Why on earth did you ever think he was a LB, apart from being left footed.

Probably because we had a couple of very good centre mids at the time in the U18s, Jack Taylor being one who is now a Championship player.

Can’t add much more to what my fellow pies have said. Best performance in ages from us, full of legs, creativity and fight, renewed hope for the season tbh, Vincent, Palmer and Cameron excellent. But Stockport, dear me - looked a team of individuals rather than a collective today. Never really pressed us or anything. And still knocking it around the back four with five minutes to go at 0-2 down. I was convinced you were going to equalise from that corner though. Was only really impressed with MSH at times, don’t think Quigley or Sarcevic were match fit. I imagine Madden going off knackered the plans a bit though, he was just starting to pressure us in the final third before he went off.

Off the pitch, a great away following and atmosphere overall with almost 8k thorough the gate - ridiculous that was non-league fixture to be honest.

Hope Stocky and the others who travelled down enjoyed the hostelries of Nottingham at least!

Yes I did thanks mate, a fine City. Got dragged to Hooters which wasn't really in my plans and meant I couldn't buy Jacob a beer.

Meadow Lane looked in good shape, last time I went we were in the Kop in League Two. Never understood why you used to put the away fans there. Thought you looked in good shape and yep if we'd smuggled one in at the death from one of those corners it would be criminal.

Typical LJL miss but why is the best player in the league passing from that position?

It's a shit pass as well. Obviously should score, but makes him really stretch for it.

Someone on our Facebook fans group complaining about young Stockport fans in Hooters singing and ‘doing things in the toilets’, I hope that wasn’t you Stocky ;)

Anyway, sounds like you had a decent day except for the 90 minutes of football, usually the worst part of most Notts away days to be honest. In fact pretty much every away day at this level, I would wager.

Just listened to Hurst post match and he said that exact same thing. Shouldn't have passed it, was a poor pass and a poor miss.

Anyhow, not a great performance and apparently the dressing room knew it wasn't, Hurst said they were rather flat afterwards.

Still a 2-0 win so can't complain too much. Sign of a good side are ones that still win when not playing well.

There were loads of knobheads around today from our lot to be honest. You say young fans, there's plenty of old ones who should know better from what I saw.

Plenty of infighting and arguing amongst our lot too in the stands.

Luckily I'm long enough in the tooth to disassociate others' behaviour and what SCFC do on the pitch, to spoil a good day out.

Tough one to take today. Thought we were the better side for the majority and we scored 2 great goals. Bromley created very few clear cut chances, and their second (Mitch Walker OG) is one of the worst own goals I’ve ever seen - unchallenged from a corner and punched into his own net.
As soon as Bromley went 3-2 up they went into classic game management mode, and didn’t give us a sniff.
Definite signs of improvement, particularly going forwards, but our defence is as bad as I can ever remember it (all recruited by Searle). I’ve also never seen a team so incompetent at defending set pieces - truly shocking.

Just had a look at the league table. Amazed Rusk is still in a job. 10 goals in 11 games with the resources they have! Just to put that in context, that's 3 less than Aldershot, 4 less than Weymouth and half of what Woking have.

Let’s revisit Stockport’s goals scored stat after Tuesday’s game…

Expected a much harder game today with Barnet picking up a bit recently but it should of been 6 or 7 by the end. Mullin is a class apart. Brisley coming in and Tozer into mid has made us look much more solid and a threat on set peices finally.
Change of system has worked wonders the last 2 games although we can't get carried away we've played Marine and Barnet.
Barnet managers interview is a strange watch. Never heard an opposition manager want to talk about good the other team were so much rather then focusing on his own teams shortcomings

Gutted we didn’t score a few more today, absolutely dominated on the ball today Southend could not live with the movement of our tricky players. Great support from Southend fans who must be going through the ringer with their club, Martin don’t deserve them.

Massive two games with Halifax away and Chesterfield, we will really see where we are 5pm next Saturday.

Can't disagree with anything you said there.

This year is literally about staying up that’s how far this great club has fallen. I’m confident we will but don’t get me wrong this side is truly woeful. There is absolutely nothing about this team that inspires they really are so bad. Brown has fucked us signing a load of old shit James Dunne Christ Barnet fans warned us

He’s become a bit of a cult figure here through not playing, we signed him injured in the summer and Burchnall has constantly been like ‘wait til he’s ready’. Finally come into the team the last two games and he’s just been an injection of everything we needed. Early days, but I’m sold. Frankie V ultras.

In other news, is Quigley like that against everyone else or does he just save those performances for us? My last pre-lockdown memory is him two-footing our goalkeeper in the face at Barrow and getting sent off, and his display today was basically embarrassing. Couldn’t hold the ball at all, made a million fouls, several embarrassing dives and nearly decapitated Kelly-Evans before Rusk hooked him so he didn’t get himself sent off.
That was his first start of the season except for 10 mins and then off injured second week of the campaign.

