Simpson gone. Don't imagine he was first on anyone's sacking list.

Shame for Simpson but when you have had the sort of run they've had I guess it shouldn't come as a shock. Probably got more time than he'd have been allowed elsewhere to be honest.
He got a lot of leeway last year though... not just because of his previous achievements but also I think the meagre budget that Pepe Guardiola would probably have struggled to keep us up with. At the start of last season we had one of the lowest budgets in the football league and almost certainly the lowest in League One by some distance. He should have gone at the end of last year. Daft sacking him 4 games in
Not clear yet whether he's been sacked or decided to leave... as I did suspect he was the sort of person to walk away and not want the ignomy of being sacked by his hometown club.
It's really sad... or at least it is for those of us who remember his first spell... I think for some of the fans whether too young to remember or too old for his first spell to have felt that special he's just another manager, no different from Millen or Beech before him which made for a bit of a rift in the fanbase as for some no matter how much you feel like his race was run, you couldn't bring yourself to shout abuse at the only man who had got us promoted in your lifetime and to others, their silence meant they were part of the problem. It's probably for the best he left before we became one of those clubs whose fans split into two factions.
I don't really blame our failure to stay up last season on him either... we went into League One with a budget that had been one of the six lowest League Two budgets the previous year and it showed. Some may disagree and think survival should have been easy but honestly if we had stayed up last season it would rank as an achievement alongside the back to back promotions in his first spell, which were achieved with a competitive budget for the time.
was always likely to happen - but whoever comes in can't take over at a worse time with the transfer window closing yesterday.
Yeah but then sacking him 4 games in isn’t exactly giving the new lads time to settle and gel is it?He got a lot of leeway last year though... not just because of his previous achievements but also I think the meagre budget that Pepe Guardiola would probably have struggled to keep us up with. I expected he would get 10... but then I don't think anyone (including obviously the owners) expected us to start the season quite as badly as we have. We were talking about if we're not in touch with the playoffs after ten games then Simpson might have to go... nobody was thinking but what if we look like we're headed into a relegation scrap after only four games (well apart from Hellogregory of course, but he always thinks that).Yeah but then sacking him 4 games in isn’t exactly giving the new lads time to settle and gel is it?
It’s a decent job for someone. We’ve assembled a good squad who are in a crap position. I expect a lot of candidates will be looking at the players we have thinking they can get something out of them.

Evatt after he gets the bullet from Bolton in the next few days.
Who does Pete Wild's PR?Has Wild gone anywhere yet? Seems plausible.

Who does Pete Wild's PR?
He's a shite manager. And a proper whingebag.
That's probably Temple going to join Wild somewhere.... Blackpool or probably Carlisle??
(we've already got Stockdale as Clemences No2, so doesn't really affect us.)

I'll avoid making bold comments because if Pete Wild does become our next manager I'll have to get behind him... wouldn't be my choice though. On paper we have the squad to play positive attacking football so I'd like to see someone with a track record of doing well by doing that.
Also I did rate Wild, ever since he did remarkably well in an impossible situation at Oldham... but the way Barrow capitulated at the end of last season just doesn't give me any confidence.

Doing a deep dive who the bookies are offering odds for... if we wanted Gareth Ainsworth maybe our owners could offer his band a summer tour of Florida and that would swing it for him to drop down to this level![]()
