Didn't really fancy putting this in the football section or in the music section, but I wondered whether anyone on here listens to any podcasts, sport or otherwise on a regular basis?

Personally love The Football Ramble.

Personally love The Football Ramble.

The Football Ramble is my favourite too, it's hilarious. Other than that it's mainly other football ones like The Game, Football Weekly and the podcast versions of 5 live and 606.

The Guardian Football Weekly is a good football one as well. A very different kind of humour to The Football Ramble, which is just as well since they cover more or less the same material each week.

Football Ramble is one I listen to every week along with the World Football Phone In.

Also listen to Little Atoms which is a good non-football listen. Different guest(s) on each week talking about their books or current projects.

Astronomy Cast is a superb resource of around 300 podcasts on different aspects of astronomy and space. It's wonderful. Probably my favourite podcast and one I never miss.

The Bugle is the best podcast.

Other ones I listen to regularly include Guardian Footbal Weekly, Cricinfo's Switch Hit Cricket, Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre, Welcome to Nightvale, Kermode and Mayo's Film Show, the Football Ramble, 5live World Football Phone-In and the Telegraph Cycling Podcast. They are all good.

Like probably everyone else, I always listen to Guardian Football Weekly. I also really like Freakonomics, No Such Thing As A Fish (QI podcast) and Radio 4's More Or Less.

For geekier types, I recommend Relatively Prime, which features 'stories from the mathematical domain'. Not uniformly great, but a few of the episodes are superb.

Not football or sport-related but Serial was a good, original listen. For those that don't know, it's a podcast that investigates a real-life murder from years ago that has a load of weird and unusual bits of evidence.

Non-football podcast, but Painkiller Already - hilarious and usually around 3-4 hours of content weekly.

Hat-Trick a 2-hour football podcast talking mainly of English football but not only Prem. Last night was about the new wave of football journalism (twitter, blogs, etc).

Often listen to Fighting Talk on BBC iplayer Radio. Usually Josh Widdicombe presents and he's quite funny at times.

Listen to near enough all of the football related ones mentioned already, would add to that the William Hill Football pod. Great for betting good for a laugh or two, too.

I still have all the old Ricky Gervais podcasts on my iPod. Karl Pilkington cracks me up.

Lately been listening to Angelos and Barry's podcast, also gets a few laughs.

Where can I check out this Football ramble, I'm guessing it's on iTunes somewhere?

It's also on iTunes, Zune, etc.

I listen to a lot of podcasts, I prefer them for journeys and exercising to music, they're more engaging and you kind of forget the activity you're enduring. The Ramble is my favourite football podcast, but listen to Football Weekly as well, mostly for James Richardson's punditry. Yes, that was a pun.

The original Ricky Gervais podcasts are easily the most entertaining I've listened to. Other than that, Joe Rogan gets a great guest for his show every month or two and I also listen to Americarnage for US sports (Mike Carlson and Nat Coombs).

Stick to Kermode & Mayo and Football Weekly plus a couple of NFL podcasts and that maxs my listening out. Can't abide Football Ramble, never found it funny or interesting.

Listening to Football Ramble now, not really found it too funny yet - main guy sounds a bit like Jon Richardson. Only 7 minutes in though so will listen to the latest episode in full and see if it picks up.

for wrestling fans Chris Jerichos is pretty good. a mix of wrestlers old and new speaking candidly about their careers

also has musicians on regularly too (last one was Lemmy)

Another football one I forgot to mention the other day was We Are Going Up which focuses on the Football League. Usually released fortnightly with an occasional live episode from a game, it's far more chilled than the Ramble but I like it to get a more in depth look at one or two clubs where there's an issue going on that week as they usually speak to a journalist from that clubs' local paper.

Joe Rogan, Football Weekly and The Anfield Wrap are all semi-regular listens for me. TAWs actually a bit shit but there isn't enough liverpool in Football Weekly so I have to make do. Rogan has quality guests now and again like Bill Burr and Shane Smith.

Ricky Gervais Show (still) for my comedy fix.
Screen Junkies for my film fix.
The Tilehurst End for my Reading FC fix.

Don't know if there are any podcasts that are Football League / Championship only, would love to listen if any are good.

Really enjoy podcasts just hard to find the time, only really listen to them when commuting and occasionally before I go to bed. May have a brief taster at some of the more popular ones mentioned.

So I'm absolutely obsessed with podcasts and listen to them constantly. Intelligence Squared, More or Less, The Inquiry, Mayo and Kermode, Waking Up With Sam Harris, The Economist, The Bugle (thank God it's coming back), Guardian Politics Weekly and of course The Football Ramble and Guardian Football Weekly.

But can somebody explain the following to me...how is this Spencer Football Podcast thing top of the download chart? I've listened to two episodes and it's fucking awful. Is this Spencer person dead famous?

He's popular on Youtube, I think he was the most recent guest on James Buckley's (Inbetweeners) football podcast, Dream Team FC. But it is actually quite good. More funny than football, but it is very funny.

Football related: 606, World Football Phone-in (the best), and Guardian football weekly
Others: Real Time with Bill Maher, Snap Judgement and This American Life (both by NPR)

Serial was a great podcast, brilliant host.
