Monday 3pm:
Aldershot Town vs. Yeovil Town
Barnet vs. Dagenham and Redbridge
Bromley vs. Eastleigh
Dover Athletic vs. Boreham Wood
Halifax Town vs. Altrincham
King's Lynn Town vs. Chesterfield
Torquay United vs. Woking
Wealdstone vs. Southend United
Weymouth vs. Maidenhead United

Monday 7:30pm:
Wrexham vs. Notts County

Tuesday 7:45pm:
Stockport County vs. Grimsby Town

Getting this started as I'm sitting around nursing a sick dog waiting for another day out on the beers tomorrow. Probably the first really big game of the season at the Racecourse, and a big test for us. I think we can match Wrexham for football, but with a big crowd for their first home game of the season, it'll be much more of a challenge to live with them for intensity and physicality. I'd expect us to have a few slightly mad end-to-end games this season and fancy this as the first one, same chaotic energy as our play-off games had. That said, our tactic will almost certainly be to try and take the sting out of it and quieten the crowd down by dominating possession early on.

Think we'll make a couple of changes. Playing against ten men for so long yesterday may mean we don't have as many fitness concerns as we could've done. Joel Taylor missed that having been ill last week but apparently will play tomorrow, my best guess at the team would be:

Slocombe
Brindley - Rawlinson - Cameron
Kelly-Evans - Palmer - Francis - O'Brien - Taylor
Wootton - Rodrigues

Roberts to come off the bench as we need to look after him. Could easily be him starting and Rodrigues held back, though. Or them both starting.

More than anything, just really looking forward to tomorrow night. First competitive home match with a crowd in god knows how long, and better still against a top team at night under those massive floodlights!

Build up to it feels like it's a big cup match.. I'd settle for a point tbh but maybe I'm still in old pessimistic ways!

We seem to be playing a pressing game which Eastleigh couldn't cope with. With Lainton Hayden and Tozer we look more solid at the back .Going forward we will cause everyone problems. And our midfield with Jorden and Young is always likely to score spectacular goals.
Having said all that we are still work in progress and historically we dont turn up for big matches.
County played us off the pitch last season and we have just travelled back from Eastleigh .Should be a good match

Its a pity its only going to be two stands, but the crowd should be somewhere around the 6500 mark, which crammed into two stands should create a decent atmosphere. Love an evening game, although due to childcare duties I will be home watching on TV!

We aren't a team yet, and will get a lot better as the season goes on, but we've got some excellent individuals now. A couple of Eastleigh fans commented on how fit we looked as well, I know the training has been pretty intense and players are looking sharp under Parkinson.

By rights we shouldn’t even be on the same pitch as Wrexham, given their squad. Anything other than a home win would be a major surprise imo.

A pleasantly surprising win yesterday at Woking. It sounds like we were struggling the last 20 minutes or so and I suspect a lot of that will be down to lack of fitness with our minimal pre season.

Alty didn’t play yesterday so I have concerns they will be a lot fresher. They had a good win at Torquay so clearly no mugs. I wouldn’t be disappointed with a point in all honesty.

Why only two stands?

The Kop is out as per normal (although a new stand to replace it is pencilled in for work to start in 2022).

The stand behind the other goal has been having a lot of refurbishment work and its not quite ready. That is closed until the Woking game on the 11th

Quite right.

Little old Notts County, a team of Bank tellers, Posties and Bin men, should just be pleased to even be in the same league as Massive Famous Wrexham.

You're right, we haven't fallen that far that we should expect to lose at Wrexham. There's no club in this or the division above we shouldn't have reasonable hope of getting a result from when we walk on the pitch.
Having said that I think we'll lose tomorrow, not because we're a little old club but because we've a lightweight defence and midfield with a keeper who yo-yos between the goal and six yard line, never fully committing to get the ball.

I can't believe Chesterfield bribed the National League with their ill gotten gains to give them such an easy first couple of months. Their evilness knows no bounds.

Getting the innocent and unsuspecting Great British taxpayer to finance the squad AND bribe the National League is at least the third worst thing we’ve ever done.

Kings Lynn away for us then, which I don’t expect to be an easy walk in the park at all given their result at Yeovil yesterday

Think we will definitely see some rotation given the short gap between Saturdays game and Mondays, especially given the squad we’ve recruited. Predicted line up for Monday:

GK - Loach

CB - Kerr
CB - Gunning
CB - Grimes

RWB - Carline
LWB - Miller

CM - Oyeleke
CM - Khan
CAM - Clarke

ST - Payne
ST - Tshimanga

Rowe not started in the best of form and Payne performances in pre season means he deserves a start in my opinion.

Hopefully more scenes like this to make it 3 from 3

A new stand completely? Is the current one crumbling beyond repair as it's always looked like a decent end as long as it was up to standards etc?

Just reading about Quigley's injury, we were warned about this when we initially signed him on a three year deal. Maybe we just got lucky.

Yeah its got concrete cancer, completely condemned.

The redevelopment plans were started before the takeover, and its part of a wider redevelopment scheme jointly put together by the Council and Welsh Government. Normally this means it will be stuck in development meeting hell but the new owners seem to be doing their best to drive the project forward.

Lovely base covering there.
So basically they will both be rested unless they play.

Hahaha yeah, I can’t quite work it out. I’d be surprised if they both start, but you never know. It’s hard to know which one we would rest though because, even though Roberts had all those issues last season, he’s looked fine since coming back and come through two 90 min games, while Ruben had Covid disrupt his pre-season and came off in both games.

Yea it's got to be 9 from 9 tomorrow really, anything other than a win is a bad result. I just hope we step it up a level and show a bit more, I don't think we've looked great so far

They’ve not played anyone with a pulse yet.

Hiya sports fans. New poster here. Another chesterfield fan. I'll try to be more coherent than a couple of the town fans on here.

Playing as our left wingback. Done well so far but not really tested defensively. Obviously good 1 on 1 offensively but you know that.

Supposedly our owners will be there tomorrow, but so will a Ryan Reynolds stalker who has flown over from the USA and stayed in hotels through pre season, attending every game hoping to meet him.

She thinks Ryan has divorced Blake Lively and will get with her. Hopefully the police are onto it.
