Tuesday May 4th
Notts County v Sutton United 5pm

We’re entering the last month of the season, the final stretch with some massive games. It’s a big test for Torquay, Eastleigh are on a good run and chasing the playoffs and Chesterfield away is equally as tough for the same reasons. Likewise Hartlepool have 2 awkward fixtures. How big and important will 6 points be for Chesterfield? Halifax v Stockport on Saturday looks interesting.

It’s hard to read Sutton’s two games. April was awkward for us, and Aldershot are tricky opponents. Notts on Tuesday on TV will not be pretty.

Average 73% possession. Wootton to miss four free headers inside the six yard box. Two goals conceded from corners, one from a long throw and one freak deflection.

In all seriousness, we need to beat Altrincham.

Aldershot are not tricky opponents, we are on the beach as Torquay saw Tuesday night.

Weve never lost to Solihull at home, so hopefully we don't start this season. We owe Maidenhead one after they beat us at our place earlier in the season. Two tough games but we need to get full points if we have any ambitions to be involved in the play offs.

Expected wins for Sutton, Torquay and Stockport on Tuesday means we need to win Saturday to keep up the pressure, Chesterfield won't be pushovers but with our home form I'm pretty confident of the win, load of shite that it's on BT like, would've been a decent amount of stream sales from their end.

Richie Bennett going back is a blow, but Armstrong and Oates have been on fire and there's also Harvey Saunders and the lad Elliot to choose from.

I've heard Elliott isn't but we'll see. That's why we got Saunders in apparently.

Two very tough games for us, win them both then fuck me maybe we'll do it.

Bit of a last chance saloon for us at Alty is feels, win and we could be right back among it with games in hand with those directly above us having really tough fixtures. It’s one of our easiest remaining matches on paper given Alty’s recent form. We simply have to win if we want to get our playoff campaign back or track.

Lose or draw and the meltdown will be complete. Thank God the social media blackout is taking place this weekend!

Big weekend for us. 2 of the top 3 to play before 4 winnable games - 3 at home to Kings Lynn, Wealdstone and Dagenham & 1 away to Woking.

I'd take 4 wins from the 6 - would be very typical of us to go beat Hartlepool then get beat by Woking or someone.

I figured we'd of heard about Elliot by now if there was something to it, DC never mentioned anything in his press meeting today so who knows?

If we can pull 6 points from these next two then we're going up, 100%

Not sure what to expect against Stockport we generally play well against the big boys but that's usually away from home. Gonna be a tough game for us.
If we can get a point against Stockport and a win at Yeovil that's a good weekend for us

Agree with this. Feel we need to win at least one of them to keep us ticking over but 4 points would be a very good return from two tough games

If I'm Gary Johnson, I'm nervous as fuck. Sutton and Hartlepool are right up my arse, we've led for most of the season and my career is surely over if I bottle it.

No pressure though.

We generally get absolutely HAMMERED by "the big boys" away from home, you clown. How long have you supported us again?

We won't win either of them, you muppet but yeah, I get where you're coming from, we won the last game so we're on a roll now, huh? :ds:

Hartlepool’s home form is the definition of a fortress so no doubt we’re going to be in for a tough game. But with our recent away form I don’t think we should be fearing the challenge at all, and there’s every chance we can come away with a point or even 3 if we can replicate the performance we put in away at Bromley..

Wouldn’t be a bad place for Danny Rowe to get his first goal in a Chesterfield shirt...

We're getting Devonshire'd again. 1-0 Maidenhead is the only possible scoreline in that game.

We're always weirdly good against Solihull at home, I think we'll win that.

Yeah I'm sure he's crapping himself. If only he could draw on the experience of winning promotion before.;)

Was just reading the preview on that really good Notts stats site, and our expected goals thing has got really silly. We’re eight points down on what you would expect our performances to have picked up in eight games under Burchnall, which feels too extreme to be anything other than a bit of a random blip. Keep playing as we have been and we will start winning, only problem is we’re running out of games now.

Only 2 clubs can go up yet 10 or 11 clubs still think it can be them. Clearly there is going to be lots of disappointed clubs.
Still Sutton and Stockport to go up for me

Yeah, he's big big favourite as you say. He's got the experience and he's led for most of the season. Surley he won't bottle it now?

Nice try! Sutton are still clear favourites followed by you guys with your massive budget. We are way above where anyone thought we'd be at the start of the season.

I can't tell if you're being a WUM or have genuine concern for Gary Johnson's career :dk:

Thinking of the promotion race, I think Torquay will win it. The number of points they have picked up at the death in games is astonishing and shows real character to keep going right to the end. Teams like that usually go on to be successful.

I'd like to think we can beat anyone in the play off mix but then again, we don't usually fair well against the teams towards the top (1 point from Sutton, 1 point from Hartlepool, 1 point from Notts, 0 points from Torquay (only played them once) as well as also failing to beat Maidenhead at home the other week and have lost twice to Weymouth this season, so who the hell knows?!

Tough couple of fixtures for us. One of our bogey teams up first at Plainmoor (we've only beaten Eastleigh twice in 11 attempts). But as long as we show the commitment we did against the Shots on Tuesday we should come away with the 3 points. Hopefully not having to rely on 'Gary Johnson Time' as I don't think my blood pressure could take it!

Then a visit to somewhere up north to take on the Spireites who, although having lost their last two home matches, are still in with a good shout for one of the play-off spots. Their home form isn't that great shakes, having lost 7 on home turf (the most in the top 7), whereas us Gulls, along with Stockport, have won the most games on our travels (11 each).

With Sutton at home to 'on the beach' Aldershot and then away to 'getting ready for the beach' Notts, Pools with two tricky ties against Bromerly and then Chesterfield, and title favourites Stockport away at minnows Halifax and then home to 'on the beach and having a beer with not a care in the world' Wealdstone, this weekend could see the field narrowed down a bit for the coveted top spot.

Purely to improve our own chances next season I’m hoping that it’s Stockport and Wrexham that go up, even though I know it won’t be.

We wont go up this year as we havent spent much money on our squad and we are just not good enough. Stockport should go up as they have spent more than anyone else and have a good team

Aye, it’s a bit frustrating really. Running out of games as you say, and some of our toxic fans unlikely to give Burchnall much either. The thought of attempting to build something long term is completely alien to them. Smacks a bit of the Stockport situation, where iirc Rusk, who similarly replaced a popular manager, got off to a poor start and there were calls for his head. I’m guessing they have mostly gone quiet now.

Hopefully our impressive xg will actually result in a few goals tomorrow!

Would like to think we could pull off a result today, but it’s highly unlikely unless Sutton get the jitters. Realistically, 3-1 .I’d like to see a few more of our lads playing for a new contract.
