We've got no defenders tomorrow so I'm going 3-1 Carlisle

Not true, Only shire an 18 year old isn't fit. Any combination of pearce, taff, and collins will be fine.

Were Going to win.

Hopefully it's not Jabo who is injured and won't feature, as I think he'll be very important and could dominate the Mansfield defence.

I'm going to go for a 3-2 away win, Wyke, Kennedy and Asamoah to score. Though if Jabo is injured, I'd go for 1-1.

I think thats the case of taking facebook rumour as fact even outside that we have got players who can cover at Centreback outside of there prime position Fitzpatrick being one who really impressed me against pompey playing out of position after Sutton got sent off.

Well considering ive not saw us in pre-season tomorrow is going to be a game of me familiarising myself with the players and our new style of play, so will take me a while to get into it.

Last season under cox apparently we played good football in pre-season only to serve up utter dross at northampton - I hope tomorrow is a different affair

Collins won't be playing. Went to pick up my ST today & he walked/limped past me with a protective boot on. We'll be out for a good few months id have thought.

The rumour on Stagsnet is one of the centre backs are out for six weeks, my bet would be on Collins if that is the case.

I'm seriously worried about our lack of depth in defence, not exactly full of quality either is it?

Going to go for 2-1 either way today, I am not feeling very confident to be honest.

Mind you, least we've got our goal of the season out of the way. What a free kick from Benning.

Meh, I'll take a point. Sounded alright, but not too promising. Better start than last season anyway :)

Personally thought Carlisle are as bad as our tactics previously.. hoof hoof hoof.

We were poor and Reggie Lambe fuck me everything he touched went absolutely no where. Matt Green looked isolated all game and when he did get the ball it was because he had to muscle it off a midfielder. Very scrappy game.

It was one of those games where we would have looked at it and said we should have won, and carlisle will look at it and say a draw was fair.

We dominated the first half for long periods but didn't really find a cutting edge, though we easily showed more impitus than we did at any stage last season.

Our goalkeeper - shearer - is shit - we will concede many goals with him in the side

Blimey, do I really have to sit in the same stands as these Stags quiters?

The game was okay. Typical first game of the season fair. Both teams feeling their way in to the campaign. Pretty end to end and scrappy. Both teams will play better in the long run.

Think that we slightly shaded it but both teams would have been happy enough to see it out with a point.

Shires (18) has been on crutches and is out for a lengthy amount of time, Collins has just suffered a knock and will be back for next week or the next.

Think that was Carlisle hoof united at their best really trying and us looking average and like a team thats not gelled yet. Think today was a kick up the backside for a few of our players and the tempo of league two compared to pre-season. Very sloppy passing and gave the ball away a lot, when we get into our rhythm and start dictating play we will be alright. Green looks strong and quick, just think he shouldn't be playing up top alone.

Pearce today was the best defender on the pitch, we wouldn't of conceded that crap goal if collins was playing. If we tweak a couple of things, players and formations, we will be a very good side compared to last year.

Thought both us and carlisle looked alright compared to what I saw last season - its hard to gauge from the first game of the season.

Stags fans shouldn't be complaining about long ball tactics after the dross we've served up over the last few seasons.

Impressive, If strangely quiet carlisle following - normally much louder

Shearer was faultless today, stop talking rhubarb.

We played ok, as did Carlisle. Draw a fair result.

What a strike by Benning though.

I agree that Benning's strike was immense Carlisle's keeper had no chance the big issue with us I felt was the midfield we sat back far to much which left Green very isolated.

Probably a fair result. Carlisle fans can have some reasons for optimism, they looked like a reasonable side for periods of the game. I liked the way Asamoah played today. He can cause problems and looked threatening on occasion, linking well with others at times. Not sure about the guy with red/pink hair and I was a little disappointed when he was substituted! Having said that, there were some huge gaps in the Carlisle defence towards the end and I think we could have took advantage of this if a little more clinical. A little early I know but, on today's game, I would be surprised if Carlisle were in the thick of the relegation scrap. I predict mid-table for both teams.

Really? Blimy, maybe you've lower standards than what everyone around me saw then, he didn't command his box at all well, and flapped at a fair few crosses.

Can't believe what I'm reading here. Carlisle hoof United? We were overplaying it at times from the back, we nearly gifted you 2 goals in the first half from trying to play out from the back instead of clearing it when we should have. We shaded possession today, yet apparently we hoofed it all afternoon against the all passing tiki taka Mansfield?
Yeah right! Your tactics for the first 20 minutes were actually the long ball over the top to try and turn our defence, plenty of them over hit but a couple nearly came off.

Dominated the first half? Fuck right off, it was even from start to finish, a draw was totally a fair result. I was planning on coming on here to praise your centre backs. I'll still do that, because they are decent and strong especially Pearce, he looks like he'll be a great signing for you. But you are a deluded bunch if you think you dominated. Both teams deserved a point, nothing more nothing less.

The only one that he looked a bit uncomfortable on was a long throw I'm the second half, which he punched for a corner.

Other than that he handled well and collected a few over the top balls very well. Always talking to the defence as well.

I don't have low standards, I just know what I'm talking about.

Thought you played it around really well at times but also hit Ibhere early when required. The guy with red hair in midfield was very good as well.

Thought we shaded periods and looked decent but so did you - draw a very fair result on the balance of the 90.

Pretty much how I saw it nick. Both teams passed it at times but both teams went for the direct ball at times. Can't really remember either keeper having any real top drawer saves to make.

I thought a draw was definetly a fair result.

The biggest downfall today was Murray and his tactics, I don't agree with the one up top, although Green did honestly look quality when he got hold of the ball. One of the midfielders should of been pushing up behind Green but Chapman and Clements were pretty much passengers all game, Rose stood out though and played very well as did Yussuf when he came on and i'm pretty confident he's capable of scoring a few this season.

Overall I think it's a good foundation to build on, we have goals in that squad no doubt about it and maybe my worries about the defence were over the top but our biggest worry is Adam Murray IMO.

I personally thought Carlisle had the edge on us until we scored that goal. I think the main problem today were Clements and Chapman neither decided to be in the game at all Carlisle must have got through that midfield a few times with those two nowhere to be seen. Big praise for Nicky Hunt and Krystian Pearce today though both looked quality.

To further on Shearer I agree with Adam although i don't think he was that bad today I just feel uncomfortable with him in net. I would much prefer Jensen in.

Mansfield will be comfortable this season based on what I witnessed today. So will we.

Both teams probably a couple of players short of being able to challenge the playoff places.
