Doyle is more use in goal than central midfield at this point.

We’re a bit lucky that lots of teams/managers still just think ‘we’re playing Notts County’ and set up with a packed defence against us and let us have the ball. As Oxford City for an hour and a half-furloughed King’s Lynn have shown, just have some legs in midfield and press us a bit.
Either Ardley faces up to it or he'll be gone before the season's out.
He's risking his job for fear of upsetting Doyle.

Mid table mediocrity is where we are heading. Its annoying as this team is head and shoulders better than the team that got in the play offs last season. We just haven't been able to get a run of the same team on the pitch week after week. Everyone has injuries but we have been hit hard by key long term injuries.

Summerfield is a key miss his composure and passing ability is something we don't have in the rest of the squad.
Also the 2 front line strikers have played a combined 6 games all season which doesnt help.

I can't see us being consistent enough to make up the difference to the play offs.

I know in such a fucji g pessimist, but where do the goals come from if Asante gets poached?
Fuck knows but lets just enjoy it.

He's a class apart at this level and we are lucky to have him.

Like Pinner Stones says, our first league win since December 12th and a clean sheet too, not quite sure how Boreham Wood didn’t score in those final 20 minutes but frankly I don’t care.

Interesting that between Ashmore, Fyfield and Pearce there were real communication issues, a canny side would have definitely scored at least one goal from those blunders. I counted 3 mistakes between the trio.

I also bemoaned Cawley’s error on Saturday but he was excellent tonight as was Ashley Charles. The only sour note is the injury to Connor Smith who has been our player of the season imo.

Completely agree. Think this season will end up as a write off but with a bit of luck next season with injuries and some smart recruitment in the summer we have the making of a good side.

Mitch Rose is looking like a better option than either of our current ones.

Literally all they’re good at is recycling possession in games when we have all of the ball. No goal threat, too slow to support counter attacks, absolutely picked off defensively by any midfield with a bit of energy, mortally offended any time someone tries to press them. Hopeless.

To think that we picked him up from the glue leagues where he had slipped out of favour and was sat on the bench every week. Incredible.

Reeves is fine, put Wolfe with him and you've suddenly got an energetic midfield with players who aren't the same.

We signed another player today. Brings our shoe string, budget squad up to about 40 players now

Are there at least any records we can aim for? Most goals conceded, most games with +5 conceded, least open play goals perhaps? Any others?

Can we borrow 5? We are one injury off having to name a 16 year old youth player in the starting 11

You can take all 30 if you want?

Actually do you fancy a new chairman as well?
Naa chairman is solid. Typical tight arse Yorkshire man. Gaffer can't fill his bench go and route around at the local college see what you can find haha
However he's like the ideal chairman to have during this whole situation because he's so tight it might actually benefit us more next season.

As for the players can we have that striker that scored that banger against us the other week? Do you have a midfielder that can pass a ball to a player in the same coloured shirt?

Because you can't get relegated are you trying to go bankrupt instead?

Very pessimistic correct (think that’s just in our blood as town fans) ... but let’s just enjoy him for now, he’s a top quality player who I’m surprised is playing at this level (never mind at the level below the last couple of years!!) and his goals are proving vital at the moment, so let’s hope he keeps this form up until the end of the season!!

EFL clubs transfer window is shut anyway so nothing could happen till the summer, and if his goals help fire us back into the FL this season then who would begrudge him of a big move??? Cos I certainly wouldn’t !

Still no word on who (if any) we have furloughed although that may become clearer from tonight's teamsheet. The three fit defenders includes a young lad who has only been in the squad on a handful of games this season so I am not sure two should be the target.

Getting a bit sick of this 'will they, won't they' nonsense about whether we will do a Dover, appreciate these are not normal times but the NL needs to be clear that Dover won't be in the NL or NLS next season and the same fate will happen to any club failing to complete their fixtures. I still think the step 2 clubs have been hard done by on such a tight vote and if two clubs (plus Dover) drop down at the end of the season and four come up (by whatever means) then I can't see how any NL club can complain, it may also help in terms of maintaining some sort of integrity to fixtures in the NL.
Apart from the fact a democratic vote was passed saying no relegation, and that step 2 was null and void. I do agree all clubs should fulfil their fixtures, and field as strong a team as possible, within their financial constraints .

With furlough being continued past the end of the season, we should now stop playing and award Chesterfield the title.

Any team that has scored less than 4 against us doesn’t deserve to be in this league. This is fucking pathetic - has there ever been a side less prepared for a football season anywhere?

The chairman simply has to come out and own this mess he’s created.

Ive said the club is finished so many times on here and then a month later we’ve plummeted to new depths. There are fans of teams out there who have lost their clubs and their communities etc, but yet we’re making a mockery of being a professional team here. Absolutely pathetic, the club doesn’t deserve to still be solvent.
We can go one better than that we managed to lose against you

They let the only midfielder that could pass go, after they nicked him off us. But the manager never followed or one of the best players at this level.
