Surely Wilder's wage demands are about £30k a week?

Doubt that. Just been sacked after taking a club on a good budget into the bottom three, he needs to build his reputation back up before he's earning wages like that again.

According the local rag, Kolo is the most expensive of the candidates and a sign of "commitment" from those upstairs that they've gone and got him. I call bullshit on that. He'll be on no more than 10k a week at the very most when considering that he has zero managerial experience. I have no idea how much compensation we'll be paying Leicester though.

Either way, it's the most bizarre Latics managerial appointment of my lifetime and we've had a few.

After what he did at Sheff Utd, I don't think his spell at Boro would have done that much damage to his rep. £30k a week for a manager isn't excessive at this level. We were paying Alex Neil £20k/pw after his second renewal, he'll easy be on £30k/pw at Stoke.

The fact that you say 30k a week for a manager isn't excessive at this level only serves to prove just how broken this league is financially. Even you paying 20k a week for a manager is ridiculous. Around one million quid a year in a division that only hands out 6m worth of television money per team! But you have to do it to keep up with the rest and if we stay up, we'll have to go the same way which will no doubt lead to more financial shit for us down the line.

Guess we had little choice with Stoke and West Brom coming in for him. He was working miracles at the time.

Hmm don’t know, he was pretty long ball in style at Forest when he was there. Back end of time there was particularly turgid if I recall

Wigan sack Toure.
What a waste of time that was. Not sure what the thought process was there if any.

4th time this season someone has been sacked immediately after having played us. Must mean we have been a bit lucky this season in playing sides in some really bad form!

Yes they blew the play-offs I remember on the final day.

Wigan sack Toure.

Watch out any managers of teams you play then!

Probably thought as Toure was a good defender he could sort their defence out...

I am not really sure how much coaching he did at Leicester...

His man management style is simply not suited to the sorts of player he is now dealing with at Southampton and what he had at Stoke.

He’ll be sacked by the end of March most likely and not sure where he goes after that as it’s his own character traits that have made him a success but also are the route of his failures.

A mutual agreement where Lowe leaves in the summer, and we get an out of work Nathan Jones would be nice.

The players probably just stand there and laugh at his rants and behaviour but then they did beat Man C !

Ive not been a full on Jones fan since the way he showed his character when leaving for Stoke and altho he worked wonders for us, he quickly slipped back into his type with chest thumping and lapping up fan adulation. Many loved him again and now dislike him for leaving. He left and i cant blame him in the slightest this time. We moved on and have. Prob a one time shot for him in his whole career. Who else would take a shot on him in the Prem without it being a real shit show hes walking into?

That said. Watched that interview and I saw a man backed into a corner that hasnt given up and is ready to fight dirty with a steely determination and focus. A man under immense pressure tho. He looked 10+ years older. They could buckle but I wouldnt be totally surpised to see a turnaround there in the next few weeks.

I would say the media and press complain that young managers don't get a chance from the lower leagues but as soon someone like that does get a job question are asked about is he good enough and from the off he is under pressure.

But obviously this interview doesn't help in term of getting support from players and fans

I mean they did win the week before and have beaten Man City so maybe Jones was frustrated Southampton performed so poorly yesterday.

And he isn't just one to say the "right things" and be full of cliches.

I wouldnt mind that interview if he was my Manager. Hes basically saying up to now hed pandered to the standard thinking of players, the fans and whats expected from a Prem team. From here on hes gonna do it his way and its on him. I respect that.

Soton had a good run but sounds like theyve forgotten they are a middling Prem team who with a slight change of fortunes can get relegated...... just like half the League.
