Tough one for us on Tuesday. Luton starting off with 2 draws and us 1 win and 1 loss and to be honest 1 shocking performance and 1 fantastic performance. Another draw could be on the cards for Luton and Id be happy with that

I predict a 1-1 draw or 2-1 either way. Don't think they'll be much in it.

Surely the Mighty Bristol Rovers will be bringing their famed 50,000 travelling supporters for a game against the self-titled big boys of the division? 400 is the kind of support tiny clubs like Barnet take to away grounds.:dk:

Here, fishie fishie... You only brought 292 on New Year's Day!

Brizzle City had 427 for the cup game, so Rovers do have a target to aim for... Shame it's a midweek tie really, I imagine they'd have brought more than Oxford if it was on a Saturday.

under the lights at the Kennel is often a good game regardless of who we play, as long as the opposition fans,no matter of their numbers, contribute to the atmosphere unlike some....???

I heard the downfall that day flooded streets, homes and the lives of thousands of Londoners - travelling to Luton was still a worse choice than staying in their ruined homes. Infact the whole of Southern England was flooded up to neck height - everywhere except the Kennelworthless Road pitch, apparently :gr:

Bristol Rovers are 20 games unbeaten on the road. :bl: Suppose it has to come to an end some time.

Trevor Kettle is the referee - say no more. His last appearance in a competitive game here was "memorable" to say the least. His remonstrations with Kevin Nicholls at and after the end of the game earned the player a five game ban, as well as there being a punch up in the tunnel after Kettle had given a very questionable penalty in injury time for Bradford to equalise 3-3 in a game we had to win in our -30 season.

Tiny clubs like Barnet who beat other tiny clubs like Dover last season... :bdick:

I do hope you beat Luton though. Just hope your fans don't go kicking off like they did all last season when the Luton thugs start throwing coins and abuse at you.

Nice to get three away points on Saturday, another set on Tuesday and we'll equal our number of away wins from 2013/14

My opinions towards Luton at the moment are a bit mixed. Pre-season expectations tell us this is a tough game, yet the draw at Accrington and the manner at which they conceded late against Oxford tells me there might be something in it for us if we play like we did yesterday.

Should be a good one, frustratingly not able to make it at the last minute. Would have been a new ground too! Hope we can put another good performance in and put Northampton behind us a little bit.

Think it's a good thing we've got a game so soon after Saturday.

Be very interested to see what changes are made, whether Tyler remains in goal (personally think he should) and Griffiths who seems to have been marked out for blame after Saturday which I'm pretty baffled by to be honest. Thought the 352 worked quite well on Saturday, especially first half but players like Green, who you'd expect to be a big player for us this year, really don't fit in that system. I want to see us play with the intensity and tempo which we did first half on Saturday, very few teams could live with that at this level but we seems to revert to type, smack it long to an isolated striker at the slightest bit of pressure.

Not sure what to expect from Bristol Rovers, we haven't played for so long. Their away record is fantastic so should be a tough game (aren't they all it seems!).

I think we might lose this 1-0 with Rovers giving a classic away performance. Probably very pessimistic but i just can't shake the negative way we went about that second half on Saturday.

Looking forward to this one, especially after yesterday's result. Not sure what to expect from Kenilworth Road as I have never been before, but hopefully it'll be a good atmosphere and a decent Gas away following.

It should be a good game and I hope we can perform as well as we have in the last two matches. If we do, we give ourselves every chance of taking something back to Bristol.

You can't beat a play-off final win at Wembley and I'm sure we pocketed an awful lot more money than you picked up, so I think we did it the best way in the end mate. You can keep the title, I wouldn't change it for the world now! ;)

It's weird , because it feels like we should have played each other loads . Obviously circumstances have got in the way . Should be a good night at an old school ground under lights . Beats being away at Telford anyway:lol:

Fancy we'll line up like this (but again, it could be anything!):

GK Mark Tyler
RW Stephen O'Donnell
LW Dan Potts
CB Steve McNulty
CB Scott Cuthbert
CB Luke Wilkinson
CM Cameron McGeehan
CM Pelly Ruddock
CM Paddy McCourt
CF Craig Mackail-Smith
CF Jack Marriott

Subs: Elliot Justham, Scott Griffiths, Alex Lawless, Luke Guttridge, Danny Green, Paul Benson, Josh McQuoid.

