Former Hereford United chairman Andy Lonsdale is back in football. Thankfully it's nothing to do with Hereford but he is now a sponsor at Woking.

His company, Lonsdale Consultancy and Demoscapes, has agreed a three year deal to sponsor the new Leslie Gosden Stand

This is concerning..

If it's JUST sponsorship then not that concerning but any deeper involvement and Woking are in trouble.

The guy should have a lifetime ban from football.

EDIT: okay it's pretty worrying. They've namechecked Andy Lonsdale in bold at the top of the announcement, confirmed that he will be supporting the club's community project(!) - (the irony, i wonder what the local community in Feltham think of him) and described him as an "amazing guy" in the announcement.

Watch out Woking fans - looks like you need to get organised and call out your club's owners now.

Never heard of the guy, what’s the context?

That’s a very bold statement.

We had this a few years ago wealthy local man had no interest in getting involved with owning a football club ,just wanted to help us be more sustainable as a football club . He paid for Asante’s transfer and wages, then when covid struck and the club was in a vulnerable position that’s when he made his move with an aggressive takeover bid which thankfully failed.

Put the final nail in Hereford United's coffin, owned Feltham FC before turning their ground into an unlawful waste tip costing the council thousands and major environmental damage to the local area, banned company director with a long history of illegal fly tipping and questionable accounting.

Woking...officially Going for It.
Ahh always loved playing Woking when we were last down here, played them 9 times (8 league 1 cup) and we won 8 and drew once, and the one draw they managed to get against us we scored twice in injury time to get the draw.

In fairness Woking going FT is probably overdue. They easily have the attendances to sustain it and have done for a long time.

Isn’t it just ,all part of being shafted by previous owners who wanted to sell the old ground for development and pocket the money.

I've been interested to see the discussions on DC (yes I check other fan forums, because im a bit sad- I dont 'banter' on them though) about the future of the Deva with rising sea levels etc. How do Chester fans feel about the stadium? would you be against moving if the opportunity arose? a move to somewhere like Hoole would definitely elevate the pre-match experience!

The debate between Wealdstone and Woking on who's budget is smaller should make for an interesting one.

Yes it would be wonderful to move away to a more desirable location but I’m afraid it’s all down to money ,the land at the Deva is council owned so it’s affordable, and we have to fund raise constantly as it is to put a half decent squad together every season. It would be a pipe dream even if there was land available somewhere in the city, only a very small percentage of people in Chester care about their football club.

So apparently our youth team game with Stockport was called off today whilst the Stockport bus was somewhere between Chapel & Chesterfield today as they were told to turn back whilst en route due to an apparent Covid outbreak at the club....

Not going to impact the first team is it?

It shouldn’t if they’ve been following the rules properly - first team and youth team bubbles should be totally separate.

Yeah I get that, as great as fan ownership is you do have to make those sorts of decisions, and the Deva is perfectly adequate for the time being I suppose. But maybe one day, you never know. The New Colosseum!

There just isn’t anything that looks viable nearer to the City Centre really, Hoole would be great, but the playing fields are too small, the Royal Mail sorting depot would be a good site though. Just outside, anything near the Bache considering there is a rail service every 15 mins and a few pubs nearby.

The Deva would be better if Bumpers Lane extended and there was a bridge over to Saltney and the area built up a bit more. But the main thing for us at the moment is the £1m+ King George Training Facility going ahead in Blacon. That’s huge for us, fortunately we’ve stumbled across the best board and community team we’ve ever had in driving it. Phase 1 with the floodlit 3g pitch and clubhouse is hoped to be completed late this year.

If anybody was in doubt that racism is well and truly alive in this country then it's worth checking out the club's statement on Twitter re: Ryan Gondoh yesterday. Monkey emojis, accounts telling him to come back 'where he came from' etc. That fucking angers me so much, racists hiding behind these anonymous accounts with no fear of reprisal.

Add to that 7 players in total received racial abuse yesterday and the club's phone numbers were being called non-stop.

Just posted our financial statement for the year up to June 2020, 740k loss, which is our first season in deficit for a few years.

Thank god for the takeover, I dread to think what this years financial returns look like, not sure how we would have covered those sorts of losses.

What was the reduction in transfer fee income of 1.6m? Does that mean the previous season you sold players for over that and if so what was your profit that season?
