Oh, you mean your cup final? Just didn't get the rub of the green but that's football.

We don’t seem to be getting the rub of the green much do we?

8 out of 10 games in all comps so far this season where we just didn’t get the rub of the green. But that’s football.

One of the funniest things I’ve seen at a football game when he started mouthing off at our fans and giving out the hand gestures after getting booked for dissent

Fucking brilliant, Mardy twat. Hang em up fat lad you don’t need that in your life anymore
Aye just seen it .

Are Doncaster fans really complaining about that ?

Just watched the Donny - Chesterfield highlights what a fucking stupid second yellow from Molyneux, clear whistle he even looks at the linesman with his flag up and then still puts it in, what an absolute idiot.

Few chances for us but unlucky to hit the post and gifted you your second goal. Thought you looked a bit panicky at the end. Wouldn't get too excited if I were you.
We were absolutely shocking yesterday, especially in the first half. Thought Vale looked very dangerous until the got to our penalty area. Missed the goal on at least 3 occasions with headers when it looked easier to score. Having said that I'm not sure that our keeper actually made a save in the entire game. Even if we'd scored the first goal with the effort that hit the post we would have still been beaten. Worrying times for us. Final note. Well done to Vale's planning in keeping bot sets of fans apart. I didn't see any of the Vale fans outside the ground at all

After our player had already been booked for doing the same. Plank

As for us, felt like we really clicked after a few iffy results. On our day w have shown we are a good side at this level with the Crewe and Donny results but need to get some consistency. Araujo and Naylor in the side in their proper positions was a big win, and Mandy and Madden coming in gave us something different too. Berry’s third though, took it so well, can see why half the Championship are seemingly watching him

Outstanding from us today, best team from start to finish and we just let Doncaster self-implode on themselves in the 2nd half by losing their heads completely to make it even more straight forward for us. Donny fans going way over the top on the ref… fail to see anything he got wrong personally, although I can’t comment on Anderson’s straight red as it was down the other end of the pitch with loads of bodies in the way. The lad for you Molyneux got probably the thickest sending off I’ve ever seen… mouthing off at ref about god knows what on the HT whistle, and then followed this up by shooting after flag had gone up to earn himself an early bath. Probably just frustrated that he couldn’t get a kick against Gordon tbh.

Our pen was a clear handball, and if we’re honest, 3,000 chesterfield fans screaming ‘handball’ simultaneously right infront of the referee probably made it an even easier decision to give. I saw a few complaints about the corner it led to being offside in the build up from us, but the Lino put his flag down and the ref played on because you’d won possession back, and it’s not the refs fault your left back then decided to boot the ball out for a corner whilst attempting to pass it back to the keeper.

Anyway in terms of the performance, as I said at the beginning of this post I thought we were comfortably the better side all afternoon. Dunkley & Araujo absolute brick walls at the back and dealt with everything aerially that Donny through at us. Naylor back in the midfield is a game changer for us. If there’s a better box to box midfielder in the league I’m yet to see him, absolute quality and will make a big difference for us now that he’s back where he belongs. Liked what I saw from Madden up top too, linked things very well and got himself a goal too, and he’s still nowhere near being fully fit as only his first start of the season. Main thing for me now is the squad depth we’ve got back available. Being able to bring on the likes of Colclough, Berry, Grigg etc… will make such a difference for us moving forward, as proven by the brilliant solo goal by Berry to seal the 3-0 win.

Our fans were incredible today too, obviously helped by the way our side were playing on the pitch too, but one of the best away atmospheres I’ve been involved in for a long time. Shame Donny didn’t give us more as the corners next to our away end were just left empty.

I’m going to assume that was an off day for Doncaster as I thought they looked hopeless in all honesty, but 11 home wins on the bounce before today obviously shows that’s not their normal level. The lack of discipline would be a major red flag for me if I was a rovers fan though. The way their players heads completely went was so unprofessional. Didn’t like Mccanns post match interview either… it’s a shame more aren’t like Paul Cook in the way he just speaks honestly no matter how we’ve played and credits the opposition when they’ve been better than us. All I heard from McCann was moaning about the ref, and how none of our goals should have stood blah blah… poor from him.
Just watched highlights back, and noticed when the linesman put his flag up for offside before the corner that led to the penalty… he was flagging for offside on Madden directly from a GOALKICK!

Quickly realised his error and put his flag straight down so that makes even more sense now. Mental that a professional linesman could forget one of the most basic offside rules in the game, even if it was only for a split second

We hit the woodwork three times ourselves and wouldn’t say we got panicky, we saw the injury time out fairly routinely.

Picked up more points than anyone else in September, now third top scorers and had 20 or more shots again so as long as creating it’s fine, bear in mind we rested our top scorer until the last 25, our player of the season so far until the last 30 seconds and started a kid for his first start which was a surprise in Hackford so with the depth we have certainly plenty to be positive about, but it’s never that straightforward and each game is tough, Accrington are bottom but gave us arguably to most problems of all the teams we’ve faced, Notts a lino call from losing to Morecambe… every game is tough at this level in its own right so not getting carried away.

One game at a time and see where it takes us come May. The squad is there to be right up there but it’s down to the squad to perform and click together to achieve that.

A little harsh.

Low attacking threat today (zero first half in fact) but not this season. With our best striker out, our best player and our only ball winning midfield out it's not a huge surprise.

I find it a bit boring when oppo fans whine about injuries so I’m not going to start. I know why we were toothless up front yesterday, and also why that makes it doubly important not to concede soft goals to that carthorse Angol after 2 minutes.

It was a game of few really clear cut chances but the build up of pressure from us eventually told. Strange decision for us to play a rookie in Hackford, who never really got into the game. It's good to see that we can bench some of our better players and still succeed.

