Is it only me who thinks Devitt is shit? Might have had a half decent season but he's not really had one before and never impressed when he's played against us. Only reason I know who he is because he kept standing infront of our keeper a few years back to try and put him off by jumping up and waving his arms about.

Devitt off to Portsmouth apparently. Shocking. Not. Davis and his media mates making a fuss about signing a half decent player, who was probably never really going to come, in order to make it look like we're some sort of ambitious (copyright Ryan Lowe) catch to players.

Same shit, different summer.

Pretty backpage spread for the Chronicle though.

Can't see any of the Portsmouth rags reporting about it. Apparently was a rumour spouted by one Portsmouth fan that our friend @crewenews365 then twisted and added his own trademark melodramatic response to. (lol)

But seriously he'd be a fool to go to Portsmouth because he wouldn't even get in that side on either wing. If he does then he's just going for the money. If I'm right, Pompey's manager released him from Chesterfield in League Two for not being good enough!

Obviously I agree Davis and Morse love giving us false hope so as a result I still think he'll go elsewhere, just not Portsmouth.

Lambe is decent but, as with every other winger at this level, flatters to deceive.

Good pace and seems to pop up in good positions but doesn't really get at his full back like a winger should.

Overall, I would have been pleased to have him stay but as a squad player, nothing more.

I remember that game well, your keeper made an amazing save from Ross Hannah's header at 0 - 0 then Matt Rhead came on as sub and scored straight away then to rub it in someone scored a corker to make it 2 - 0, probably the only 2 chances you had all night, very long drive home that one.

Watch the penno lambe gives away in this.... you've signed a donkey who occasionally scores a tap in and runs in circles a lot. Don't think he's ever actually got down the wing beat a man and put a cross in.. No great loss.

With Adams and Devitt signed I reckon Lambe will be a squad player, but you never know. He might just hit the ground running here.

Ibehre wasn't a goal scorer until he joined us.

So who has actually signed a decent player this summer then...?

I genuinely have no idea what any of these players being discussed are like. It's very hard to keep tabs of who is decent at this level because they are all basically dross unless they break out of an academy and eventually end up moving to a championship club.

WOW just WOW

First we sign Lambe from Mansfield who, going by the comments of Mansfield fans on here, it looks as if he's their greatest ever player, I know you're bitter about us signing him but great players deserve better.

THEN to sign Jaimie Devitt who along with Nicky Adams is another assist king from this league is just fantastic!

Lambe isn't as shit as most Stags fans will make out, he could be a very good player but his end product isn't always there. What Nick is getting at is that he isn't your old fashioned winger like Matty Blair who just runs at full backs, he's more of a modern wide man who likes to float into central positions and is much better technically. He can play either flank or as a number 10, can't really say where he plays best.

I liked Reggie and I thought Murray was starting to improve him as a player, he was unlucky not to grab a few more goals IIRC he hit the woodwork a few times towards the end of the season. But I think Muzz got frustrated with his International commitments throughout the season with Bermuda as he often wasn't in the side for 3 games and then needed a rest. So with the small-ish squad we're hoping to run with I just don't think Murray thought it was worth chasing him despite liking him as a player.

I think Lambe was infuriating, but loveable at the same time.

Too many times last season he went AWOL, as Alan says had the random internationals with Bermuda seemed to have been causing a little bit of a problem - Murray mentioned as much in the middle of the season.

The reason he was loveable was his knack of scoring important goals, the one against Tranmere was IMO one of the most important goals in our recent history given it's context.

Ultimately, a nice lad, a bit meh, has a knack of scoring important goals, but not a player you'd expect in a top 7 side.

I really liked Lambe, as I mentioned in the rumours thread. Really wish we'd have done more to keep him as he's a really useful player at this level.

As the others have said, he's not going to hug the touch line & beat players, hes more of a Lallana type winger, who comes inside & looks for a pass.

Good luck to him, hope he does well.

I feel Nicky Adams would class as a decent player, having been a big part of this season's runaway title side.

Reasonably happy with our signings so far, Curle has brought in some decent attacking options. It's nice we've got a chunk of our business done already.

Adams and Devitt are great signings on paper. The other three will be as hit and miss as any other League 2 signings, one or two will do well and one or two won't.

Devitt especially has got me excited though, not often we have a player like him and I had a feeling he might go up a league. Nice that we appear to have nicked him off Crewe and potentially Portsmouth as well.

Nicking him off us isn't that great, if you can offer more than half a packets of Wotsits and a can of Redbull you'll win.:lol:

Second signing of the day is Josh Doherty, a young left back from Watford.

No, me neither.

We've sold Adam Webster to Ipswich for 750k plus Matt Clarke. We had Clarke on loan from Ipswich last season and he played at CB with Webster on a few occasions. I think it's a good deal for both teams, Webster has potential (I'm sure we've put a clause in) and will become a decent Championship defender in time. Clarke was in and out of the team last season but played a big part in our promotion push and I fully expect him to be in the back four come August. Pleased with the fee to, our snooze reporting it at 500k plus but BBC stating 750k, either way is a decent amount.

Devitt and Adams supplying Ibehre and Wyke. They should just hand us the title now...

Who else made up the top 3 in assists last season, can we sign him too?

I hope Wyke stays fit for the whole season, with that service I'd fancy him to improve on his decent goal scoring record so far with us.