We’ll see how he gets on but I can’t understand why we didn’t pay a bit more and get Tshimanga.

I think Tshimanga cost more than ‘a bit more’

How much did Tshimanga cost?
The famous 'undisclosed fee'. There's lots of conjecture with the most likely I think falling around 100-150k up front with the same again in extras further down the line, based on goals and appearances and such like. A lot of money for this league but so far seems like a good investment

Whatever it was he’s worth it

Aslong as he avoids a serious injury, I think he will either help fire us to promotion at some point in these next couple of years, or he will be sold for a big profit especially considering he’s only 24. Got everything you’d want in a striker… quick, strong, work rate off the ball and boy can he finish!

I wouldn’t say we particularly sat in after the 2 goals. We played pretty much the same way all game, their goal was an absolute freak with a clanger from the normally very reliable Loach.

Boreham Wood were exactly what you’d expect… physical, tough to break down, but they offered absolutely nothing in an attacking sense. For us, Tshimanga was outstanding and scored a great goal, linking up well with Rowe all game. I also thought King, Oyeleke and Gunning were excellent throughout aswell

Both Boden and Evans proved Rowe was right in releasing them at the end of last season, neither would get anywhere near our team now, even with the current injury crisis

Another couple of knocks picked up today aswell, with Miller having to go off in the first half and McCourt basically limped to the final whistle with his peg leg! Hopefully neither are serious. Onto Eastleigh (H) this Tuesday for the return of Tom Whelan…
Ah fair dos mate, I was listening to Tooleys commentary and it was mostly all 'here come Boreham Wood again' after we got the 2nd. So long as it was mostly toothless pressure though you don't mind do you

Yeah mate second half they had a lot of the ball but it was in safe areas for us really. You can tell they’re not built for chasing games, they didn’t have a clue what to do! They’re very well built for scoring first and turning games into scrappy stop start shite but thankfully they weren’t able to do that to us!

Also Ashmore took the dogs abuse well in fairness, I was fully expecting him to lose his head at some point in the 2nd half but he didn’t and he clapped the KOP at full time (whilst still having ‘FAT LYING B*STARD, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE’ rammed right down his throat )

Just saw the highlights, Ashmore is an incessant clown. Every time you see him play he's up to something.

Said it in the summer, Tshimanga has been the best striker in the league for the past 3 seasons, it was staggering he stayed at Borehamwood for so long.

He stinks of someone definitely going to be signed by Peterborough in the next couple of years and then sold again for about £25m to some promotion chasing Championship side.

Yeah, i felt a little edgy after Evans scored (WTF was Loach doing there?) but that was more because of the leads we have thrown away so far this season and very little to do with what Boring Wood were doing. I don't recall them creating a half-chance, let-alone a good one after that. We played reasonably well i thought considering the opposition and injury list we have, definitely deserved winners.

Man, i wish that Ashmore fuck up, Evans header back had gone in.....would have probably been one of the best things i'd ever witnessed at a Town game!

What was worrying from your point of view is that we were in 2nd gear for most of yesterday. We came to life for 20 minutes or so in which we scored 3 goals and your keeper pushed one onto the bar. First half was a scrappy affair where we weren't at it. After the goals, we relaxed and just played out time probably with one eye on a tricky trip to Halifax on Tuesday.

Southend's problems for me started with the midfield 4. Egbri to me was an issue and I think we put Weston on him for that exact reason. A small risk as Weston is not the best at defending himself but Weston had far more threat going forward than Egbri did. When you have a player of that size in your side, he needs to be something special and it's no surprise we got in down his side far too often. On the other side, Bridge is just a very 'meh' wideman. Not a lot of pace or trickery. When you have Dunne and Ogogo as your midfield pair, you need something special out wide and neither winger had an ounce of creativity about them. Talking of Dunne and Ogogo, that's an awful pairing. Ogogo can still do a job at this level but he needs to play in a side where others around him have the onus of being creative. Dunne has fallen off a cliff from the player we had on loan a lifetime ago. Slow and plodding.

Up front, Dalby looked like an ok hold up man but offered nothing in the way of threat whilst Murphy's movement was as good as ever but he had scraps to feed from. As for the keeper, he had a mare bar one excellent save onto the bar. Back 4 don't really stand out in my memory as commanding or awful.

To be honest though, Ogogo and Murphy aside, you need to rip up the squad. How Akinola can't get a kick in this squad is beyond me.

Well that was another dispiriting experience. We just couldn’t cope with Wrexham when defending their set pieces and Mullin had a field day against our raggedy defence with our midfield too slow and plodding to help cover them.
