We were lucky at the end today, first big test on Tuesday at woking, win there and I really will start believing!
Very true, in all respects. If our amazing run is to come to an end soon, as it surely will, please let it be at either Woking or Macclesfield. I couldn't bare it to be against Cheltenham, their fans would never let us hear the end of it.

Another point today, was that we had 4 guys from our youth team in the squad with 1 starting (and scoring) and two coming on. Not sure whether that'll carry on with them in the long term, but another positive today nonetheless.

You won't have too much to worry about on Tuesday. Rendell, Yakubu, Ricketts, Murtagh, Jones and Caprice all injured. And if we're as poor defensively as we have been in our last two then you'll score ten.

My running days are over. Parked at Total Fitness and caught bus down to Borough Road.
No sour grapes. First time in 6 years we've been in a proper ground. 1,526 is probably more than you'll bring to us.
Only because you won't give us that many tickets! Fair play to you lot though, that was the best following we've seen in quite a while.

Only because the size of your ground is such that you won't be able to offer us that many tickets.
The Chester turnout was bigger than expected, I doubt that Rovers would bring more than half of our home support if tickets were unlimited. Grateful for the early goal and the penalty save to keep things subdued.
Which of the goals was Worsnop to blame for? I'd be fairly angry with your defence for hardly trying to stop Norwood for the second, quality finish though it was.
Could have done without the retro awaydays fight scenes as I ambled back to Rock Ferry station. So-called fans from both sides to blame for that.

Just home from Grimsby. Thought for 50 minutes we executed the perfect away performance, defended resolutely and took our chance when it came. Grimsby had 70% of the play but Smith/Thomas didn't have much to do until the referee gave what must be the worst penalty decision I have EVER seen - the corner came in and with barely any contact between any players and nobody going down he decided to give Grimsby a penalty. I dont think we would have won, and we probably would have lost, but its a disgraceful decision regardless.

Also at 2-1, Anderton fouled a grimsby player to which the referee played advantage, as he did the Grimsby player turned round to Anderton and kicked him off the ball. I can only hope the officials somehow missed it because it was a clear red card!

That said, after Grimsby equalised (albeit extremely controversially) our defence collapsed and as a result what was a very good performance for 50 minutes turned into a horrible performance.

Anyway, I didnt expect anything from today and Grimsby were due to thrash someone at some point, so on to Welling on Tuesday where anything except a win will be a disappointment,.

After today I really do fear for Richard Brodie's sanity.

What an absolute idiot the bloke is.

Nah, the walk back to Rock Ferry station was a bit lively apparently but nothing of real note I don't think.

Police did quite well I thought, turned a blind eye to some harmless 'laddish' behavior, whereas the Cheshire & North Wales forces would have been all over it with the robo-cops.

Think the heavy handed approach at our fixture just provokes a reaction to be honest and causes more problems than it prevents.

Played well enough, first half we didn't take chances, second half we did. First penalty was because Brodie blocked off Bogle from heading the ball and he went to ground. Most of the ground could see that I think. Second pen was because Bogle turned the defender far too easy. How Brodie still scrapes a living as a footballer is beyond me. He was talking to the ref 15 minutes after the pen had been given. Thankfully he was shit.

Absolutely. It says everything about NWP. Sure both clubs have small sections of idiots who will cause trouble but surely that can be managed without the ridiculous bubble? The current situation is a joke and antagonism between Chester and Wrexham seems to have got worse as a result.

I'm sorry but you had one chance in which you scored, fair play. The rest of it was all Grimsby. We missed numerous chances before you scored and should have been easily in front. After you scored we did struggle for the rest of the first half, I'll give you that but the in the second half it was one way traffic.

I didn't quite see what the first penalty was for but we should have had a penalty a few moments before that for a blatant foul (shirt pull) which the ref saw but ignored. We also had a perfectly good goal disallowed just before that for less than that.

4-1 didn't flatter Grimsby today.

Haha yeah that would be a sickener. If we play like we did today our run will end before that, especially as we're almost always crap at Kingfield, whether playing Woking or H&Y.

Tbf after a very poor start where it looked like we could score at will, Southport improved and looked a decent side. Possibly a bit of complacency on our part, but our ability to dig in and grind out results is what once again got us over the line. Racine and Bennett are an outstanding centre half pairing, both were immense again with Bennett deservedly getting motm.

Our bench is very strong as well, seeing the likes of Parkin and Jonah coming on, for me 2 of the best players in their position in the league, really highlighted that.

To win 9 out of 9 is unbelievable, we might not have beaten so called top teams but to consistently win all the games you're expected to win isn't easy, so we've done brilliantly to keep it going so long. Surely we can't make it 10, can we?

A pretty comfortable 3-2 win for us yesterday despite going 2-0 down to a very direct Dover team. What is it with referee's down here the one yesterday looked Sunday league standard giving Dover a penalty for their player fouling one of ours.

It was a penalty all day long, Brodie clearly blocked off Nsiala and on the highlights our commentator called it before the referee even gave it. It was probably the 3rd penalty we should have had though and we could have been 2 or 3-0 up before your goal. Agree that Robinson was lucky to stay on the pitch though after his kick out at your player. Maybe the ref didn't see it but the lino should have as it was right in front of him.

That happens in every penalty area at every corner though. If you give that you have to give one every time a corner is taken.

But despite that it doesnt change that the best team won. Play like you did 2nd half and I cant see many sides beating you. Im guessing you didnt play that well in the first 8 games before us?

Brodie and Nsiala were at it all game. We could have had a penno also at 1-0 when Nsiala nearly took Brodie's shirt home as a souvenir, that's what the half-time handbags was all about. Given you had plenty of chances but didn't take them gave us a bit of hope. But second half when you played a proper 4-4-2 with both Bogle and Amond in the middle we couldn't handle it. It was only a matter of time before you got properly on top of us, but your goals were very fortunate, but not undeserved. Sometimes it's that bit of luck that gets you going, we had it first half with your awful finishing, you had it second with a dodgy penalty, a horrible miskick for the second and a big deflection for the third. As for Olivers defending for your 4th, well, I'm sure the highlights will tell the full story...

For some reason, I thought I saw Andrew Wright warming up and assumed he was in the squad! Make that 3!

Really?

Most I knew weren't expecting much from today or to fill the away end either, odd post.

Do you read your own site "Deva Chat"? There have been plenty of posts predicting a Chester win and a full away stand on that for weeks now.

This. I lost count of the amount of times I read that we'd 'be surprised'. Still, they were pretty impressive all the same.

6 correctly going for a Rovers win 9 for a draw and 9 for a Chester win if I've done my sums right. Though I can't talk, predicting a draw.

It did seem the Chester injury crisis was a lot of smoke and mirrors though.

Does show that more thought we wouldn't win than we would, god forbid a few might hope we can win!!

George and Tonge missed the game and we badly missed George to be honest. Hannah, Hobson and Richards had all been out for a couple of weeks, and it was their first games back, although Burr probably knew they would actually be ok to play to be fair when he gave an update on Thursday.

Someone on Deva Chat is claiming that a door was opened and quite a few of ours got in for nothing. Sounds possible as I thought there were more like 1,700 of us.
