A much better performance from Maidenhead today. Devonshire finally changed back to 442 and that made it easier for the team to keep their shape.

Big old game against Wrexham ain’t it. We’re losing a bit of ground through not playing, but it’s really tightening up ahead of us.

Not bothered about losing ground tbh Jacob. With our run in if we’re still within touching distance come the last 7 or 8 games then we’re in a great position. I note for example Stockport have the current top 4 in their last 4, going to be lots of teams taking points off each other.

As for the Wrexham more, more must not lose than must win imo, but we do have a great record against the brothers this season so I wouldn’t be surprised at a home win. With Rodrigues out for us and Davies out for them, any neutrals will be disappointed at missing 2 of the divisions goats.

Best result of the day has to Maidenhead! The big spending bothers (and Notts) thank you!

Thankyou for the kind words. Something feels different about our group this season. More steel about us as well as the quality. I think we might fall short of the title but no doubt in my mind we have a very good shot at getting 2nd or 3rd.

Very good point for us. I had a feeling you'd get us in the end. I just hoped we wouldn't concede again ala Wrexham at home.

Onto Wild. Great manager how he assembles a competitive squad every season on a shoestring budget is fantastic. When our better players keep getting taken every summer. Got a bright future in the game. He's a tendency to sit on goal leads though only fault I can pinpoint.
Really? It's taken you 3 fucking years to realise he's a great manger? What sort of manager sets up defensively when he needs a win though? And wins 3-0? Your "opinion" isn't worth a light pal. :ds:

Very flat from us today, no tempo and no cohesion, which is what happens when you make 7 changes and play an 8th out of position.

Felt very much a focus on Woking team today, which is fine if we win on Sunday but anything less than 3 points and the plan has backfired

Aye, our last eight is almost laughably straightforward on paper. It’s eight of the current bottom ten, including all of the bottom five. :err:

If we’re no further off than the five points we are today, we’d have a big chance of doing it. Current top four have all got to come to our place as well where we’re extremely strong, we’re pretty nicely placed IMO.

Good professional performance at Alty..And suddenly we are third in the table.Scoring goals for fun and tight at the back but we still need to sort out our midfield.
We have only played 9 at home and 12 away so lots of home games in the second part of the season.
Plus the transfer window opens soon and there is talk of 2 signings before NC

I don't we can just award you the league like that, Notts.

Irrelevant anyway, Stockport have already bagsied it.

Ha, I just want an actual title challenge this year and not a doomed charge after falling 12 points behind. We’ve got the January sales to worry about before seriously thinking about it anyway.

Given our position, if that's what he did then Molesley is a fool. We should be taking one game at a time and not looking ahead, given Dagenhams form this was a game we should have been looking to get something from. Woking is a week away nearly, plenty of recovery time before then.

It'll be between ourselves and Stockport. Today confirmed it.

I’m not saying you won’t, and you did beat us, but unless you strengthen, really didn’t rate you compared to Stockport or Chesterfield. Notts county were a decent side as well.

We absolutely are going to strengthen next week. Two or three players incoming.

That said I think its odd to discount Chesterfield at this stage.

Shots were poor today, seen in the post above that they made lots of changes but still only came for a point with time wasting from the 12th minute. We should have won more comfortably but not too bothered it’s a win and another clean sheet which we do not have many of this season. Dover at home next, hopefully it goes ahead and we get another 3 points. Still don’t believe we’re good enough for anything but an outside chance of play offs but let’s see.

Good game; good point. It just felt inevitable Chesterfield would get the winner so glad we saw it out.

They were awful in the centre of the park first half, but once that was sorted took control of it.

Really liked the look of the left wing back and 12, although the squad must be really struggling with Covid cases to have to play the coach driver at centre half.

We really were. Weston and Oyeleke were both miles off it but Rowe subbed Weston and Oyeleke upped his game second half. Coach driver was Gunning, back from injury and looking about a stone heavier. Wrong decision to bring him straight back in. I liked Senior and your keeper seemed confident claiming crosses.

Yeah Weston was miles off it, since been confirmed by Rowe that he was one of the covid cases from the other week and admitted he got it wrong playing him.

Miller our left wing back your talking about was very good all game but thought your right back still did well against him, he normally tears people apart when he’s in that mood but your lad made it difficult for him especially in the first half

Gunning (the fat coach driver) is nowhere near fit, he’s been out for about 2 month and thrown straight into it when our best centre back was just sat on bench probably wondering why the fuck he’d been dropped.

So that's now Stockport, Notts County and Wrexham who are planning the open top bus parade.

We've lost one game all season. Just saying.....

I think Rowe has a bit of a personal thing with Gunning. He must really like his leadership qualities I reckon, because provided he can stand he seems to play, regardless of performance level or fitness. Grimes been a colossus.. Sorry dude my right hand man is back.

Yeah our right back Warren, was man of the match for us. You could tell Miller was a good player, but Warren absolutely did a great job on him. Our best two players in that first half Spence (17/cm) and Warren(rb) are both only 20 i think. I thought the game was quite tetchy due to the intensity, but I look forward to the return game later in the season.

You should be further ahead IMO. As you said, lost one game game all season, and had a striker in a ridiculous purple patch scoring every game. It definitely feels like you should be more than five points ahead of us with how it kind of feels like both teams have done so far, probably the same with some of the others just behind you.

It's just as odd to discount us at this stage. The thought process that we'll tail off keeps getting funnier every week ;)

We had 47 players out injured for about 2 months. We're top of the league and averaging 2 points a game, we're doing fine.

Also maybe shows how strong the competition is this year, when it feels like teams going at just a win or two off the pace aren’t quite consistent enough.

Reading Twitter, it appears as if it kicked off between chesterfield and Halifax fans after the game. Anyone seen/heard anything. Think it was between those types who don’t mind getting involved if you get my drift.

Be surprised if anyone’s manager had looked that far ahead. It’s what idiots like us on the internet do, not them.
