The only interesting one is Bristol City - behind closed doors!
Also playing a friendly in the town where I live which is handy.
Expected, Your players don,t like traveling. We’re making the massive journey over the road to play FC United.
Looking at flights and accommodation at the moment for this.Anyone playing someone interesting?
We’re playing the usual bunch of local non-league sides but have also added a trip to Italy for a few days to play Como from Serie B.
About fifty quid for return flights that I’ve looked at so far, still contemplating it, but Como looks beautifulLooking at flights and accommodation at the moment for this.
Should be fun!

Don't worry, on the evidence of this season you will find plenty of teams in League Two who play like Chelsea and Man Utd...can't claim to know much about LA Galaxy, other than it sounds like a bar of chocolate...which is an interesting analogy as there will be plenty of defences that melt when the temperature rises a bit.3 confirmed so far.
19th July - Chelsea in North Carolina
22nd July - La Galaxy 2 - In Carson, California
26th July - Man Utd (mixture of youth/fringe players) in San Diego
Hopefully we get some decent ones against similar kind of teams to what we will face in the league
No it hasn’t, I hadn’t realised when I posted that we may well be playing someone else over there. No worries, still a good tripHas it been confirmed that it's Como we're playing? I know the game is there, but there was no confirmation of opponent last time I looked. Would make sense as an opponent obviously but you never know in pre-season with teams touring all over the place.
Jealous of that, you have to get a ferry to the ground. Looks like a proper unique away day.Anyone playing someone interesting?

Expecting a repeat of last season, where most of the games were played behind closed doors...a great way for fans to get used to who they will be seeing play for the team in the coming season, catch up with friends and dust off the old songs...not! We only had one home game where they let us attend and that was against Newport, which was OK, but we didn't even do the usual round of non-league local teams.
I have a feeling that Big Dunc might call in a favour and arrange a game against Everton U-23's...just hoping he doesn't try and get Rangers down for a game, whenever their fans come to England they seem hell bent on a mission to destroy the place...which is a bit odd seeing as they claim to love Britain and all it stands for.
Agreed...the odd thing is that I thought we looked really good for the first 20 minutes against Newport, in the friendly that they did let us attend, played the ball around well with snappy passing and good movement...I thought we might be on for a pretty decent season. After 20 minutes the tactics changed to something different and we looked far less impressive, I wasn't too bothered by that as I reckoned we were just trying to mix things up a bit...which seemed a pretty sensible approach to a pre-season friendly.Total joke last season, set the tone for the rest, all this behind closed doors shite as if we were secretly trying out clever new tactics/trialling top players or something and didn't want anyone to know. As it turned out our tactics got us smashed most weeks + Burchnall the sack and the 'best' of the triallists Jacob Jones was nowhere near League 1 standard and couldn't even get regular starts when he was loaned to Kings Lynn in January.

I would love it if we went back to the old pattern of pre-season friendlies with games against the likes of Brimscombe and Thrupp, Slimbridge and Shortwood, to build up match fitness...followed up by a couple of games at home against decent opposition to round things off.
I would go for all of that except Rangers...their fans are a bunch of w*****s who destroy pretty much anywhere they visit, tried to do it in Manchester, don't want them anywhere near Nailsworth.Trips to Shortwood, Slimbridge and Brimscombe & Thrupp, home games against Everton, Rangers & Real Madrid would be nice.
Perhaps a bit of a generalisation but I spent some time in Scotland and my encounters with Rangers fans were rarely positive...maybe I was just unlucky...and, whilst I'm probably wrong to tar them with the same brush, based on personal experience I would rather avoid them if possible.Bit of a generalisation there, they do have an element of course but Rangers fans got praise across the board for their behaviour in the Europa League final in Seville last year, no arrests before or afterwards, even after they lost. And that was against Eintracht Frankfurt who have a big hooligan element as West Ham found out. Even helped with the clean up. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/foot...ille-behaviour-and-help-with-clean-up-3701250
I know a few and they are really nice lads.
Plus they would hardly travel in huge numbers or go on the rampage in a low key pre season friendly.
Forest have now been added to this list. Presumably it'll be their reserves like last year but should still be a decent crowd at leastWe've upped the standard this year and don't seem to be doing Basford, Carlton or Ilkeston and have upgraded to Boston, Telford and Stoke with a couple TBC. Matlock Town said they are playing us but that seems to have gone quiet which is a shame as I was going to take the day off, have a good walk and a proper drink for that one.
Scotland and Matlock sound excellent. We seldom make it out of North/North East Lincs. Sometimes we go to to the North of regular Lincs or a few miles into South Yorkshire but that's it.We used to go to places like Malta or Portugal, but frugal Mansfield visit Scotland for the weekend now and our best pre-season game is usually Matlock.
