I didn't say I wanted to discuss where teams were going to finish either, I just said who do we think will be at either end. It's not as if we have no information at all on which to base our expectations for next season, most of the managers and players will be the same.

If you don't want to discuss it then don't, you've made your point... but then also offered your thoughts on Exeter's plans for the transfer window so :dk:
I said about the transfer budget I havent said which end we will 'finish' because I neither know the league we will be in or who we will be competing against or what that budget will actually do for us this transfer window.

Notts County and Mansfield anyone?

I don't think it was a blip but I don't think it was indicative of the quality of the team either. We started a bad run of form and then just changed as a team and couldn't get out of the losing habit. That needs addressed but at the same time I don't think we would have started such a bad run if we didn't go into February with such issues of fitness.
Maybe it wouldn’t have happened without the break. But is it not a concern that we couldn’t get out of the rut?

Even in a promotion season, I’d expect a team will go through a bad spell of form. Cambridge did this season if I remember right, but they pulled themselves out of it.

If we hadn’t had such a good first half of the season, even if we’d been in say 10th position in January, this second half of the season would have left us in big big trouble.

I am concerned, but I think if we recruit certain players that can change the way we approach games and give us another dimension, it will be useful.

Depends how far into that run of poor form you say we stopped losing games because we were lacking fitness and started losing games because we were stuck in the rut. I don't think losing a few games because of fitness issues outside our control is the only reason we ended up going on a poor run of form or that one win from 13 before turning the corner is acceptable but I think that going a month with players ill, not having a training ground and games being postponed was the difference between having a blip like Cambridge and Cheltenham did and pulling ourselves out of it and having a much bigger issue that we couldn't turn around in time.

You're the one saying that discussing next season means making predictions.
I think you're reading the title and totally ignoring the OP. Discussing where teams will finish is evidently a prediction. Do you want me to link you the Oxford dictionary of such definition or would you prefer merriam webster?

And you think you can stipulate where teams will finish at the end of the season already? The teams that could end up in L2 are 150% more than the actual total in the league, combined with no idea on squads.

Good on you.

If that's how you've understood the OP, then fair enough. Everyone else has told you you're wrong.

Do you want a dictionary definition of the word "expectation"?

You had a similar argument over the word "famous" yesterday. Something tells me you're an anal prick.

If you don't want to indulge in a lighthearted discussion about what your hopes and expectations are for your club over the next 12 month, then don't. Just don't be shitty about it.

And probably best you stop posting on a football forum, as almost every discussion is about what we think might happen.

Not sure if you need a lesson on the English language or what not, but discussing where teams will finish and the upcoming season is evidently pointless [AND A PREDICTION] when nobody knows who is going to be in the team or what transfers are going to be made (Yes i know that part is part of the discussion). If you want to try and pretend discussing/predicting CL winners when they're in the semi final stages already is even remotely similar to predicting next season in L2 in April, then you stick to your guns fella. You tried to make a pathetic comment just so you could chuck in a sly dig for the sake of it, now you've got egg on your face.

In response to the OP, Barrow to be relegated on less than 25 points.
Talking of predictions how is your prediction of Exeter getting into the Auto’s going dude?

And we all thought Mr Logic in Viz was a far-fetched comedy creation.
It’s probably no surprise though that he doesn’t like predictions as for all his years on here I don’t think he’s ever got one right.

Well I was only a few months off getting it right this season, so I'm going with the same prediction.

You obviously didn't factor in the fact that we have a policy of selling our better players whenever possible these days, and this January replaced them with kids on loan.

We haven't actually been top at any point this season, and tbh rarely looked anything like a title winning side even when doing well. Mid table squad heading for a mid table finish. Expect more of the same next season, which is still nothing to complain about, given how I'm still used to us scrapping for survival in the Conference. We are miles off being a league 1 club.

Spot on mate. One of the things that gave me pause when they were after Cooper's head was while I know all the issues why people wanted rid he was getting more than the sum of its parts out of a bang average squad.

Why do you think we'll win the league next season. We're almost certain to have another huge turnover of players and a new manager who could literally be anyone, especially as Vince seems tempted to go for a publicity stunt type of appointment.
Too early to make that statement about next FGR manager, far too early.
Under Mark Cooper's reign FGR did have a huge turnover of playing staff, but new manager might want stability. There are apparently around 100 candidates for job so fans can expect a prestige appointment, whether female or male, black or white. I don't care who it is, as long as they continue the upward progress of club. And, of course, let the team play attractive football.
Dale's Achilles Heal is timing. He has sacked last two managers near end of season when they had both got FGR into play-off position. And it looks likely FGR will not be promoted on either occasion. Dale should have sacked them earlier or waited till end of season.

I didn't factor absolutely anything into my prediction, so yes you're right about that. However, I'm the only person that has predicted anything so I'm in the lead and that's all that counts.

Talking of which, isn't it getting a bit late for you to put up your league 2 predicted table thread for 21/22? You'd normally have done it long before now, slacking off this year it seems...

Was actually thinking of that this morning, not sure if it's within my jurisdiction now though?

Don't suppose there is any chance of a response to my genuine question Devon_Lad ?

Best of luck with increasing your trust membership, it isnt for everyone (Wrexham sold out when Ryan Reynolds fluttered his eyebrows) but its suited us well these last 15 years.

I do wonder if either Swindon or BRovers could go straight through. Neither appear to be particularly well run....

Always thought Rovers at least had a wealthy owner backing them. Might be wrong on that though.

FGR spent at least one week at the top in early 21 didn't they?

Hard to say at this stage, Wigan come down they’ve got big backing now, Wrexham too but if both fail and Salford go up it’s less to worry about.

I expect us to spend this summer, we’ve revealed a vote is about to take place on the squad cap compromise being 22 outfield players over 21 and are voting for it so that may boost things in terms of who we offer deals too.

Obviously the current form is excellent and shows the vast improvement AC/DC and Flitcroft have put into the current squad, with big investment off the field to improve the structure following the failings this season we will hope to challenge... but have been burnt this season so will have to see how our summer goes!

Nah, there was at least one (maybe two) occasions on which if we'd won a game we'd have gone top, but of course we didn't. We might have been top at half-time one week, maybe, but by the time full time was upon us we'd lost it. We were second for well over a month, though.

Just look up the word. The English language is very exact with its meanings of words. Plenty of others on this thread have explicitly used the word prediction in their replies.

Famous debate yesterday was in relation to our No.9 shirt that was famously retired for 9 years in respect to Adam Stansfield. Now we can debate famous until you're blue in the face but it was reported nationally at the time and you'll find it difficult to find anyone in Exeter that wasn't aware of it. People call local shops famous to the area if they are well known. 'That bakery over there is famous for its pasties'

If you want to debate words, their meanings and interpretations then both of these issues you aren't going to win. England isn't like other languages it is very precise and one of the best languages in the world because of it. It's beautiful and people like you bring it to shame.

Yep, we seemed allergic to going top, not sure how many chances we had but you could guarantee we would find a way not to win whenever it was on.
