Tranmere and Mansfield stick in my mind. Were Tranmere even top half halfway through? I remember a number of their fans wanting Mellon gone early in the season.

we were about 5/6 points off the playoffs at one stage in january, kidderminster went on an equally crazy run but missed out by a point and lost to newport in the playoffs that year.

Once again, it’s absolutely criminal that only 2 go up when League 2 is so full of shite as well

I said there should be 3 when down here and still say 3 now, there’s no reason as to why not, especially when 4 go up from league 2.

Even if 22nd went into like a playoff system with sides from the league below like they do in scotland (they have a playoff i believe in germany) etc

They lost to us in the playoffs that year, then we lost to Newport in the final. I think Newport beat Grimsby?

Boreham Wood still doing well ,I see…
Signing Orsi Dadomo was such a below the radar signing but it’s up there with what anybody else has done business wise this season. Excellent striker at this level. I think a few are expecting them to fall away but I think they’re in this right until the end.

They lost to us in the playoffs that year, Newport were still scrapping around the relegation spots at that point.

Newport certainly came up the season we did, who did they beat in the playoffs then? presumably wrexham?

Helps when you've played about 30 games more than the teams immediately below you.
You're right it does, We still haven't had a prolonged cold wet spell in this division which will lead to more postponements for us and others, and there will be more covid cancellation games to come. The longer the games in hand gap doesn't close, the harder it becomes for those behind to win every game they need to when playing tues/sat/tues.

I still don't think we're winning this and it will come down to one of the bankrolled bunch but i'll be happy with 2nd or 3rd to reduce the number of play-off games needed, they're all televised and we're crap on the telly.

We barely got out of of second gear there. Almost too comfortable. Need to keep getting results. We're the best side in the league in my opinion but we need to prove it.
First half I thought Alty looked decent, tried to build things up without ever actually getting shots away. But with that goal right before the break, and the penalty shortly after, their heads went and the gulf between the two sides increased by several orders of magnitude

I bet Alty hope we go up just so they never have to play us again

Some of us can see past club bias and accept that there should quite clearly be a minimum 3 promotion spots from this league. Personally, my pinion would be the same if we were battling relegation in L2.
Well yes me too, but i think only those that have been here would. Oldham, Scunthorpe and Colchester fans wouldn't be thinking that now. Parachute payments should also be cut to one year instead of two but again that's not getting voted through.

Others will vote for it thinking it will never affect THEM. Burnley threatened to sue the FA and the Football League when it slowly dawned on them that they might actually become the very first club to suffer relegation under the new rule that they'd voted for, on the grounds that they never thought it was intended to be applied to clubs like THEIRS! One my biggest disappointments over the years following football is that they managed to save themselves in the last day of the season and saw Lincoln go down. I would have LOVED to see the arrogant bastards get booted out after an expensive court case. :fl:

Burchnall asked about the Chesterfield bid for Roberts and going with “yeah, I heard about that, we’re sticking a bid in for Jamie Vardy tomorrow”. Reckon that’s probably not happening.

Mind you, definite signs of slight Roberts/Burchnall tension in Cal’s interview and ‘play your best player in his best position’ likes on Twitter. Although I am fine with that if it gets him properly going again, that second half was early 2020 Roberts.

Haha I don’t think many others will be sharing that view.
Although my lad did text me and said we shouldn’t have lost and that Crookes is an idiot.
Correct, he's absolute junk. Can't defend, and doesn't have a clue what to do on the rare occasions he ventures past the halfway line. Which isn't really helpful when our midfield has no creativity in it and we need our full-backs to overlap to create some space for the wingers.

Thought both of Halifax's full-backs were excellent tonight and did a great job getting up and down the pitch.

Completely unrelated to tonight but just noticed Maidenheads upcoming 7 fixtures :ohm:

Chesterfield H
Halifax H
Stockport A
Wrexham A
Eastleigh H
Dagenham A
B-Wood H
Yeovil H

I guess in their favour its 5 at home, but an horrific set of games no matter which way you look at it.

Absolutely dire first half from us, keeper making one of his all too regular mistakes. Poor sod has just fell to pieces.
second half , Zak Brunt on at half time instantly improved the midfield and poor old Kings Lynn buckled after about three minutes of pressure.
Easy to forget we're not quite half way through, with all the top teams refusing to lose every match feels like a must win.

And our best full back this season was on bench, who came in with 10mins to go. Warren has done well filling in as
Left back the last few games.

Well we are a joke to most people. Always have been.

I suspect latent racism.
Racism? How very dare you. It's xenophobia pure and simple, or does that word have too many vowels in it for that load of twaddle you lot call a language :woot::woot:

I rather like the Welsh language, especially when the ladies speak it. It always sounds as though they've swallowed something the wrong way and are trying to cough it back up, and it brings back happy memories of a girl I once knew. :ds:

Sean Pearson complaining he was "punched" - well done whichever Town player it was, you did what every opposition fan has wanted to do to him for years. :box::fl:

Half listened to last night whilst in bed falling asleep.

Sounded like every other game in our recent run of form, a game of fine margins where a defensive error costs us the game (well a point as we were never getting 3), as we offer little to no threat going forward.

We desperately need some attacking signings, especially a good striker but some creativity in midfield as well, this month to even make the play-offs, currently going into every game were we know if we concede its game over.

Perhaps we could do with an attacking coach as well, as good as Hurst is at setting us up to be defensive, its no good when one mistake (which always happen at this level) costs you the game because nobody is good enough to find the net at the other end.

That was actually a good save, no fault with the keeper this time.

Thought you were well organised defensively as you touched on but like I mentioned at half time, it felt like both teams looked scared of losing in the first half. The second half, we showed a lot more intent and you didn’t really look to match it. The game never felt in doubt once we went ahead.

Was impressed with Fox. He ran the show in the first half in particular, but struggled a bit more when we pressed and harried you second half. Sousa flatters to deceive, pacey but little end product. McAtee was very quiet. Taylor was ok but very isolated. Maguire-Drew quiet bar his early chance.

You looked a solid team overall but felt like you were lacking something that would turn you from a solid team to real contenders.
