First away day is Grimsby which isn’t fantastic but it seems my usual math going group are organising a bus.

Where is best to drink Mariners? Last time I went we ruined your day (2006)
It didn’t actually ruin the day, Orients late winner at Oxford meant our result that day turned out to be irrelevant anyway.

Was funny watching the fireworks and balloons go up just before we equalised though

Thankfully I wasn’t there that day, I remember hearing about Orients goal first and being gutted about that and then your equaliser was like the icing on a cake that was made out of dogshit.

Wrong, Cleethorpes in August is a fantastic away day. There's not really much in the way of pubs in the immediate vicinity of Blundell Park (the Blundell Park Hotel is tiny and home fans only), however the bar in the away end is run by our trust and often receives glowing reviews from travelling fans.

Other than that, you're best off heading up towards the seafront and visiting some of the pubs and bars around there. The Number Two at the train station is tiny but great and usually has a decent set of ales on. The Number One just outside the station is also a very good option. If you've got more time to spend in Cleethorpes i'd strongly recommend the Nottingham House, Willy's and Mucky Muldoon's (at the King's Royal Hotel) although they're all a good 20-40 mins away from the ground depending on how fast you walk. There's also always the Wetherspoon's 2 mins from the station, although i've found the service there on Saturdays has been shite the last few times i've been in and you're often waiting ages to get served. If you're into craft beer there's also Message In A Bottle which is primarily a shop, but has a bit of a seating area and usually has one or two beers on tap on the weekend.

I managed to pick up a dreadful hangover the last time I had a night in Cleethorpes, Willy’s despite the dreadful name was alright.

I’ve never minded it for a stop over, cleethorpes/grimsby looked a lot better in the fog too!

Sadly there’s been a few idiots recently from both sides who’ve caused trouble which has caused a few of the games to be earlier kick offs.

Thankfully wasn’t any bother at either game with grimsby last time so hopefully be a normal KO.

August is a cracking time to play there away

Never stopped over for a game, got friends that live locally. Think last time I went to a game was on New Years or boxing day and they put loads past us

Aye, that was back in the conference, we lost 7-2.

I was going to go but fractured my ankle on new year’s eve and it ended up in a cast so couldn’t make it, that was at least one positive!

Seems we have the go ahead to replicate the card display that we had against Sunderland in the FA Cup.

I’m usually not a fan of these, but the last display actually looked alright.

Even though I don't agree with this ever, I can understand Harrogate for you lot but Hartlepool? Did that happen last season?

No, but there was a bit of trouble. Steward got banged and five other City lads were in court just yesterday due to altercations with Hartlepool fans.

The establishment call it football violence, I call it pissed up shenanigans.

That early KO will prevent anything further, though.

Think a female steward got stamped on in the away end, then there was a volley of bricks flying on Clarence Road after the match, mostly daft kids, big overreaction from the local plod, probably just an excuse to increase the police bill.

Our home games against Stockport and Crewe have been moved to Friday nights. Unfortunate for both teams, as we just do not lose on Friday nights at Prenton Park.

That Stockport one could be over 10k. Be brilliant.

Always Friday nights when we play at Prenton Park. Can't remember the last time we went on a Saturday.

GTFC might fill Orients allocation for our first game of the season, a lot of interest in going down to Leyton for the match. Last time I was there we had about 1,500 or so.

What's the full allocation these days?

Danny Johnson is in Scotland for our training camp, I’m really surprised he’s not been signed by a fellow L2 side yet

I’m not. Predatory finisher and all, but he’s a jumped up little twat who was disliked in our dressing room and frankly doesn’t have League Two ability outside of his poaching instincts. An absolute passenger in general play.

About 1,400. Sure you’ll be there en masse; first game back in the EFL and a top-3 away day in the division to enjoy for it. Lucky sods. Will you brave the pie, mash & liquor?

Yeah absolutely no chance we aren't selling that out. There'll be plenty of disappointed Town fans missing out.

You guys are always the best away fans at Brisbane Road I think. Enjoyed the last time you were down with the Aalst lot. When I was living in Belgium I used to go watch Berchem and went over and had a good chat with some of the Aalst lads when they were in Antwerp, about their trip to Brisbane Road.

Yeah, it's always good when the Aalst lot come over. That "we're Aalst and Grimsby" chant from that match has morphed into "we're all from Grimsby" now and has established itself as one of our main chants. I missed that match though, as Orient were very late in letting us know that we could pay on the gate and I made other plans. Still regret missing it as it looked like a top away day that one.

No chance; only tried it once never ever again, it was a place down Bermondsey Street, had a bit of hangover at the time and nearly threw up, I thought the liquor was some kind of runny mushy pea thing, until I tasted it. I tried some eels as well, tasted like sewage, or how I imagine that would taste.
