Should be a good game this. Would take a point now but if we play the way we did against Wigan and Rochdale then there is no reason why we can't win.

Saw Onyedinma went off yesterday with a knock. Any idea if he'll be fit for Saturday?

Team:

Charles-Cook

Phillips Ricketts Johnson Stokes

Vincelot Fleck

JOB Maddison Lameiras

Armstrong

Millwall 1-2 Coventry

Think this will be a draw.

Fred took a knock but didn't look serious. Maybe a dead leg.
I suspect he'll be rested on Saturday as his replacement, Paris Cowan-Hall played very well when he came on.

Result could go either way here. Our defence looks iffy and our midfield lightweight. That said we apparently outplayed Shrewsbury for long periods. I reckon a scoring draw, possibly 2-2.

He won't start Charles-Cook, he pretty much said so in the post match yesterday. Be Burge back in nets.

Cautiously optimistic for this one, obviously one of the harder grounds to go to in the league but we've been playing well so far and if Millwall try and play football against us like Wigan did on Saturday we could easily get in behind them and score a few goals. Going to predict a 1-1 draw but think it could still go either way really. Armstrong and Reda back will be a big plus over the side that drew last night.

I don't see how anyone can have secure confidence after one result, especially after nearly being relegated the season before but there you go."If we play like we did...", "Millwall won't cope if they try to play football." It's all a bit muggy/

In real terms we're at home and Coventry haven't proven they're anything yet, so we should be looking to win.

The "Millwall won't cope if they try to play football" is a bit daft but saying if we play like we did against Wigan, we'll win is a fair comment as we were excellent.

Another useless phrase because it completely disregards the opposition. I don't think anyone has a clear idea of what either one of Coventry, Millwall or Wigan are capable of unless they can occasionally replicate it over a larger sample of games. I'm not entirely sure what we are yet; hopefully a lot more solid than last year, encouraged from what I've heard in the league but wary after results like last night. That 'we will win if...' is pretty naive conjecture at this point, especially going into my 20th full season as a supporter. Very few teams are that special at this level.

Whose said that that you won't be able to cope if you play football? And none of the Coventry fans in this thread have secure confidence. We're just cautiously optimistic because we've started the season well, playing some decent football and at this level you really have to back yourself to be able to beat anyone. I personally think it will be a draw on Saturday but I can see the capabilities in our team to play decent counter attacking football which helps away from home.

Well, that obviously sounds infinitely more reasonable. Why didn't you just say that in the first place.

Thought Burge looked decent against Wigan tbf. Never seen the other keeper play.
Charles-Cook was very decent last night, but that's just one game. I'd give him a run out in the JPT and FA Cup and just see how things go from there.

The new League One Jockney is a lot more feisty than the old Championship version.
Maybe in the absence of the frankly moronic Derby fans Jockers is missing the sparring opportunities. :)

A week a go I would have backed us to lose, but after seeing us against Wigan and against Rochdale last night, I am a little more confident.

We have a lot of similar players who play the attacking midfield role, who are more Barcelona than League One.The problem is, it is alright playing with 5'6 players at home where we know the pitch is brilliant and the ref will give the decisions our way, but games away at the likes of Milwall are the ones I worry about.

I am interested to see how Maddison, Armstrong and Lamerias will perform at the away games.

Frankly, we shouldn't be losing at home to any of the rabble in this league. Home win.

Oh my God, that is exactly what I'm talking about. Do you even hear yourself? Barcefuckinglona. :ffs:

You obviously completely misunderstood my post then? By 'More Barcelona, than League one' has nothing to do with the standard of these players, but the way they WANT to play and they way they are built.

Most Coventry fans would have knew what you meant, this guy doesn't know shit about us as a team so took it out of context.

The subtext of that post was 'we're a footballing side that needs protection from bullying, direct sides away from home,' with ever so-slightly a sneer. Again, you might have been lacking intention but you're also suffering from a self-awareness deficit. I don't know shit about your team, then how the fuck do you presume to know so much about us?

P.s. our pitch is brilliant, so no excuses then.

Should win at least 3-0 you'd think - Millwall lost to Barnet at home and struggled past relegation candidates Shrewsbury through an undeserved penalty and some of the worst defending I've seen in my life for the first goal.

We are just too good for average teams in this league. Maybe we'll come unstuck against the better teams(haven't seen any yet, probably won't be any).

Didn't know Tommy Hatcher was on this forum - interesting. Any plans for another movie mate? Enjoyed 1 and 2 but thought 3 was quite poor.

It should be a interesting match! Both had good wins last Saturday and disappointing nights on Tuesday - Of course I am backing City to win but I can't see there being much in it, should be a good indicator to how our season may go
