Shoddy, I wonder if the financial effect of the past year could have a significant effect on next season? It is possible some teams will be very close to going under, and won’t be able to afford a deep squad. For example, if what the Swindon fans say is true they may well struggle whereas two seasons ago in League 2 they were excellent. Of course what we don‘t necessarily know is which clubs are on their bare bones.

There is a forum with Mark and Nicola Palios on facebook that should give us a big clue where Tranmere stand.

In seriousness i’d be quietly confident in how we will go about business under clough this summer.

He’s sustained experience and success at this level, and him travelling to scotland midweek last week after the win over scunthorpe says it all about his commitment.

if we had a tilt at the playoffs i’d be happy, i don’t think we will be bothering the lower half of the table.

Distancing not needed at big events, PM to be told

Social distancing can be scrapped from June 21 for large events, the Prime Minister will be told next week. It follows initial results from a pilot scheme that found no spike in Covid cases among attendees. An interim report into the trials will advise Boris Johnson that crowds can return safely and without social distancing - provided measures such as staggering entries and good ventilation are used. Government scientists have been monitoring the impact of letting fans back into the FA Cup semi-final, Carabao Cup final and the snooker World Championships. Conclusions based on the early data are contained in the report and covering note to be given to ministers next week.

That is from the Telegraph and should clear things up a bit and enable clubs to plan a bit more once it's announced.

A pub near me has been crowded at weekends. They have about 20 tables in the car park but there looked to be about 200 there one day. Luckily the weather has been a bit crap so its kept most of them in their cages this week.
Nobody socially distances properly anymore anyway.

Based on the last few seasons, which are the only ones that count.
2/4 this (probably)
1/3 last
0/4 year before

27%

If we get up, I'd expect to stay up at least. The board want to go up again as soon as possible, which I doubt they can expect without some sort of financial backing, given teams like Sunderland pay mega money at that level.

I lost respect for it all when dominic cummings drove up to durham to test his eye sight.

The government found out 2 days before the public and those 2 days to come up with a believable story and that’s the best they could come up with

Our directors seem to be of the opinion that everything is going well, despite coronavirus and the collapse of Edinburgh Woolen Mill. They recently stated that player sales, ifollow, government grants and support from the Prem has covered the losses in gate reciepts.

Reading between the lines though, our new shirt sponsor will be a local contruction company and the way it was announced, thanking them for stepping in after EWM's collapse makes me suspect they won't be paying what EWM were paying and we're just happy to have someone on board. The loan EWM made to us is now owned by a successor company who have someone on our board of directors, we're supposed to presume that it won't be called in but the debt still exists in any case.

We've claimed for a long time that we have a bottom six budget at this level and often just sound happy to be solvent, but we don't need to do too much in the transfer market this summer having assembled a squad from scratch last summer. Chris Beech says he hopes that '98%' of the current squad will still be with us next year.

We need a entire new defence, including a GK and a new frontline, so it’s a very important summer.

Happy with midfield, if we keep Quinn.

Rumours around at our end that the delightful Mr Evans might be heading to Swindon.

I honestly can’t see anything in that. We don’t even know who will own the club next month, we don’t know if we will start the season with a points deduction (which will put managers off). I think he is using his friendship with Power as a bargaining chip with Scally on budgets, his wage etc.

He’s under contract here for next season, so I don’t really know what’s going on. He doesn’t have a habit of sticking around anywhere long though, perhaps he wants out.

Maybe. But what on earth is the attraction of our soap opera club?

Maybe his mate Power has offered him an extra brown envelope or two, who knows. How do your fans feel about him?

Like most fans. He’s an odious twat but, with a bit of backing, a decent manager.

Depends on what people think is more important.

Anyway, it ain’t happening.

of course, the midfield is going to be the key to success.

The defence, GK and upfront problem is a lot to resolve over one summer.

Not ready any of this thread, but isn’t it far far too early to be making predictions?

Lots of variables about who will be here, how much money we will all have and player arrival/departures. So I took the general idea to be a ' what your team needs to fix more than 'if we sign such and such we'll piss the league' type thread.

Frinstance I reckon Crawley need a back to goal striker and to revamp our midfield. I have not said we need to sign, I don't know, Joe Piggott from Wimbledon for instance. It's more general stuff.

Because things didn't go according to plan this season with us not winning the league.

We will now become a part time club for next season and get relegated by January.

Isn't that right hellogregory?
