Terrible news. This has been on the cards for years because of how their owners uses them.

Why did Askey hang around so long if he was owed that sort of money? Are you guys expecting Alkhadi to stump the money up now he's gone past the stage of an ultimatum or is that winding up order the absolute end now?
Alkhadi must have committed a crime surely.

Please help try and save us. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and the best thing is that the scumbag Amar will be getting none of it.

Latest is there have been a number of bids made for the club, but only 2 are viable. Unsurprisingly a number of property developers are sniffing around.

Joe Sealey is hopeful of being able to get something done and has 2 business plans in place dependent on which league we would end up in.

Otherwise it's curtains for MTFC as we know it and a new club will have to be formed.

Got to hope clubs will pressure the NL to allow Macc some leeway in getting things sorted, one less home game means a hit to everyone's finances

Can't the Council buy it and lease it back to the supporters?

Not too sure whats happening with it. Apparently this is to buy the lease for the next 35 years but the council still own. None of it makes sense other than that it confirms there are two separate deals - one for the club, one for the ground. I guess we'll find out more tomorrow when the deadline for rescinding the winding up order expires.

Is there a covenant on the ground to protect it from being demolished and the land being used for something else?

I seem to remember there is, but not sure if that was just a sub point as part of the deal when the club leased it back from the council. Not sure if it was an official protective covenant or just an agreement as part of that deal. The hope is that it is protected, but the way things are going I expect it won't be.

Sealand Road had a covenant on it from when the land was donated by some Earl or other in the early 20th century, but it didn't stop the asset-stripping Morrison Shand from building a Shopping Park on it and then walking away with a massive profit.

I am sure the Gay Meadow at Shrewsbury also had some sort of recreational covenant on it, houses on it now!

Bootham Crescent had the same bet you can’t guess what’s getting built. Our only saving grace a new ground had to be available before moving out.
It’s took the council that long to get new one built.

Supposedly the same with the Moss, in that a replacement ground and community sports venue must be built first.

In other news, the winding up order has not been rescinded and far as I'm aware Macclesfield Town Football Club have now officially been liquidated.

Late to this but yes Gay Meadow had a covenant on it. Covenant was "transferred" when the new ground was built and some fancy Riverside apartments with flood defences put in

Pretty extreme lengths we've gone to just avoid having to go to Boreham Wood in a couple of weeks time. I'm sure you'd all agree it's worth it just to make sure!!

Thrum Hall, former home of Halifax Rugby League club had a covenant that said football could never be played there, which was immutable when it was mooted that the town's football and rugby clubs should move in together, but the one that said the estate could only be used for the benefit of local sport proved easily got around when Asda waved a whopping great cheque that was coincidentally exactly equal to the amount of unpaid taxes the Revenue were going to wind them up for.... Just saying....:£

Latest twist in the saga is that Pro Football Academy (an academy based in Wilmslow, but also own Stockport Town, formerly Woodley Sports) are now the front runners in terms of being the successful bidder. However not with a view to running MTFC as a club, but to get their hands on the Moss and set up another base from there.

Just gets more and more ridiculous.

And just in the last few minutes it's been officially announced that:

"Local businessman Rob Smethurst has bought Macclesfield Town's assets out of liquidation & set up Macc Football Club Ltd. Smethurst also owns Pro Football Academy a private youth academy with 40+ sites across England, & NWCL side Stockport Town. Phoenix clubs could join NWCL in 2021."

Still no idea what the future holds until we hear the plans. As a fan, and being sick to death of things dragging on and on, I would fucking hope this is today.

If you can get a phoenix club playing at Moss Rose from day 1 with a credible owner that's pretty much best case scenario. Much better than what Bury fans are having to put up with, and fans of Darlington, Scarborough etc previously have had to.

Sounds broadly positive (as positive as this shit show could be) if you have the ground and the fans are willing to back a phoenix club?

Doesn't him owning another club at the level a Phoenix club is likely to be placed cause issues? Couldn't be a more obvious conflict of interest.

Some more noises being made that say he's got plans do to all the right things so will see what comes out.

Also apparently not quite a done deal yet, but not far off.
