It will be interesting to see how the 2nd spot chase 'pans out'...

A little birdie has told me that the wonderful (thuggish) Lee Power wants Preston to go up, much for his dislike towards MK Dons.

So much so, no fewer than SIX reserves/youngsters look set to start at Preston next week to try and 'allow' for them to maintain 2nd spot. Or at least, keep MK Dons on their edge until the final match.

There 's still plenty to play for either way, with both sides (Preston & MK Dons) looking to get the automatic promotion spot - pending tonight's results.

What with Swindon pretty much resigned to 4th place, until the play offs come around, little is to be played for. Although still mathematically possible, it seems Mr. Power has accepted the play offs.

Please don't shoot me down, just passing on a message. Not trying to cause a stir!

If Swindon play a dogshit team against us then i'll buy Lee Power a Butter pie and a Tetley's.

We would still probably draw 2-2 mind.

Not bothered about Swinwon playing a weakened side. Doubt they would beat Preston full strength anyway.

Our entire squad is made up of youngsters so you might be right with one of your little theories for once.

Personally, I'd rather face Preston in the playoffs. I think we'll stand more of a chance of beating Preston as MK are so inform atm and score a lot of goals

Haha, yes! Indeed I may be right for once.

As mentioned though, I'm told these things by someone who's part of your matchday personnel. Player or staff, I obviously don't want to say or give away :2thumb:

Furthermore, with your position most likely to stay the same, it would also make sense to rest some players. Luongo is carrying a 'niggle' apparently, so may be rested, or make substitute cameos at most...

I just think that's a bit ridiculous considering MK are the most dangerous opposition. I'd rather and any sensible person would rather, MK went up than Preston. Not saying I believe this but that sort of attitude will definitely come back and bite us on the ass when MK wallop us in the play-offs.

This thread was created just to brag about your "contacts" again.

Pretty sure the promotion chasing thread could of had this discussion!

Not a brag at all. I'm merely sharing an insight from someone 'inside' the club and thought it'd be worthwhile for MK, Preston and Swindon fans (at least) to know about.

If the Mods prefer to do so, they can merge it.

Just a separate point to make, hence a new thread. But thanks.

Potential bickering aside, it does seem a derogatory move from Lee Power if this intention is fulfilled.

As in-line with Claudius, Swindon should be looking to maximize their points, given that there is no need to give up as it's not mathematically impossible to pip second spot.

What a dick! good to know football is about Fair play and the best team winning (if it is preston on the final day in 2nd they would have completely deserved it! and i will congratulate them!) Delibrately putting out a weakened side in a auto promotion race that after tonight if results go against swindon will be nothing to do with them is completely out of order!

We beat them with ease at their place in fairness.

Preston win tonight

We should have been 4 or 5 nil up at half time in our previous two games, we drew both of them 2-2.

A Preston win tonight is nowhere near nailed on.

Stupid thread

We are expected to play a weakened side tonight against Walsall and potentially against PNE, but for none of the reasons the OP suggests. We've had a lot of games recently and are merely resting a few key players ahead of what is likely to be a tough play-off campaign. It really is as simple as that. It's a risky move, as we may not win another game this season and could head into the play-offs badly out of sorts, but it is one that has been deemed necessary by those in charge at the club and one I'm happy to back.

Not the first time Scrumpy has tried shit stirring with his so called sources. Ban the WUM.

Ah but you'll have to beat one of us, Sheff U (or Rochdale) first ... ;)

We don't discriminate against WUMs here Mike, it's the 21st century, have some tolerance. They didn't choose to be this way.

Perfectly logical reason for us to put out under strength teams - guard against potential injuries/suspensions.

If that leads to PNE maintaining 2nd place is not our worry/problem. Do what's best for your own club.

Don't know why Scrumpy thinks this is some sort of conspiracy secret as it has been well reported that the club is preparing for the POs and will be resting players

What a lovely reception from some, nice inclusive feel....

No conspiracy here, just what I've been told.

It's hardly a surprise, as Lee Power is a twat of the highest order. Was told he doesn't like MK and would prefer Preston to go up in 2nd place, soz for being the bearer of such raw news :box:

And yes, today I did notice an article on Mark Cooper about resting players.

If it seems like shit stirring, then take it that way. No harm intended.

Still don't see what the 'story' is here.

If Power would prefer to see PNE go up, so what.

But, again, I'm sure we'd have more of a chance in the POs without Franchise there.

And seeing as most 82ers have spent the last few weeks sucking off the PNE fans, I thought you would approve

Bit disappointing.

Don't see the issue in resting players tonight, but Swindon's other three games could have ramifications on Promotion or Relegation. (Ok, maybe not Colchester)

If it was Robinson coming out with this before a trip to Preston with Swindon in 3rd, there would be Franchise murders going on in this place.

I honestly don't think so. Most fans would expect their management to look after their own interests first.

Anyway, we don't have a huge squad so I'd only expect Luongo to be the only major absentee

If Swindon intentionally throw the match against Preston fielding reserves then I hope we give Swindon our biggest hammering of the season if we both make it to Wembley.

Wonder what the all-time record is for the highest margin of victory in a playoff final?
