Some would say this is premature, but I can't wait for this game personally. Hopefully we bring in a manager with experience who can build a base this season to hopefully have a chance next season. This game is the start of an era. [emoji38]

Our second derby game this season, hopefully will end better than the first did. Rovers supported by a sell out 5,500 crowd to a 3-1 win over the knobbers.

No idea what the team will be until we have a new gaffer.

The Wednesday
Fair to play to Blackburn, taking 50% of your home crowd away is impressive.

Their cup final now Burnley are too big for them.
Or the fact we haven't played you competitively for over 14 years...

Cheers for that.

I hate these c***. On a level with Blackpool but these are actually relevant, Blackpool are just a joke.

Where abouts did you grow up? other than some of the older fans it seems only people who grew up South of the Ribble or East Lancs way give a shit about this one from a Preston perspective. This is as much of a derby as Wigan or Bolton as far as i'm concerned, I don't give a toss about them either.

Will always be the lashers, with Burnley in a distant second in the hate stakes.

Born at Sheroe Green and lived in Fulwood/Cottam my whole life. But my Dad was born in Clayton-Le-Woods and his side of the family live there/Hoghton which is about 50/50 us and Rovers. I also play Cricket for Hoghton and most of the team are Rovers fan and they are typical Plastics, all had ST's in the prem and now barely ever go on. I only know 2/3 Blackpool fans, I know loads of Rovers fans so this is probably a bigger one for me.

Ah fair enough, only Blackburn fan I know is my cousin and he's just a half-hearted glory hunter who hasn't been to Ewood in about six years.

Tbh, I didn't know any lashers until I went to uni but i've despised the c*** since I was a kid, must be my dad's influence.

These are the most boring self entitled bellends going, just a shame we are playing them when we are so unambitious and negative at home as I can see them scabbing a 1-0 win, even though they look utter shite this year.

It would be great to put one of them, especially as Blackburn have not taken 5,000 anywhere probably since they had Shearer so they're obviously excited by this one, but we aren't allowed nice things.

Not too assed about Blackburn at all me, personally. Although there is definitely a big 'derby game' feel about this fixture.
A few lads I know who hardly go on anymore, will also be dusting off their finest designer garments & be out and about for this one.

The mere sight of someone wearing a Lashers or Dingles shirt sends adrenaline coarsing through my body, and I HAVE to say something. I feel violated. Like they've just pinned me down and pissed in my mouth. A Blackburn shirt just doesn't stir up those kind of emotions.

For me, if we get beat, it'll feel no different to a defeat by someone like Reading or Cardiff.

1-1.

The older guy next to the lad wearing a Santa hat looks angry, doesn't he?

He looks like he's about to grip someone and give them a right good squeezing. Like those non-violent kids at school who were easily wound up. They'd flip, grab hold of you and squeeze your arm or something, tongue slightly hanging out of their gob, angry as fuck.

If ever there was a support that you would classify as being made up entirely of virgins, it would be Blackburn.

And maybe Reading.

We took over 5,000 to Liverpool in March.

You call us the plastics, but even with us in practically the same position and preston being the bigger town/city, we have higher attendances. Last time we were in the second tier we averaged 20,000.

Congratulations on your 12,000 crowds after 20+ years in the Prem and £250 season tickets.

We had £415 season tickets in 2003/04 (12 years ago, I know, and in the Premier League) and still averaged 24,736. Okay, maybe there's holes in this, the point is that we're the better supported team with a higher hardcore fanbase and less day-trippers. Guessing most of the people who went to your play-off final in May have disappeared?

After another season in the Championship, when your parachute payments end and your season tickets go up to £400+ like ours, we may be able to debate hardcore crowds. Until then i'll just look at the fact that you've lost over 8,000 fans since 2012 despite having cheap tickets and a sustained period in the top flight.

You're nicknamed 'Plastics' because of the amount of fans around Lancashire who started following you when you won the league, it's nothing to do with your core supporters.

When Preston, Blackburn and Burnley are all in the same position/ having similar success (or lack of it), there's pretty much fuck all between us in terms of crowds. Blackpool are just shitty, little minnows.

I don't understand how you come to that conclusion. We would sell out in the Premier League, I imagine every club would, surely? The thing is, you've had a long sustained period of success, while we just spent 4 years in League 1 and there is about 1000-1500 difference in the home crowds.

Without Venky's
1998/99 (PL) : 25,773
1999/00 (D1) : 19,253
A difference of 6,520 (including a presumed drop in away visiting fans)

With Venky's
2011/12 (PL) : 22,551
2012/13 (CH) : 14,997
A difference of 7,554 (another away fan drop)

In addition, we didn't lie about attendances in 1999, it's glaringly obvious inside the ground we don't get what is officially posted.

We've not seen success for over 5 years now and we're looking straight down the proverbial barrel, while you are on the up with an owner who cares.

Compared to what?

Our best teams have just been good second tier outfits who have completely failed when it matters.

We nearly fell into the Conference in the 80's and had to apply for re-election.
