Scrappy win for us at Guiseley, mind you it's good because we've been rubbish at that sort of thing this season, especially away from home.

Four unbeaten at the moment with three wins which really should have been four but for the late mishap in midweek. No game next week so a little break now.

Alfreton 2-2 Southport

I know we have a reputation for being direct, but Alfreton make us look like we play tiki-taka! Game of two halfs today, us deservedly going in 2-0 up after bossing a lot of the first half, Alfreton getting it back to 2-2 following a sustained aerial bombardment. We had a goal disallowed late on after their keeper flapped at a cross and decided to go down holding his face whilst we eventually put the ball in the net after some further wrestling moves from one of their defenders on Hmami, but the referee fell for the play-acting. To be fair to Alfreton, they seemed to have a strong shout for a penalty from a handball which the ref ignored too. Draw probably fair result in the end.

Top class trolling today. From the pre match PA music being charmless man, blurred lines etc, to aubergines being placed in the away dugout and a 90 minute barrage of abuse towards Rowe which ending in him, unsurprisingly, losing his cool and saying he'd "see people in the car park after the game."

He couldn't have run down the tunnel at the final whistle much quicker. That was the best display of the season, every player properly up for it and a well deserved three points. Welcome back James.

Another flawless display from the lads today and apart from the minor dubious penalty blip. I thought we played some delightful football on a not so good pitch and totally outclassed a decent Boston side.

It's been a tough week against the likes of Southport and Boston. But with the momentum that we have going we've brushed them aside with ease.

Once again the whole team performance was man of the match for me, fantastic stuff!

I think the titanic sank slower than Curzon are currently!

Seem to be doing ok in the games but getting thumped, think effort and confidence gone after them bad performances vs bottom teams

Another defeat for Chorley, sounded like we played goofball again, no depth to squad 2 players brought in but as suspected they filled the bench.

Game on... Can't see Gateshead dropping virtually any points in the run in given their fixtures - but we've given ourselves a shot.

Wasn't a great game to watch from the stands entertainment wise, nevertheless the goal was well worth the entrance fee from Mondal after Lambert played a great ball to him on a desperately bobbly pitch.

I thought Ellis was outstanding in defence with his no nonsense head clearing along with Lawlor. I thought we bossed the first half without creating a great deal. And Taylor didn't really have a busy afternoon other than he was well beaten when Leamington rattled the crossbar from a distance.

It wasn't a Southport or Boston performance from the lads. But hey at the end of the day a wins a win and I'll take these results all day long!

What a sigh of relief to hear that final whistle!!

Hold your thoughts they've got to play us in a few weeks. In our current form at the moment we'll be brushing them aside.

Guiseley have lost every away game in 2022 in all competitions, 9 defeats in a row.

While in the league they've failed to score in 8 of their last 9 matches.

Poor result at Telford but a terrible refereeing performance. A clear handball and penalty to us brushed aside, we still haven't been awarded a single pen this season.

Time to sack Lakeland it’s all going drastically wrong at Curzon although think confidence has taken a big dent currently due to doing so well and it collapsing so that bit of fight has gone.

But the run is so horrific at
Present it usually just carries into next season which we cannot afford

Southport 0-1 Kettering

An awful game where neither side really deserved anything, the difference being a penalty for a foul that may or may not have been in the penalty area.

We had 13 fit players today, and that includes a 40 year old back-up goalkeeper. Charlie Munro hobbled off in the first half, so when we were chasing the game we had no way of changing things.

One win in 10 now, and our next 2 games are Kidderminster and Fylde. We also have a visit to Gateshead at the end of the month. I honestly think we're going to throw all of our hard work away.

You got a decent point at SJP, whatever has gone wrong perhaps you can fix it after Tuesday.

Looking bleak for Guiseley, some tough games coming up for them. We play them at Meadow Park Saturday, must win for us. I think if we get three points that's us good.

Think brackley may have flogged their title chance last night, not been able to go lately to Curzon due to young kid (thankfully considering results) but was a decent point last night if too late.

If they wanted title Brackley really needed to score vs a side which is leaking goals for fun, their lack of goals may cost them dearly

I`d give Curzon a bit more credit, they looked like the side that dug out that 0-0 at SJP earlier in the season, rather than the one that has been shipping goals for fun. Listening to Lakeland, sounds like a couple of injured defenders were back and stiffened the defence.

Brackley would have wanted three points, but have slipped into top position, and have to hold it. Agree that we haven`t scored freely enough for potential title winners, but the defensive record is unbelievable. Every game a cup final now, to coin a cliche. Seven 1-0s equals promotion!, and four at home. Darlo play both the top two in five days, maybe they will have a key say.

Exciting though, for a small club in Northants, now with the trappings of "success" after the brawl on Saturday. From what I could see, it was a Gateshead group the worse for beer-wear, and struggling with the disappointment of losing.

Hulbert was on fire for a few months with us, scored almost every game and looked a real handful. He looks pretty knackered now tbh, he's played every game due to our huge injury list but could do with a rest.

Tomlinson started off a little slow, good little player and very direct but no end product. Last month however he's arguably been our best player. Really come into form.

Martinez hasn't been with us for long but looks solid enough if a little raw which you'd expect at his age.

550 at Chorley, that’s absolutely awful.
It is, but it has been coming for some time, the Owners just dont communicate with the fans unless they want money, which they do all the time, add to this the rising cost of living plus a number of home games one after the other and I guess its inevitable. Our squad has been too small all season but the Owners eont back the Mabager by extending, it's too late now, of course. We cant afford promotion anyway and havent really recovered from going up last time.

Clearly no-one's going to say no to promotion... but it isn't so appealing when you hear this and see the examples of Guiseley, Alfreton, King's Lynn, North Ferriby and for a while Altrincham. It clearly can take a big toll on a club. If Brackley ever do make it, I hope we'd just give it a go with the current players and budget and accept will probably be straight back down, rather than create debts and divisions or have to rebuilt a whole new team post a relegation. Mind you I am getting rather ahead of myself here.

I think you may be better placed than Chorley were your " backer" seems to know what he is doing without overspending, I also think that geographically you are better placed for promotion from the travel expenses point of view, as there is a "southern" leaning in the Nationsl League. Good luck to you, Brackley have been so consistent over the years you deserve a chance.

Very kind of you! Agree on the geography in the NL, I counted eight or nine easier journeys than those like up to your place (hospitable as you guys are, of course!)The club seems to be run intelligently, within spending parameters, possibly why the squad is thin in quantity whilst heavy in quality. It`s in our hands, but still along way to go.

City 4 Guiseley 1. We stormed into a 2 nil lead early doors and it looked like we could rack up quite a score. But we conceded an absolute shite goal and from that moment it sparked life into Guiseley, they hit the crossbar and we were a tad grateful for the HT whistle.

Second half, a wonder save kept it at 2-1 and then we proceeded to miss chance after chance. Thankfully a third did come and we hit a fourth not long after. We could have scored 6 or 7 but for a 20 minute spell in the first half we were really poor and Guiseley really should have equalised.

That should be us good now.
