I'm still having the odd scan through SaintsWeb looking for Jamie_SFC.

Don Tonberry is pretty normal for a Pompey fan too.

From LF's posts on the Facebook page (which no longer seems to exist) I got the distinct impression that it wasn't a co-ordinated admin decision, but an individual throwing their toys out of the pram. The last thing I saw, prior to it going offline, was Villaboy weirdly taking umbrage at TB's thread about establishing a new forum. Make of that what you will I suppose...

If that's it (and I rather hope it isn't) then it's a truly shitty way for the forum to go. I hope everyone manages to make their way to this place.

I'm done with the place. There are a few PMs I'd like to copy and paste, because they contain contact details and other bits of info I don't currently possess, but I don't feel comfortable on those forums anymore and I don't want to legitimise the course of action they've taken by participating in their self-congratulatory farewell ceremonies. We're not taking the granny to dignitas cos she's in pain, mum's fucking holding a pillow over her face cos she wants to shag dad in peace.

I'm just gutted that we'll never find out the results of TFF's top 100 books. :(

That is also the impression I got from Facebook. Not really sure how anyone can object to TB and SR setting up this forum, considering the whole idea is to keep the community alive post TFF.

Leaves a real sour taste if the site doesn't come back up (LF on FB said it would be back up in 12 hours but I have my doubts). By all accounts most of the admin seemed pretty 'for' people actively seeking a TFF replacement on the board itself. Whoever decided to take the forum down early has come across as a spiteful, egotistical c*** to be honest, fragmenting a community that has been built over a decade and for no reason other than their inflated sense of importance. What do they gain from preventing people move on to somewhere new together? Stopping people from constructing a dance floor on the grave of a fucking football forum?

My guess is that they wanted to be remembered, wanted to be the legacy of the place. Get the old band back together for one last ego scratching tour. Now they'll probably be remembered for all the wrong reasons. I appreciate the community they helped create, but that's what matters, not the fucking domain name.

To be honest, I'm enjoying this forum more already, everyone appears rejuvenated and we have an influx of quality posters who were banned for the most inane bollocks. They've inadvertently created something better.

Ta.

The way I see it is that they had been planning on evacuating for a while but didn't have a good enough pretext. The shoutbox incident gave them one. All the admin bar Pagnell were barely on it anymore. Rather than let the new guard take over, they decided to nuke it because apparently their skewed sense of nostalgia is more important than the preservation of a community that encompassed thousands of other people.

Great posts. Sums up what we were all thinking.

LF says they never shut it down and that he's not sure what happened.

Either way i'm pretty sure it will be back up soon.

Captain Scumbag emailed me. Lucky in that one day he checked something for me on a document in Excel, so we had previously emailed each other. He had no other contact apparently. I imagine he'll be along at some point.

Great to see so many switch over already.

My two-penneth is that TFF isn't actually closing (or at least wasn't), and it's just an elaborate April Fool prank. They've done it before, and the closure timings connected.

I'm sure if they were sick of running it, they would have sold it in. It's more than self funding through site traffic advertisement and member funding, so some one would have wanted it. There's too many members for that not to be an option.

Either way, this route sees the insightful & interestong members posting without any I'd the restraints and crap we've seen in the past few years. That's pretty cool.

That would be brilliant

As said by someone above, everybody seems to have gained an interest in posting again now, including myself. Maybe it's the fresh start we needed

I really hope this is a success. As Skinner said, its pretty refreshing to have a new site.

I really cant imagine this was an April Fools joke. If it is, then I cant imagine its gone the way they had planned!