Swindon reminded me of us during the Aspin years. You can tell that there's been minimal investment in the team. Players like Butterworth and Drinan are never going to get you to the right half of the table.

Since the fans have changed ends, there's very little interaction between supporters. It's quite a well oiled machine.

I was just giving the more accurate full picture. 2 clean sheets in 8 which is disappointing is also only 8 goals conceded in 8 which is impressive especially when compared to last season. The shiny new defence so far has been a big upgrade on last season as you know. Matty Platt alone has achieved that.

It was an awfully soft goal to concede, embarrassing timing and Angola is a carthorse. All correct.

Jatta or Jones play yesterday we win imo. We also need Robertson's presence in midfield but Head Coach is hamstrung with the number of injuries currently

Conveniently forgets that you hitting the post was gifted to you by our mistake? Lol. Panicky? What, because your players finally learnt how to control a football and pass it to each other instead of just aimlessly hoofing it all over the place? Yeah, okay.

We should've scored at least 4 or 5, no doubt. He literally tipped a 25 yarder out for a corner, and then another one shortly after that, around the post? Think he made 4 or 5 in total.

Thought we were very good today, sat off at times and waited for a break (first goal was excellent teamwork followed by a great throughball), second I couldn’t really see very well, but it killed the game off. Some of our play at times was very impressive. Thoroughly professional performance along with attacking subs even when we went 2-0 up.

Barrow are very competent, well drilled and I expect them to do well this season (genuinely hope they do too for Clemence), but they do lack a little up front.
Funny how we can watch the same games and see things slightly differently.
I am with Bonner on this when he said he enjoyed the result more than the performance.
It was a very professional and clinical performance and I always felt we had another couple of gears if needed.
I would also like to see Barrow do well as Clemence is someone I have a lot of time for, but I was surprised at how little they offered yesterday, apart from one good save from Morris, they didn’t threaten all game.
We are getting a few back and a bench containing Hawkins, Coleman, Williams and Dack is very strong for this level.
Long way to go, but so far, so good.

the injury situation is dire ,guess we need to bring in an emergency keeper for Tuesday now - reckon both keepers will be out for a while

I know this sounds obvious but the difference really was the finishes.

We weren't amazing but were clinical and I'd say 4-0 slightly flattered us.

Colchester looked threatening but had no end product I think they'll do ok this season they have some good players for this level.

Yeah, it was never a 4-0 game. I thought we were much the better side in the first half but struggled to create anything and the opening goal was certainly against the run of play. I thought Walsall were really poor in that opening half and were passing the ball off the pitch more often than they were to their own team mates.

But, as usual, if you don't make it count when you're on top it seems to come and bite you. We created absolutely nothing in the second half which felt like a bit of a non-event really, and we were the side that started misplacing every other pass whilst Walsall began to take better control of things and it never felt as though we were going to get back into it.

We've shown enough that we should be comfortably midtable this season, but there is still plenty to iron out if we were to have any real hopes of threating any sort of play-off push. I guess that's ok after the past four seasons of misery.

Agreed, Gillingham will launch an aerial bombardment and I’d fear a pasting and massive knock to the lads confidence

Come on mate... you're better than that. The only part of that that is correct is "we didn't deserve anything".
Not taking anything away from Chesterfield, better team and deserved to win despite the officials. We were too slow, didn’t close Chesterfield down and allowed them to play. I’m not taking back what I said about those decisions. It wasn’t a foul for the free kick although that doesn’t excuse our defending and the Lino put his flag up during the attack that led to the corner, yes it was handball but why did the flag go up and the game not stop?

Because as I pointed out, the Lino put his flag up for offside direct from a goal kick!!! That’s why he put it down straight away cos he realised he’d fucked up lifting it

“Only one team looked to play football today and that was us. We got done on a set piece and a one off error for the second. We win that comfortably another day. Fans having a go at players at the end does no good - try and stick with us.”

The comments of a man under pressure. I didn't think Swindon played any football if I'm honest. The best bits of football came from us....yes, we mix it up buy that is the best way to be successful in this league. Trying to play like Man City with league 2 players is only going to end in disaster. 'We win that comfortably on another day'...what planet is he on? The impartial sky commentator said that the result flattered Swindon. They barely threatened our goal all game. I'd be very concerned if these were our manager's comments after that.

what does unlucky to hit the post even mean? i couldn't believe your guy shot so early when he did, such a small target to hit and would have been a ridiculous goal if it were to go in. Ripley saves easily if it's on target.

no panic from us, same as chesterfield really, not sure if that's due to the opposition barely laying a glove on us or that we're actually pretty sound at defending a lead in the last few minutes.

promise we won't get too excited at being the inform team in september, climbing the league, gelling nicely, scoring goals, creating loads as long as you don't get too comfortable with your 3 point buffer to the two winless sides in the relegation zone x

worst team I've seen this season, hit the post from a long range shot on what was a promising counter attack, and scored a decent freekick. "if they missed all their chances and we scored all ours, we'd have won". Yeah mark but if we scored all ours we'd have buried you by half time.

One of my mates saw it as a direct quote, so it may not be genuine but I heard parts of his interview which insinuated that we were a big bunch of cloggers who just loaded high balls all the time and they were trying to play like the 70s Dutch.

Sometimes these newbie managers need to understand pretty passing football with nice flicks and tricks doesn't always work.

So many seem to try and copy Pep without the players required for it obviously.

Not a week goes by without some goal been conceded after a right old cock up at the back.

Would be a bit foolish not to against a youth team keeper though surely?

Hopefully we'll get an emergency keeper in. Harvey Cartwright not even getting on the Hull is the obvious choice. Knows some of the defenders, Artell, the club and staff, etc.
