If the team that turned up against Wrexham yesterday had turned up at PP a month ago we'd have won by a country mile. We just need our A game to turn up more often.
If.

"If" Emile Heskey didn't dive in the league cup final, we would have been in Europe and with those funds challenging for the Premier League again rather than getting relegated to league one.

Chester were poor, we comfortably beat what was in front of us and could have stepped it up a gear like we did against Bromley, who were better than Chester.

They've got enough. Tyriaki upfront, Howell and Kamdjo in the middle, Reynolds, Devera, Doe, Woodards at the back can all handle themselves.
Not sure how many of them played against us, but they were like a bunch of wet lettuces at our game.

Still can't believe rhead has scored so many goals? How? He can't shoot from more than 5 yards.

If there was ever a sign in the gulf in class between the conference and the league that must be it

Ifs and buts.

It's funny how the style of a game is often dictated by the worst team. You see it all the time in cup games. Who's to say we wouldn't have upped our game if you had been better? As it was, you were abysmal and deservedly lost.

I love it when opposition fans have sour grapes, it means 'job done'.

We don't get him to shoot, we get him to head it, with the odd exception - scored aerially from all kinds of angles so far.

Pretty much already has cult status - hope he can make 20+ now. Nice lad as well.

Looks like Halifax felt the full force of the backlash of Cheltenham's defeat to us. Although yes, they do have a very large number of pricks on their forum who think they're destined to destroy this league. They presumably weren't old enough to go to games on their own when Cheltenham last played at this level, but still. Although their fans on here are a decent bunch.

What's scary is that a lot of those who think we should be running away with the league are the ones who were coming when we last in this division. The fact is that we haven't been poor at this level since 1992. Our last two seasons we finished second and first, and when we finished second we won at Wembley in the FA Trophy. In the 5 years before that we finished 2nd or 3rd every year in the Southern League. So it's been 23 years since we had a truly poor season in non-league, that's before I started attending in 1994 and I like to think of myself as a veteran these days.

As for yesterday's result, I honestly didn't see it coming. Yes I expected a backlash after last week's mugging, but a 1/2-0 would have sufficed. I've loved this season so far, and I can't wait for Tuesday's game against Braintree.

I said nice lad, not top lad.

To my knowledge, Rhead hasn't been involved in a hit and run, have problems with his booze or act like a bellend on Twitter.

He's not on twitter, think he may like a drink along with the rest of the team according to the rumours....

Fair point, he's just a knob on the pitch.

Lets see how you get on against Wrexham.
Why, what are you expecting will happen?
Rovers have clicked into some form following the win over Chester. Things might have been different if you'd converted the penalty midway through the second half; you didn't. Expecting Wrexham to give us a much tougher battle, on their own turf and with a capacity crowd.

Did Quigley make any impression for Wrexham against Chester? Quite the match to debut in.

Starting games as opposed to being a sub has probably helped, too.

What will that prove?

If we lose, does that make you better than us?

Or because we beat you, will your brain get trapped in a paradoxical whirlpool of pseudo-logic, two conflicting pieces of evidence duelling like a Roman gladiator and his evenly matched foe, inevitably concluding in a cataclysmic implosion of sense?

Or shall we just wait until the end of the season to find out how things really went?

Sadly I have to agree with you. When we played them, and won by the same scoreline, I just couldn't see them scoring. Although it took us some time to breach their defence I was confident we would go on to win if we could, though I do think the final score was a fair reflection of the game and we never looked likely to score a hatfull. I have been to most of our games at Kiddy in the last 6-7 years and that was the first time I had been there with any degree of confidence that we might get something from the game. At the admission of their own fans the team is a mixture of old heads and youngsters, that sort of mix can work with time or if you get lucky, they need to start turning it around quickly.
I'm beginning to hate football.

Yesterday was incredibly disheartening. In the first half we got the ball into the final third a lot, but then a bad touch or misplaced pass by our youngsters broke down most of our attacks. I only remember one Welling shot in the first half and it was dragged well wide. Welling made a change at half time and came back into the game, but aside from the goal, didn't have a meaningful attempt until injury time.

The goal was for a free kick that I'm convinced was a fantastic sliding challenge by Tunnicliffe. I'm pretty desperate for BT Sport to prove me wrong because for a refereeing decision to have cost us that game would be typically frustrating when we're up against it as it is. Especially if we were to miss survival by a point.

Regarding the red card, it probably was a red, but Tunnicliffe shouldn't have to take the blame. It was a suicidal pass across the defence by Hodgkiss (who despite being our player of the season last year, I can't remember having one good game so far this year) that left Tunnicliffe chasing the defender. People are saying he went down very easily and he may have, but Hodgkiss shouldn't have put us in that position and now we'll miss JT for 3 games.

Welling were as poor as us yesterday overall and I was disappointed by the amount of diving going on (by George Porter in particular, who also kept seeking to rile the home fans after he got away with one for some reason), which the particularly weak referee acknowledged by giving us free kicks on occasion, but failed to follow up with bookings which may have discouraged them from doing so.

Hoping our young players can keep their heads up against Boreham Wood, or we can hire Sir Alex Ferguson as manager. Think that'd be our only chance for survival.

Because they beat us their season is now complete. Two seasons ago they got relegated but it didn't matter because they beat us. It's all they care about really. Bless em.

He's plenty fit enough. Obviously not good enough for L2. If Akinde or Tomlinson can't do it, then Rhead certainly can't.

Indeed, if we'd lost, we'd be outraged. At least our lads aren't the ones wasting time writing out hand-written apologies and responding to refund demands from our fans forum this time. :bg1:

We became the first side to be automatically relegated in the late 80s, and subsequently the first side to bounce straight back up. It didn't stop me from thinking we had years of hell in front of us in 2011 - different ballgame back in those days, part-time *really* meant part-time, we were the only full-time club I think.

Lo and behold, fifth season of the non-league turd-burger. Please can we just be good for one season...

Well put, we were awful against you. You guys didn't look brilliant but you didn't need to be as you got the lead easily and we never troubled you at all.

looked okay in the first half, turned our centre back two or three times but to no effect. don't think he did anything in the second half. He was better than the lad you loaned to us
