No, they wouldn't, because the Aldershot groundsmen who actually know what they're doing would be on there doing stuff that actually helped in getting the water off the pitch. Despite the high wages, our footballers aren't drilled in groundsman duties when they sign here.

For what it's worth, I'm not convinced that even with a bit of effort from their end the game would've gone back on. The rain was certainly a factor, but as the game was the only one in the top 6 tiers England to be called off I don't accept that the rain was wholly to blame. More or less Aldershot's dodgy drainage.

Yeah, stating the obvious I know, but given no other games were called off I'm not having it that the rain was the only thing at play here. If Aldershot had a pitch that is fit for purpose, the game would've carried on. Ours isn't fit for purpose, so we're replacing it to avoid issues like this through winter.

I've heard that our players damaged the turf at the rec when trying to mop the water off the pitch, that would be brilliant. Make Aldershot beg Chelsea for another pitch.

I see Altrincham Phil Parkinson was named manager of the week by the Non League Paper, who marked the award by using a photo of Wrexham Phil Parkinson. Trolling or standard incompetence / tinpottery?

There's more than one Phil Parkinson? :ohm:

So I said our October could be messy. I was looking/hoping that we'd get points against Solihull, Eastleigh and Dover. 7 from them would have been great. Having lost against Solihull that leaves Eastleigh and Dover. I can't see us getting anything against Chesterfield, Dagenham or Boreham Wood. I wouldn't be surprised to see us concede 10+ in those three.

Basically, tomorrow feels like a must win. A point isn't enough. Eastleigh haven't won away from home though, so....

I’m sure you’re all dying to ask the age old question of ‘have Grimsby sold out this week yet?’

The answer is yes, yet again, the pull of another big name obviously too much to keep the crowds away
Struggled to get past 6000 then? Top of the league as well..

We don't all have multi-billionaire owners that can afford to rip the pitch up mid-season

Then accept that our fans are going to have a moan about your shite pitch and move on.

A pitch that’s fit for purpose :fl: give over. We’ve always had one of the best pitches at this level, hence why we’ve only had 5 abandonments in 29 years.
Seriously, what were we meant to do? We could have had 100 groundsmen out there, it wouldn’t have made a difference. Ultimately it was the ref that made the decision - if he’d have carried it on and one of your superstars like Mullin had got injured, you’d have been crying about that too. Likewise, if you were 2-0 down and the game got abandoned I expect you’d be cheering as well. Get over it, it’s one of those things, you’ll beat us later in the season anyway.

Five in 29 years? We haven't had any in that time.

Do you get particularly bad rainfall in Aldershot?

One of our key men did get injured, that's why it's so frustrating! I'm not too arsed about the result.

1 game called off at a professional club in the whole of England yesterday. Did the rain only hit Aldershot or something?

Had the rain card and the covid card played on us already. What's next?? Where does it end?

No one has played the petrol card yet.

Got there before Parmenter thought of it.

What made it even worse for the Wrexham fans who travelled to Aldershot was having to queue for 2 hours to have a piss before they left due to Aldershot’s disgraceful lack of toilet facilities.

Now drop it and move on.
Can agree that we are shit and have been for years.

Are you expecting us to build a new ground this week to fit more in or something?
Still an incredible gate at this level.

Grimsby are on track to top what Lincoln managed on average in their promotion season.

Incredible across the board in this league, think Covid has had a say in that a bit though with fans desperate to get back. Saying that, the average gates for us, you, Notts and potentially Chesterfield are far higher than the bulk of L2 clubs.

I think our game at home to Notts at the end of the month will almost certainly see a gate of 7.5k ish

We will never forget WHAT ALDERSHOT DID.

It's still not in Guiseley's league though. Pure evil that lot.
I must say I've really enjoyed not hearing about Guiseley these last few years. Are they still going? There were a few seasons when they were like a clinker that got stuck to our arse as we squeezed past them on our way back from oblivion. They tiresomely tried to drum up a rivalry with us and pretended for all the world as though they were in any way our equals. Their 2 fans even hung out on here for a while, but I guess they fell away when they started losing. It was the usual story of a wealthy board tipping money in by the truckload, of course. Then they grandly announced, mid season, they were going full time and were going to "push on for the Football League". That was the moment it all went wrong. For a while they were paying a fully contracted part time squad to stay at home, while simultaneously paying a squad of "better" players and a manager who'd failed at Chester, huge wages to lose, full time. Oh dear, great fun to watch. :ds:
