It’s a pisstake all round. Dover should be thrown out of the league. No two ways about it. Absolute incompetence from the dickheads running the league. 12 points and a 40k fine, do me a favour

It is what it is .Have been expecting to be docked 3 points. Of course only 23 teams in the league next season so a free weekend for someone each week. Hopefully everyone will take great pleasure in beating Dover next season

That’s one relegation place done next season, shocking outcome should have been demotion or 30 points to ensure they’re relegated. Knowing how shit some teams can be they could stay up but would need 60+ points, no chance.

If I was a Dover fan I'd have rather been relegated and start in the South on 0 than -12 in the NL.

They'll get relegated and they'll have wasted 2 seasons basically.

But financially they are miles better off. A fine of 40k when to play out the season would have been multiple six figure sums. Even the points deduction isn’t a disaster as there finances haven’t been shredded. They could, with a half decent season, pull that back.

12 points is a fair whack in my opinion. They won't stay up.

The finance side of things, if they'd fine them more they would take the club out of business. You could argue if they'd just relegated them that would be unfair on the teams in the step below.

I'd have maybe taken more points off to fully bury them for next year. I'd be surprised if they're in great shape heading into next season.

The odd thing about it is the original fine was for £200k

We're now 7 pts off the play offs instead of 5 pts, however still 11 pts off 4th.

Jokers should have been kicked out of the entire national league structure. Got away with it.

So apparently the grounds for a 12 point deduction were 3 points for every game they refused to play. Dover were only charged for the 4 games they refused to fulfil in February, not any others.

However, it looks like the NL have no intention of penalising Dover for the other 25 fixtures they're refusing to fulfil. Which is ridiculous. Should either just demote them or implement the full 87 point deduction, unless the NL genuinely believe that February fixtures matter more than later ones.

very light punishment imo.
12 points is easy to pick up if the club wants to try

What/ how much is the 'National League basic award' ?

I think they mean the lottery grant from the start of the season.

What's to stop the whole of the bottom half of the table now also stopping playing, and taking the 40k fine (they'd save the fine in a week or two of not playing) and the 12 point deduction (if they're all starting on -12 the deduction is meaningless)?

How can the National League reconcile such a lax punishment with the fact if a football league team gets relegated to this division in administration they don't get accepted into it at all.

Remember when the NL had a reputation for being very strict on financial issues and rules like this? I guess that goes out the window when you're mates with the board.

Given the season is closer to the end surely the fine would be smaller and points deduction ever less.

Closer to the end? . Dover were nowhere near half way through the season when they stopped playing.

No real change for us, Sutton were 6 points ahead with a game in hand, now they're 9 points ahead with the same number of games played. Just as if they'd won their game in hand, which they probably would have anyway. Notts are the big winners as they somehow managed to lose to Dover! At least now we all know where we stand.
