kane Hemmings will not be taking a 50% paycut to join Notts County.

It’s great NCFC are providing so much activity on here and discussion. We’ll do the early business in the transfer market and then no doubt someone else will take over the baton and prove the big talking point re transfers.

Be positive , be grateful

Wage talk is boring ain’t it, but i’d be bloody astonished if Kane Hemmings (or anyone for that matter) was on £6k a week at Oxford United. I think people generally grossly overestimated how much League One and Two players are paid.

Mansfied were paying 50% wages and that is around £3000.

Paul Anderson is on £3500, hence why Flitcroft wants rid.

I think you are grossly underestimating how much L1/2 players are paid.

Or how’s much we were paying them under Evans. Oxfords chairman commented that he was on £6k also which was a massive drain for basically a dud.

If he was on £6k a week at oxford and we offered not far off the half we were paying it’s really not a challenging mathematical equation to solve. He’s hardly going to reject not far off at Mansfield to take £1500 a county is he

Yep Jones is class, would be gutted if he left
I always liked Dan Jones. Quick, good left foot, reliable at the back and if caught out has the pace to get back. He just breaks down more times than my 13 y/o Fiesta is the only problem with him.

They are big big wages for a club with an average attendance of four and a half thousand!

I personally have no idea what L1/L2 wages look like nowadays. Not a clue. However, 8 years ago I saw the basic wage of every member of the NCFC playing staff and remember being surprised how low they were. Save for the top 3 earners (£1500-1700 pw) the rest were modest at best.

Anderson could join Evans at Posh. Know that he rates Evans a lot more than Flitcroft.

Other way round according to a bloke that spoke to him at the awards due.

I think it’s more a case that Flitcroft does not rate Anderson hence him being on the transfer list (few clubs bidding on him I think too)

can't remember ever learning how to quantify the term 'not far off'

(6000/2) - not far off = x

Either way, we're winning the league this year - just look what happened to that great club that did loads of early business last year and splashed the cash...

To be fair our owner is tight and we paid Pope around 4K a week in league two when he had his Messi like season to ward off interest before he went Bury.

Feel for Anderson a bit, from the same town as me so his career gets followed in the local press. Seems to always get injured and slowly sliding down the pyramid. Recall Vale asking fans years ago to help advise if they knew any young players... ie armchair scouting so recommended him to Martin Foyle when Anderson was a Liverpool player... they watched him and felt he was too weak... season later he was on loan at Swansea winning promotion!

Are Notts County doing that boom or bust thing them and Bury do every so often?

The meltdown on OVF is quite funny and causing a huge debate that we’ve shown a huge lack of ambition that we didn’t go back with a forth bid now he’s gone to a league two club but for us £150k plus would be stupid. £100k was and ok bid but we’ve gone looking elsewhere since last week when rejected and I back Smurf on that one.

Had we signed him we’d have had probably the best strike force in the league with Pope and Dennis but no one to feed them if we spunked all the budget on it! (Let’s be honest he’s not going to blow the huge sell on for Hugill into it is he)

Having Pope who is as good as Dennis and a 20 goal a season striker anyway means we are better if over inflated to focus on the key areas, ideally a nippy striker and a number 10, see what the Peterborough bids bring us. I can understand County paying that much because they don’t have that in their squad currently. Luckily we did or we’d be with Chesterfield right now in the NL!

Smurfs a clown and to blame for most of this mess but some fans would blame anything on him regardless.

You were top of the league at some stage thos year too - didn’t do you much good - like us being favourites for the league didn’t do us any good. Like your fat chairman, maybe you’ve got like lightheaded.

If you can confidently predict that when accrington came from nowhere, then fair play

Embarrassing. Same thing happens every season , it’s a couple of what looks like on the face of it , half decent signings in L2 and it causes , unnecessary envy, apparent turmoil and questions about general Football finances and stating known player wages.

Collectively on these subjects , we know jack sh*t! If it was another L2 club doing this NCM would of reacted exactly the same as OVF.

Bookies aren’t interested 12/1

Tbf, it's been a good season financially. High gates, play offs, FA Cup run.... Record sponsorship. Sold youth player to Liverpool

Yet still losing thousands every month, or so Hardy was saying not long ago. I'd wait for the accounts before pronouncing.

Someone has missed the clear irony in the original post

Well said g_b.

Youpies is correct the income/turnover at the club last season was well above what the relatively youthful and slimline Magpies chairman and board could of anticipated. No club factors in cup runs (we had one), nor significant money from televised games (we had them), nor play off income (we received a proportion of those 50,000 in attendance) add onto that more pay at the gate supporters every single home game than we were probably expecting, some very successful marketing of special offer (aka cheap) games which were received by the Nottingham public very positively.
Offfield our setup is better than most in this league with our established facilities so I imagine that was up on previous seasons too.

The only thing we don’t know as mere fans is the otherside of the coin, expenditure.

Even if we did at this stage , you would need to examine in detail due to the type of possible associated costs/expenses.

It’s not as simple as purely, club X lost £1.5m the last financial year. It never is, companies house gives you headline info only

Cowleys back from their holidays next week so we'll maybe announce some signings and everyone can go back to having a go at Lincoln.

Let’s be honest. Almost all fans want their club to spend the cash whether they actually can afford it or not. Only when it all goes tits up do they complain - or doesn’t work out a la Bury.

Mansfield, for example, could buy the England squad but Flitcroft would still fuck it up.

And just to add, I'd not be surprised if we are paying Freck, Bostwick and maybe Eardley not far off the £3k that Hemmings is supposedly on, before anyone says anything. Despite the Checkatrade win and huge attendances, we are apparently on course to make a £250k loss this year. Rather worrying, although that's just what the CEO mentioned to a fan and I'll wait til I get the accounts before commenting further.

We also presumably still have the FA Cup money in the bank from last year to cover it and the CEO is making us much more commercially savvy, eg. maximising income from season tickets by creating more prawn-sandwich packages, changing catering contract and putting in more bars and food outlets around the ground. I imagine our new shirt sponsor will be paying more than Bishop Grot Uni were given that was a Conference era contract.

The commercial side of things is massive, and we ourselves have made massive improvements in the last few years, you simply can't afford not to do it.

Same as you, better deals, more sponsorship, more bars and outlets (well as many as possible) the Sandy Pate is now open all week and does well. Fans will always be prepared to pay a "little" extra if they know the money is going to the club than just a bar in town

Elliott Whitehouse being linked with Grimsby and Mansfield. He's about Grimsby's level but Mansfield should be looking for better if they see themselves as promotion candidates. He apparently is after more first team football, which suggests Danny has told him he's not going to be a regular this year (and means we must be signing a couple of central midfielders with Woodyard gone). He's hard-working and pops up in good places in the box but technically his touch is poor. And worst thing is he wears gloves nearly all year round. :ffs:
