1st pre season run out at Nantwich. Won 3-0 an OG, trialist (Adam Wilson), Sambou with the goals. Played two different teams, with 3 trialists and few youngsters involved.

We’ve headed to Portugal because we heard there was a lot of riffraff in Spain. Games against thou Baggois and Peterborough before we head back.

We won the friendly at Eastbourne 0-1. Passed them to death by by boredom but hardly created any chances. Goal was Appiah closing down the keeper. He claims it but I seen a report that it may have been the keeper passing the ball into his own net.

Early days so fitness and team shape are the most important things.

Having barely been able to field a team against Hibs in Portugal, we have now cancelled our planned friendly at St Mirren on Tuesday. In a reflection of this summer's transfer activity, this friendly has now gone to another club in our division. Northampton will get to experience the delights of a Tuesday night in Paisley while we move on to our next match against Billingham Synthonia (maybe Synners will agree to seven-a-side)

A trip to St Mirren on a Tuesday night always did strike me as bizarre opposition for a friendly, we seemed to have a staggered approach to opposition, gradually increasing in difficultly and then they slapped in St Mirren out of the blue in front of it all.

I'll bring my boots Saturday, might make the bench.

you might be playing and captain if any more players leave....

do you think Raj is trying to re-create last season's good start by having no players a week before the season and getting them all in late again?

We were due to play Celtic U23s this week, that's off and been replaced by a game against the St Mirren first team... :dk:

One good thing about the Undy friendly is I don't think we used any triallists. It's traditionally our first game and we use half a dozen, rarely find out any names. Rowberry seems much more decisive about his squad.

Totally pointless game.
Players have just returned from Portugal, probably knackered with it being so hot & then expected to travel again.
The right decision for me,we’ve still plenty of friendlies in the com8ng weeks.

Lost 2-1 to West Brom in Portugal somewhere behind closed doors. Anthony Georgiou scored again for us.

Sounds like the Preston team was fairly strong too. On the downside Davies, Burton and a trialist went off injured.

did byrne get a run out.
Yes, he started. It was one of those games with multiple subs so unsure how long he lasted. Hoping to see him in the flesh at the Warrington friendly this Saturday.

We're at Macclesfield tonight but the team is pretty much the youth team and a few trialists. I expect the first team will be out tomorrow at Kidsgrove.

After Hartlepool bottled playing St Mirren, we’ve just beaten them 3-1 in our first pre season friendly. Hylton (2) and Fox on target.

Absolutely battered Deal Town but someone nobbled the ref and somehow we lost 3-0.

I’m hearing GCHQ and MI5 are looking into it.

Putin would be my guess but it’s early days.

On a quiet night news wise, the biggest story surely is that Sutton started their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win over new National League side Dorking Wanderers, goals in each half from Donovan Wilson and Will Randall saw the U’s overcome a 1-0 deficit. Sutton pretty much it played a different XI in each half

I lived in Deal for a year when i was at Uni in Canterbury - but i didn't even know they had a football team there.

I’m not surprised they’re a very small outfit based in the southern counties east league, I’m not sure what level that is.

It was just (of course) a training exercise for both of us. Result doesn’t matter but I’m pretending it does.

Canterbury is a great city, a little like York, did you enjoy your time there?
