Players get dropped all the time for playing shit, only to be reinstated when the manager feels they've made a point or the player puts extra effort in during training. And lest we forget Rooney is the captain. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him start on Thursday.

If Mourinho and the club were sensible though, he'd have the captaincy taken off him and be used as a £1m+ a month backup.

leicester were ok for 20 mins then as pinted out fell apart. been a long time since united killed a game before ht, is it a blip or a sign of things to come...time will tell

What would starting against Zorya prove? It's a guarantee he'll start that game and most United fans will be for it.

It's not his own fault, not entirely anyway. Put Hererra next to him who's able to come deep and turn on the ball and Pogba will shine again. He's traded Pirlo for Fellaini, of course he looks worse.

Will be very interesting to see Pogba with Herrera next to him. Think he might perform.

If Rooney and/or Fellaini gets back into the lineup, barring injury, Mourinho will have lost the plot. The changes he made for yesterday were so incredibly obvious it's baffling that he didn't make them earlier.

It reminds me a bit of Benitez at his worst. At times, he'd make decisions obvious to everyone that they were wrong. And when it went down the shitter, I remember not getting my head around how a professional manager couldn't see it. This is sort of the same. I genuinely can't understand how Mourinho even for a second thought Fellaini was a better option next to Pogba than Herrera.

Of course he'll start on Thursday (along with a few other squad players), it's only the Europa League.

Ibrahimovic is without question our focal point this season and he needs pace, movement and quick passing around him, all things Rooney just can't offer, Mourinho would have to be very silly to start those two together again in the PL.

We agree he shouldn't be used regularly, and the reasons why. I'm simply sceptical that this will happen, and not playing in one game doesn't offer concrete evidence that Mourinho's thinking has changed in this respect.
