I seem to remember a few years ago, I think in Scotland, the clubs there had prepared letters of resignation from Scottish League if too much power was awarded to Celtic and Rangers.
Apparently it would take a 3/4 majority in Premiership to evict the errant six, which could not be mathematically achieved.
I wonder therefore if the threat of resignation of 14 clubs from Premiership will make everybody look closely at the full implications of what the SIX propose.
Talking hypothetically here.....

I wonder if the remaining Premier League clubs will resign to form a new league and use the opportunity to invite Rangers and Celtic in. I'm not in favour of this but it might be a way to lessen the financial blow for these clubs.

I'd much rather support my home town club than passionless plastic teams... relegate all 6 of them to NLN/NLS, save Grimsby and Southend and bring in an extra 4 from the National league.

What the fuck is that and why is this the first time I'm seeing it?

Would it be possible to force through a 50+1 type ownership model in this country?

About time we started taking away some of the power these billionaires who are trying to control football have. Otherwise this super league type set up will eventually get forced through, along with a load of other things that will make the game worse for everyone other then the elite few. Extortionate ticket prices, no more top players representing their country, b teams in the lower leagues, no more cup replays, EPPP ripping off academies etc.

I have finally got to the stage where I was tired of having to wade through piles of their $#!?£ and put them on ignore, only the second time I have done that on this forum, I can't even see what they have posted if someone else quotes them...happy days!

I might review the situation and unblock, if they grow up and start talking sense.
any posts to me will be about lge 2 Bolton FGR etc.....the bullshit is NO concern of yours and you do not have to be drawn in

I know I'm cynical but I am waiting for the inevitable round table talks that a resolved in a manner that benefits all concerned.

I look and notice that the expanded Champions League format, that nobody wants, has also just been announced but this has been completely overshadowed by the Super League announcement.

We're gonna get shat on from a great height and not only will they expect us to be happy about it but they will expect us to pay for it.

There has been a lot of hyperbole about this virtually everyone working in the media. It’s amazing how silent this hyperbole is when they are told that 90% of goes to the “Big 20” at the expense of everyone else. Where were they in 1992?

I am sure it won’t happen, but I would like to see the PL penalise the six. Ideally points so they don’t get into Europe next year.

this is brilliant, never thought they'd capitulate so quickly. get after the rats whilst they scurry for cover. and once we're done with them, its fifa and uefas turn. this is the "legacy fans" chance to reclaim our game now.

well played to everyone, great to see football fans react so united and so strongly. fair play especially to those with something to lose, especially the players rumoured to have revolted.

I think sky sports are now reporting all six English clubs have backed out now.

They still need to be sanctioned. What do we reckon? 30 points deduction for each of the six should do it shouldn’t it?

The fight isn't over. UEFA apparently bribed the English clubs to pull out, have given us a 36 team CL with a terrible format designed to make money and now want to sell a private equity stake in the CL for billions to stop the Super League from happening.

These are charlatans as well as the owners.

I cant believe what an absolute amateur hour this all was by some really powerful and wealthy people who are ostensibly, and certainly judged by there bank balances, are smart individuals.

They seem to have announced this incredibly controversial plan with nothing but a few statements and no substance. No tv deals lined up, no cohesive PR plan or campaign, literally 0 advocates for this, not informed anyone in there own clubs, and many clubs only partially interested and others like Bayern outright saying no.

Absolute amateur hour and shows these guys running these clubs are not just out of touch but also not as clever as they think they are. Hopefully a humbling experience for them all.

All Americans care about is "the market" and ways to make money.

When Europe's major countries set up a football league, it was for fun, pride and prestige. To find out which city had the best football team.

When the US set up a football league, it was all about "the market" and "profits". It was a money-making scheme, not a scheme to see who the best team could be. This is why the US uses a playoff system to determine its champion as it's a huge money-maker as opposed to a traditional league format.

They will claim to be listening to the fans but they clear got spooked by the threat of being kicked out of the domestic leagues and players not playing International football.

Sanction these clubs how?
Look at these clubs owners.......You would never ever win a court case against them.......and yes sanctions would mean exactly that.

For what its worth and take heed of this . The is only one way this super league will go ahead in future and that is if the whole league structure collapses.......We wont be getting any Premier league money from the next Tv deal onwards

You may even see a team resign from the league and travel the world playing exhibition games only
It works on a smaller scale for the Harlem Globetrotters
These 6 are at there most dangerous now just like a wounded animal.
You Cannot piss 6 multi Billionaires off and not have consequencies

Absolutely, but I bet there was some back channel communication from the Government laying out some of the things they were considering to stop the six. i doubt such a trenchant and clear position would have been in the six’s calculations.

You would have thought free market conservatives would be in favour of this.
