385 Tranmere on a 13 hour round trip, we are massive*.

*I don't mean McNulty, Higdon and Taylor-Fletcher.

It is a decent turnout for the SWA, more than I'd expected.

Unsegregated so hard to tell but seemed to be between 100-120 Chester at Eastleigh today.

91 Gloucester at Stockport- pretty good for them- only confirmed figure.
About 60 Boston at Chorley, pretty grim for us

And before anyone says it, it was NOT free travel. £17 members £22 non member £10 juniors.

Shows that free travel makes no difference to the size of our away support, we took a similar amount to Halifax for free and that's slightly closer. This is a 600 mile round trip.

Sorry, forgot nailsworth was a massive city like Liverpool....

He's got a point, Mr Sarcasmo. Even pro-rata, 51 is not decent - it's bang average. That's just 3% of your home attendance, for a team aiming for automatic promotion. Purely as a comparison rather than a boast, we took nearly 8% over a similar distance today to Dover. Looking at other teams figures, there are plenty pushing over 10% too.

Not really. Pretty average for us.

Although Macc is relatively close distance wise (well, 78 miles) it's a bastard of a place to get to from here. It takes 2-2½ hours on a long, winding A-road.

As a comparison, they're saying there were 1200 Shaymen at Nantwich, minimum. Nothing remarkable about that, it's the least you'd expect a REAL football club to take when it has a sniff of winning something. :ds:

I doubt that, like the Mariners, a fair proportion of those will be South East based. I'm not saying it's not a good following mind.

Not that I care about attendances but surely the 51 Guiseley to Bromley is the best comparison to the 51 FGR to Gateshead. 30 mile or so difference in journey (FGR travelling further), however Guiseley have a massive club on their doorstep who no-doubt take the majority of their potential support, and their positions in the league are complete opposites. Then of course there is taking the percentage of their average home attendance into account (I don't know either's by the way).

In addition we had some northern based Bromley fans travel down to the game on our supporters club coach. Proper non-league spirit

Aldershot population 36,000
Nailsworth population 6,000

Years in football league

Alldershot FC/Town 65
Forest Green 0

When either of the above stats get closer then our away support will grow to a similar size to yours. Until then making comparisons is ridiculous.

And we used to take 50 odd to Gateshead/Barrow etc when we were shit and skint. So us doing well has nothing to do with the size of our away support. It's pretty consistent. We now have a large amount of young supporters, many of whom want to travel but can't due to there not being enough responsible adults with the time to travel. As our fanbase grows(which it is) and the large amount of youngsters get a bit older and keener, our away crowds will start reflecting the growth in our home support. I'm pretty confident that we'll be taking at least 150-200 everywhere in 3 or 4 years time. The enthusiasm is there, momentum is building and we've got a supporters trust who are making things happen. Interest in the club is at an all time high.

As a comparison, they're saying there were 1200 Shaymen at Nantwich, minimum. Nothing remarkable about that, it's the least you'd expect a REAL football club to take when it has a sniff of winning something. :ds:

You're right, nothing remarkable. We took a lot more then that to Swindon and not much less to Bath in the FA Cup. Big cup games bring out the day trippers, especially at semi proper part timers like FC Halifax who's only hope of any tangible success is through the FA Trophy.