Don't think Doyle or Smith have shown enough so far to warrant a place in the starting XI, the former seems to be half a yard off the pace. Griffiths was singled out and although I love him as a player, I think Still will prefer Potts. It says a lot about our squad this season that Lawless and Guttridge, who have played such an instrumental part in our side in recent seasons haven't played a minute (barely a minute if not true) of football so far this season, and that Danny Green and Josh McQuoid can't get in the starting XI either.

Yeah all my jibes are worth nothing now that you followed us up here (even less as early doors you've settled better than us) but I'm still going to make them :box:

Just beat Luton so I atleast have one good thing to say about your lot!

Can someone fill me in on the faux pas that Griffiths is supposed to have committed? I think I must have
missed it.

There must be a few other players far more directly culpable for the equaliser than him so I'm a bit confused as to why he has been singled out.

Just seen a video of the build up and if anything it should be Smith getting a bollocking. He was the last Luton player to give it away, with a typically poor clearance, not Griffiths. So even more confuse by it all now.

I think he was in possession prior to when the highlight video joins the action and gave it away with a shit pass but I'm not 100% sure.

Bizaare behaviour from Still to single him out though. We had several chances to deal with it after that and didn't due to genuine individual errors. Furthermore, if Still himself hadn't made the frankly inexcusable tactical decision to switch to a narrow 4-4-2 diamond, thus giving Oxford the freedom of both wings, the goal would never have happened anyway.

Also, whilst I'm sure he doesn't tell people to make shit clearances, I'm 100% convinced that he instructs players to whack it long and worry more about retaining our defensive shape than retaining possession of the football. Case in point: concede goal in 81st minute - from following kick off, don't even attempt to retain possession and take some sting out of Oxford... just punt it directly out for an Oxford thrown in. It's that kind of negative, anti-football instruction (which has to come directly from the coaching staff) that leads to things like Griffiths cheaply conceding possession in the build up to their goal.

I absolutely adore the guy, but 95% of the blame for Oxford's comeback rests squarely on John Still's shoulders for me. He got it badly, badly wrong with the tactical switch and embarrassing attempts to time waste/kill the game with 10 minutes still to play. Very, very strange for him to single out Griff under the circumstances.

I'll be amazed if Still ever plays McGeehan, Ruddock and McCourt together without one of Smith/Doyle to anchor them. Pelly and McCourt are both luxury players whilst McGeehan is nowhere near intelligent or disciplined enough to anchor the midfield for them yet. Even as a fan I would have serious, serious reservations about that combo, so I think the chances of the defensive-by-nature Still daring to go that route are pretty slim.

Paddy is fun to watch, but personally I still have some major, major reservations about his role in the team this season. He was fantastic for the first 20 minutes, but IMHO should have been taken off about 20 minutes before he actually was - just not the guy you want in a battle like that.

It's a shame this is a Tuesday, otherwise I could see 1000+ away fans. Should be a good game, can't see us getting any more than a point if I'm honest.

It's a shame we haven't played Luton in years, I've always liked the fans personally. I think my favourite Luton fan was when we went to a university summer ball - he was in a group costume in Alice in wonderland and was supposed to be the mad hatter. His take on the costume? He turned up in a Luton shirt with a huge sign saying "f*** the fa and the football league":lol:

Should be an interesting game, one that id definitely take a point in. Clarke sets up our team to be solid on the road hence 20 unbeaten, but this is a tougher test on the road than we've had in our old league. Do Luton always set up 3-5-2 then? We've been doing the same this season so a big battle through the middle might be on the cards. Shame I can't go but can't get the hours off work.

I think this will be one of our toughest fixtures this season. Tuesday night, under the lights at Kenilworth Road.

I'd be delighted if our 20+ unbeaten away record is still intact after this one. Have a feeling it might be tougher than trips to Dartford and Alfreton etc.

We'll need to play as well as we did at Yeovil and be a bit more clinical in front of goal to stand a chance.

It doesn't help that it's our second away match in 4 days. I wouldn't be surprised if the players aren't a little fatigued.

I'd like to think we could sneak a draw but I have a feeling Luton will shade it.

Not always 352 but alongside 4231 it's one of our "base" formations I guess. It worked pretty well Saturday and Tuesday against your rivals so I think we'll stick with it. We tend to try to match what the opposition plays, which if you play 352 sounds like we will do, and it's keenly debated as to whether this is he right approach. Matching up a midfield diamond on Saturday cost us big time.

How's Cuthbert started his Luton career?

He's played both full back and centre half which is where I think he is best. He looks like a quality centre half to me, big fan of his so far.

We often do against other teams who play it as Still likes to "match up". Saturday was the first time I can remember that we played it against a team who started with a flat back 4.
