Barton under fire again after saying his players had a Holocaust of a performance.

He won't go though, he seems unsackable

What a disgusting cretin he is. How on earth do the owners at such a good club as Bristol Rovers put up with him.

Using that phrase is at the very best an extremely poor choice of words.

I just don’t know what it would take for Rovers to move on. It can’t be that they can’t afford the compo as I understand it their owner is very wealthy so that’s not a problem. There’s almost nothing to indicate he can turn this round and frankly his recruitment strategy of sign a bunch of old players has been a huge fail. Michael Brown did that with us and that ended badly too. They’ll stay up no problems but his whole tenure has been a disaster.

Nearly cost us in 17/18, Tongue, Kay and Pugh as a midfield would have been class five years before

Darren Sarrl has popped up in the betting for our next manager. Hasn't been talked of before, but the shortest odds for him are shorter than the shortest for Keith Hill.

To be fair to Barton, he was probably running out of original ways to describe a shit performance, so he thought up one he (or any other manager) definitely hadn’t used yet. Will be interesting to see what he describes their next performance as.

He’s another one that seems a bit of a billy bullshitter in interviews, after our game Saturday he said they were the better team in both halves and while we were definitely not at our best, we were easily the better team on the day and Yeovil never looked like scoring apart from a 10 minute spell near the end.

From the outside looking in Yeovil look like they've underachieved recently.

Note how they say manager and not head coach. Wonder if that means Holsworth is stepping back a bit.

Maybe, but he’s Holdsworth’s mate isn’t he?

Why go through a two week interview process only for Holdsworth to give the job to one of his pals.

Holsworth has lots of pals?

Also like I said earlier, lots of people will be linked with us, some on really short odds only for us to appoint someone who has been nowhere near the betting. Bookies underestimate just how good our board are at keeping secrets.

Tbf Millen has been amongst the favourites with the bookies for the past week. He was 3rd fave with skybet when I looked this morning.

For his age he doesn’t have much managerial experience, but I’d expect him to be a half decent coach having been at palace for a while. Whether he can transfer that to league 2 management remains to be seen.

At least it wasn’t Darren Sarll.

There seems to have been a typical level of meltdown among the fans, who are outraged that the new manager isn't Pepe Guardiola. We'll know if they're right soon but the reaction was predictable. He doesn't have a lot of experience but the experience he has is at much bigger clubs.

Seems a similar appointment to Beech. More coach then manager.

I would have preferred more L2 experience, but as I say he should know what he’s doing in terms of coaching. How good he is tactically will be the question mark.

An impossible appointment to judge but isn’t one going to rally the club together so he’ll have to start out the hard way.

he should at least have something to work with unlike some clubs in the league but he won’t get the fan patience some other appointments may have.

although at least it isn’t the short term quick fix with no chance in hell of progress appointment many go with.

Surprised Askey doesn’t get linked to more jobs, always rated him.

You'd think they could sack him now if they were only just waiting on the outcome of his trial to see if they could get away without paying compensation.

For any club with limited resources he is a decent option and overall did a good job here. Problem for him is he only has a plan A (which credit where it’s due did work well for a good amount of time) but when that starts failing he has no other way of getting out of it. Also his recruitment is rather lazy just largely signing his old players from Macc.

If Curle were to leave Oldham at some point I could see that being a possibility and given he worked with Smurthwaite and the one who made Macc go under knows how to navigate dickhead owners.

Askey was great first season but seems more of an over achiever, did well turning the club around that first full season and we’d have probably made the top 7 had the season finished.

Give him a budget though and he wasted it on rubbish like McKirdy, Whitehead and Theo Robinson and clearly was some falling out. Pope wasn’t very happy about him either in his pod interview.

If he went someone who wasn’t expecting a promotion push he’d probably do well there, stick him at Bradford or Mansfield he’d probably flop.

Think that's mostly right. Only thing I will say is I defend him on the Pope stuff as I suspect there is more than one side to that story not that I think Askey will ever speak on it. If nothing else can thank him for the fact Worrall is still with us given the genius before him was trying to bomb him out the club and also the development of Conlon really came about under Askey too.

Yep and the likes of Jake Taylor, I felt for him and part of the reason I didn’t mind the clear out of players as some let him down badly.

Maybe just too nice.
