Crawley look to have four starters missing, one starter a doubt and two others missing through injury for our first game v Bradford.

Of our back three, two are out!

It's OK though. We have just been sponsored by Nuffield Health so there's plenty of treatment rooms for them to sit in.

We could loan you Ash Taylor for the game?

We've also picked up a load of injuries but don't worry, we won't be banging on about it all season like the Mansfield fans.

Even so I’m sure you’ll still have enough about you this season to keep clear of relegation worries.

Our back three on Saturday will probably be...

Mukema Ransom Omole.

Mukema was playing for St Albans in National South last season.
Ransom was part of the Dover defence that conceded a shed load of goals a season or so ago.
Omole is starting his second year out of u23 football. He spent the first year with an acl injury.

I'm not confident about keeping a clean sheet.

Back up players are fine until you have to play them.

Sounds like Draper is having a good pre-season, Walsall fans? Suspect part of that is playing in the Irish season for a while and joining when he's already match fit.
Yeah looks very sharp and hungry with so much quality. Already a few fans getting ahead of themselves and worrying about losing him in January! But has looked a cut above and has already gone into almost everyone's preferred 11 over Jamille Matt (who looks completely shot).

L2 is obviously a step up LOI so it'll be interesting to see how he gets on this season. Very much doubt we'll bring him back in January unless something happens with House and Walker and even then I think we'd prefer to loan in than disrupt his development if it's going well.

Signed a new three year deal before he headed out on loan.

I understand that they don't expect it to be finished before the start of the season. Our first match is away at Doncaster then home to FGR, so a club not expected to bring a huge following. This is followed by two further away games with the next home match being Morecombe on the 26th August.

From the plans, it will be much better with improved facilities and an away capacity of 1100/1200. We are looking forward to welcoming you all to Wetherby Road. Why not bring the family? Book into one of our many hotels, B&Bs or holiday flats and make a weekend of it. There are lots of great restaurants, shops, gardens and places of interest like the world heritage site Fountains Abbey, Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Knaresborough Castle close by.

Is this ground work stuff that should have been done by the end of your 3rd season in the EFL to meet qualification? I understand you got given an extension to the end of the summer post season, are you on dodgy ground if not completed? I ask as I think our plan is to ask get our work done using the same grace period at the end of this season.

I would hope that former non league clubs get the same grace period we were allowed and they were so generous. We did all we could to get Kingsmeadow up to scratch but we fell short on capacity. Promoted to the EFL in 2011, we only achieved the required 5000+ capacity in 2020 when Plough Lane opened.

If you had to play Bowery at CB I’m sure it would be a talking point!

It should all have been completed by now but extra time was given due to problems created in the supply chain and with labour availability due to Covid. If it isn't completed we might be back to using an alternative ground for a few weeks like we did at the beginning of our first season. Looking at the fixtures, the league have been sensible with August scheduling Doncaster away, FGR home, Tranmere and Accrington away finally Morecombe at home.

From what you can see going past on the bus, it looks like a lot of work is still needed, but we have full confidence in the Weaver family to deliver.

I hope so too

Canceled our behind-closed-doors friendly with Rotherham tomorrow. Wonder if we've picked up some knocks or something.

Interesting.

Think Hughes just wants to focus on Crawley. Surely, the lads are fit and raring to go.

Admittedly, from a results perspective it’s been an indifferent pre-season, but I can’t say I'm overly concerned, either.

Rotherham would’ve been another tough test, one that I don’t think the squad needs 3-4 days before the season starts.

I was surprised when it was announced we'd be playing a game so close to the season starting. It would have been nice for Smith to get another run out after missing the last two with a bit of tightness but I agree other than that. Hopefully he's fit for the Crawley game as I think he could be great this year.

Heard that Clough has been going around snapping your CBs in training because he was absolutely chomping at the bit to try Bowery out there.

Tbh he’s been a bit of a godsend, pretty versatile player and has played in about 6/7 different positions.

That said, CB is most certainly not one i favour him, nor is wingback.

With one of the better midfields in the division with being top scorers last season it was the defence that hobbled us, i’m hoping the same doesn’t happen again this season.

Beat Oldham 3-0 today but a week before the season starts and we already had to play Jordan Bowery at CB. I cannot be arsed with another season playing strikers in defence.
Lucky you ;-). We had a 41 year old fitness coach playing CB on Saturday.

Mansfield beat Matlock 4-2 tonight with a team consisting of not one starter for Saturday’s game at Crewe.
