Hes the highest scoring ignored member on here top of the table ,or it might be that all of us are wrong and he might be normal nah its him hes weird

89% , impressive.

Back on topic and I'm surprised out sunburnt Scot hasn't mentioned this but:

Central midfielder Dan Gosling has joined us on a short-term deal, subject to EFL approval.

Gosling, 33, has signed until 6 January.

I remember him at Everton and Bournemouth , not too long ago.

Thanks for helping out Dan

We’ve suddenly signed Dan Gosling on a contract until Jan. Seems like a deal that works for everyone, he’s been linked with Champ/L1 clubs a lot so is presumably still looking higher and we won’t want to commit to a third mid-30s midfielder on a longer contract but are absolutely desperate for someone who can play now and see us through until January.

The clever computer system at Notts has pulled another unknown gem out the bag like the raw finds of David McGoldrick, John Bostock, Jodi Jones etc. I remember them doing similar with Harry Arter in the NL a few seasons ago.

When he came back from his 5 year hiatus when he’d decided to support Forest instead I took him off ignore as I thought he might’ve changed.

He hadn’t.

We love this kind of signing. Arter (who is still at Forest collecting his £40k a week somehow) just wanted to get fit for his wedding so we were like ‘okay then’.

This is just desperation, though. Imagine we were ringing round every free agent midfielder last week.

I know we get the piss taken out of us for our recruitment and the nerdiness of it all but the hit rate has been really good the last few years.

On ignore but still talking about me!

There is obsessed, there is internet obsessed and then there is fishy obsessed.

After 4 years on #stain exile I had no idea who you were, understandably forgotten all about but clearly you've kept a special place in your heart. Big heart, thin skin that lad.

Hold on I'm on ignore so he won't even read this  so might as well go back on topic and talk about rumours and signings.

Harry Arter was a very similar signing but boy is he not in the same class of success rate as the aforementioned. He started great but quickly declined once he approached his big day.

As for Gosling, we needed anyone, I have no idea what he's been up to since Bournemuff but I'll take a seemingly active Championship player who importantly can fit out system and is very very tidy on the ball

I love this computer thingy.

Welcome Dan, thanks for helping the world's oldest professional club out. Your grandkids will be proud(ish)

The piss taking is that it's just not nerdy at all. It's signing high profile players on what will be massive wages.

Yeah Notts don't pay big wages (just ignore any evidence to the contrary) , but of course they never declare their wage bill so it's all guess work.

Guesswork is more than good enough for internet football forums you know that.

How much is say John Bostock on a week?

He's out of contract on no wage at the moment, unemployed, as was Bostock. They'll likely not be cheap but I doubt we're paying mega bucks.

I suspect our average wage is pretty high, but our overall wage bill will be relatively modest compared to you lot (for example) because we have such a small squad every year.

Bald men fighting over combs in this thread when Mansfield, Wrexham and Stockport are commenting about wages. Just need Gills and Bradford to complete the set

I think it's a try before you buy thing for both the player and the club... At 33 coming off a big injury I can't see too many League One or Championship teams being interested unless desperation kicks in

Notts need more depth so it works for both parties

Well put it this way you offered him more than we did and he wasn’t on peanuts with us

We signed him about four months after he’d turned down a deal with you and he was just kicking about Nottingham not doing anything…

Which doesn’t make what you said definitely not true, it just might well not be.

I would imagine only Stockport are anywhere near us realistically (guesswork but I'd imagine we overspent to get people to drop to the NL last season) . But as for the rest there are some teams spending a lot of money in this division, Notts included.

That said I wouldn't think Gosling is going to break the bank on his two month contract. If he's match fit he should be a great singing for this level.

I know it's only a two month contract but I'm just thinking of all the balls, bibs, equipment etc that could have been fed back into the grassroots of the game when you add up the reported Gosling weekly wage.

Could they have maybe put it back into the community? Each club has their own prerogative and we have to respect that.

No way near. We're 5th highest apparently. The league tell you your placement but not the clubs. I had the 4 above us to be Wrexham, Mansfield, Gillingham and Salford. We might be 6th now with this 2 month bender Notts County have just embarked on.

I was told Notts County fan David McGoldrick wasn't the top earner at the club. Probably just a guess but doesn't sound unrealistic, he's earned more than enough whilst playing in the Premier League, Championship and for Derby.

Would love to know the top 10 wages for League 2. See how many and who interupt the Wrexham dominance.

Leave us out of this.
Harris has already said our wage bill is not in the top 6 in this division
