Amazing for us once this goes through...

It won’t change our transfer incomings too much as we will spread the money into the academy and make sure the club can survive long term. Plus I think we will want to further improve the pitch and training facilities.

That said, we should be able to bring in a couple more this window to give us a better chance over the season. Think we need another CB and another striker. Would love Tschimanga from Boreham Wood but that’s probably unlikely.

The number of times we've relaid the pitch at SJP is beyond a joke. 3 times in ten years now? I'd frankly rather we built an indoor pitch at cat & fiddle than piss money up the wall on relaying the SJP pitch yet again. It seems to last about 3 years whatever we do. Just tell Clive to buy a job lot of grass seed from Chinese eBay and be done with it.

Don't think we need another striker. Just get Ajose finally firing and give him a proper chance (scored today) with MJ and Bowman I think we do have goals in our team.

If Ajose was given the chance I’d agree but MT clearly doesn’t see him in his plans, so we do need someone else.

After Ajose scored tonight I’d expect him in the squad for Saturday but if he’s left out then that shows we will need someone else.

I think Taylor wants us to really upgrade the pitch and go for something similar to what Argyle have, which is far better than anything we’ve done before. It’s costly, mind.

There’s more to come as well apparently, including a senior signing who will ‘peek our interest’, you’d guess it’ll be a centre forward, god knows who.

It's pique. The spelling, not the player.

According to ITK on Brentfords forum..

So my understanding of how the fee gets broken down is:

"£28m. 3.5% to Exeter (taken off the price by Villa and paid to Exeter direct) = £980,000

Remaining £27,020,000 paid to BFC

We pay 20%(?) of profit to Exeter:
Profit is 27,020,000 - 1,800,000 = 25,220,000
20% = 5,044,000

Exeter therefore get: £6,024,000
Bees get: £21,976,000"

Add on the £1.8m we got upfront... Total sale of £7.8m for a league two player. Incredible.

Potential for it to go up another £1m if Ollie activates all the £5m sell on fees for Brentford, too.
Unbelievable for Exeter. Absolutely superb. But, these insane transfer fees have got to stop.*

*I know I’m pissing in the wind...

Whilst the figures are amazing, and well done to Exeter on getting the windfall - it's not because of what he did in League 2 though is it? Had he gone to Brentford and failed you'd be getting the grand total of nothing (apart from the original £1.8m, which in itself is a fantastic fee for a League 2 player). So Villa paying what they are is entirely on what he's done in the Championship.

Watkin is the modern day Dick Pymm . 100 years ago Exeter sold Dick Pymm to Bolton for £5ooo.
With that money they bought St James Park.
With this windfall Exeter can clear debts. Maybe improve St James Park and invest a little money in the squad.
With a little luck they may reach the play offs and may even now gain promotion for the second time in 100 years.

Well we did turn down offers of more than £1.8m upfront so you could argue he was worth more than at L2 level, the point I was making was that the sale that we made with Brentford for a L2 player is now likely to surpass £7m in total, that's astonishing.

He improved at Brentford hence the stupid price villa will pay. If a player scores 50lge goals in div2 you may get 5m for him. It is only when they go up the leagues will anyone pay stupid money for them.
Enjoy the windfall but unless you get a Saudi Billionaire you will never go to Wembley in a major final or watch your team in Europe like i fortunatly have.

I rate that 2/10 didn't even bother checking Wikipedia first before attempting to troll.

Not trolling.....truthful facts....Exeter a team with no ambition through the ages. The stats tell you that
Zzzzz bore off mate. Bolton living on former glories from 80 years ago before your parents were even born. Now just another northern shitehole suburb in Manchester. Enjoy lockdown. :£

I think you need to check your ‘facts’.

Oh and history counts for little...You’re here on merit and judging by your recent results, you may be here for some time yet.

Having switched him to ignore out of secondary embarrassment, I'd be grateful if people stopped biting and replying so we can all move on.

Your ‘fact’ was: “With a little luck they may reach the play offs and may even now gain promotion for the second time in 100 years.”

We’ve had promotions in 63/64, 76/77, 89/90 (champions) and 08/09. Is that enough proof? Ok so it’s not a huge number but it just shows you spout utter bollocks.

Anyway, it’s the last I’m going to comment on anything that’s not transfer related on this thread, as it’s been de railed enough.

What use is history when you end up in the basement with us? We're both playing Harrogate in the league this season. Your glories of 80 years ago have served you well...... Lol

Please do not speak for us as Exeter fans saying we have neither contributed anything to our clubs history.. Just because you haven't for Bolton.

We're a fan owned club mate, we literally have contributed to the history of Exeter City as fans and trustee's. The largest fan run club in English football. The fans ARE Exeter City.
