I think this season if we actually have a good one we will have some great attendances, mind you though we had some great support at times last season and the season before that even though we were in a relegation battle and playing poor football.

I'll just leave this here. ;)

Im really looking forward to getting to some proper football grounds as opposed to pre fabricated boxes that look the same on all 4 sides!!

We were there in the cup a few years ago, it will be a new experience for us all.

You're in for a right treat this season Mark! I think it was stood on the away end at Tamworth in our first season down here watching us lose 2-1 when it first really hit me just how far we had fallen.

Thankfully I missed our 5-0 defeat at Braintree very early in the next season as I was in Hull Royal Infirmary having my head carved open. I reckon that was probably better than being at Braintree that night! :bg:

PS. You did a great job last season Cards Fan so well done for volunteering again. I'll try to make sure you get all Grimsby figures, although they're usually not hard to come across if the other Mariners fans on here don't update you as they usually do.

Frustratingly i work saturdays now so my travels will be limited, i do wanna try to get up to cleethorpes as ive never been to your place, i will do as many midweek ones as poss getting tues and wed off will not be a problem, i love driving too so i will be up for getting a few more grounds off my list.

Its already sunk in we know we will probably hammer a fancied side on the saturday then lose to 2 part time teams in a row, ive been a tranmere supporter since 1985 so im more then used to them breaking my heart

It'll hit you at Welling, what with that small open terrace backing on to the high street with double decker red buses stopping at the traffic lights pretty much right behind the goal. When someone succumbs to making a wise crack about parking the bus, you'll know you're here.

Or the Vision's place, that's as tinpot a setup as you're likely to find, this coming from someone who's watched us three leagues down from here.

Or Dover(?) where the bus can't get up the hill to the ground so you have to walk the rest of the way with equipment etc.

Strange ground that was the slopeing pitch and entrance to dressing rooms reminded me of a ground much lower down pyramid. Was weird seen golf buggy at bottom or ground next to rugby pitch. Wont be back in a hurry

So, whose away ends are the best for atmosphere? I'm looking forward to visiting a lot of new clubs this season, and I'm particularly looking forward to seeing us play Chester in a competitive game. I'm too 'young' to have seen us play them in the past! It's our first proper league derby in a long time.

Atmosphere allowed in the away end? Oh no hang on, Barnet have have left...my bad.

Halifax probably have the best 'away end' in the league but they seldom open it up, they've only done so for Luton in absolutely yonks. They open up the rust bucket of a stand down the other side for the top four or five sides in the league in terms of support, but when hosting the tinpot lot they seem to go with just two stands open. Otherwise you're looking at Lincoln, Grimsby and Kiddy really.

Some of the far southern sides won't even segregate, the likes of Welling, Braintree, Dover, Eastleigh etc etc, although some did with us first time but relaxed it on our next visit.

Looking forward to Kiddy next Saturday, over 900 tickets sold already and they're not even on general sale yet.

Hopefully the caterers there will be well stocked up!

I'm sure they will be we need all the cash we can get :fl:. I think we're expecting about 4000 depending if you sell your allotted 2100 tickets so the atmosphere should be brilliant.

Doubt we'll sell all 2,100. 1,500 sounds about reasonable.

If you bring 700+ and therefore make us open the East Bank section of the away end ours is pretty good. Otherwise its not great.

You know you're tinpot if you don't get segregated at Altrincham (Braintree, Eastleigh, Welling, Woking, Kidderminster, Dover and Forest Green take a bow).
