Our game at home to Notts County has been rearranged for Tuesday 1st March.

As a result of that, we now have 5 home games on the bounce at a pretty crucial stage of the season:

19th Feb - Solihull Moors
22nd Feb - Wrexham
26th Feb - Yeovil
1st Mar - Notts County
5th Mar - Southend

Bit crap that both Wrexham and Notts are Tuesday nighters mind, bet the plod are pleased with that
5 home games on the bounce is a positive but they look pretty difficult. Moors, Wrexham, Yeovil and Notts are all tough fixtures. Likely a make or break period for us re. The title.

Yeah I thought the same, they’re all difficult games. Being unbeaten at home so far this season gives you confidence but we’ve still drawn one or two too many of those games. It’s a travesty that we didn’t beat Torquay, Bromley and Alty after leading 2-0 in all those games!

The positive is that we should have the majority of our squad back to full fitness for that run of games. Will mean we’re able to rotate and keep the squad fresh during that will be an intense period without there being a drop off in quality!

Hmm, for me that’s a lot of pressure, 5 home games on the spin. I imagine you’d get pretty good odds to win ‘em all.

Having said that, every game feels high pressure in this season. We’ve got Dover and KL away in the next two and, having got ourselves back into it somewhat and with the expectation we should get 6 points, I’m already tense!

Taking six from those two would convince me more more than beating Wrexham and this run of wins over the other good teams. Away games against the bad teams are our problem.

Yes. Although I don’t think there’s been a away game we were really expected to win since Weymouth in September. Alty maybe in October but if I recall they were in pretty good form then. Since then we’ve had Halifax, Yeovil, Eastleigh (who we never beat), Grimsby and Borehamwood. I think Dover and KL are the first two ‘gimmes’ in a while, but you’re right, 6 easy points from them and not 4 with a late equaliser in one or something would be just as convincing as any one of the recent victories against our fellow brothers…

Big month for us, playing Weymouth, Dover, Shots amongst others. New signings too makes me a little optimistic....

I agree it's not ideal, we're a better team away from home to be honest

That’s one way of looking at it. However, 5 games at home on the bounce after a relatively ‘easy’ January should put us in a strong position. I’d rather be playing 5 on the bounce at home than 5 on the bounce away.

I was thinking exactly the same. Give me a home game over an away game any day of the week, no matter how good our away form is. 5 on the bounce can only be a positive surely

It should be Saturday 3pm whatever. It’s their turn to move.

Waited all week for this to happen & made plans for that day today!

Not sure I should cancel just to see you lot turn us over. How many do you reckon you’ll bring?
2000 will still be in the area on a fortnight long p1ss up when we beat Chelski

I’ll probably make one now. Wouldn’t have on a Tuesday. Considering 6000 in London this weekend, probably about 500

Really sad news, remember when I first got into Notts but was too young to go to away games really listening to Col’s commentary every other week. Completely unique style and his longevity will likely never be beaten.
Obviously means nothing to everyone on here but for Notts fans he was an absolute constant, only retiring from match commentaries a couple of seasons ago.
He loved the club, wrote books on is, compared events and even helped broker a deal that stopped us going through in the 60's.
He was from a bygone age, idiosyncratic but there won't be a Notts fan anywhere on the planet that won't be saddened tonight.

impossible to stop us now we’re playing for Uncle Col.

Absolutely blows my mind that my first memories of Notts involved his voice on Radio Nottm on the way to and from matches and even by that point he’d been doing it for decades. He was reporting on Notts years before my Dad was born and only stopped in 2017…and as mentioned above did a lot for the club behind the scenes as well.

Always sad when a character from in and around a football club, who really has a passion for the club, particularly in the lower league as we all find ourselves at the moment. They are stand out fans and so knowledgeable if you are lucky enough to get a chance to listen to them and their memories.

RIP

Saw these on Twitter and thought they were worth sharing - mid-season review for each team and a team of the season so far. Not much to argue with from a Notts perspective at all.

Also some good little stats in there. Huge fan of our status as the division’s chaotic entertainers confirmed by having both dropped the most points from winning positions and gained the most points from losing ones.

I'm always in awe at the amount of work that goes into stuff like this. Pretty sure I couldn't write 1 sentence about Weymouth, nevermind a few paragraphs. Got to respect it

Dover Athletic
The Dover one is perfect
In truth, there’s little that can be said that isn’t blaringly obvious from their points tally. Dover Athletic have played 22 league matches and failed to win any. They are the division’s lowest scorers and leakiest defence. They have led at half-time once all season and spent just 6.9% of their total minutes leading. Their squad is a mixture of non-league journeymen coming towards the end of their careers and young upstarts hoping to use this as an opportunity to forge a professional career in the game. There is no defensive resolve, minimal technical ability, a limited goal threat and a defeatist mentality. The club’s survival was the most important thing in the summer and all involved will have known that a tough year was in store but few will have anticipated it being quite this tough. It must be so disheartening.
