Those results which when you think back to them still make you smile. Obviously those games where you win promotion are bound to be named for sheer adrenalin etc but there must be others as well, an important 3 points, a playoff semi, battling for a point with ten men, derby victory, you catch my drift.

Bury 1-0 PNE playoff semi final 1995.

Despite finishing 13 points ahead of PNE we were not the favourites for this tie owing to PNE having a slightly more glorious history than BFC ;-). The fact Preston had dicked us 5-0 at Deepdale three months earlier may have had something to do with it as well. Anyway we carried out a real smash and grab at Deepdale and took a slender 1-0 lead to gigg lane.
I can still remember the smell of the coffee, the sharp cold air and the noise created by both sets of fans in that second leg inside an absolutely packed Gigg Lane. Both teams had chances but heading into injury time Preston were chucking everything at us, from a corner we broke away and Tony Rigby ran onto a through ball with two Preston players chasing desperately. I remember everyone in the South Stand stood up, I could barely see anything through all those tall adults on their feet, but managed to catch a glimpse of Rigby as he prepared to shoot and then....pure bedlam. We saw the game out comfortably after that as the late goal knocked the stuffing out of Preston.
Hand bags ensued on the pitch between the players and in the car park after the game between the fans, but what a night for a young supporter, probably my all time favourite Bury game and that includes 3 games where we clinched promotion and 1 where we secured the league one title.
We chocked at Wembley but were promoted the season after along with PNE who went up as champions so ended well for both clubs :).

Millwall 4-1 West Ham in 2004 I think, one of those rare times we played them in a league game. We even missed two penalties.

Also the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace a couple of years before, we must have had almost 8,000 at Selhurst that day.

Alfreton 3-0 Luton 8th September 2012

One of the best best results in the clubs history. Sweeping aside a very capable Luton side with ease was incredible.

Alfreton 6-1 Stockport County 3rd March 2012

Demolishing a side who whee plying their trade in the Championship just 7 years previous was again unbelievable. One of the best performances ever seen by an Alfreton sie.

Mansfield Town 1-2 Alfreton 26th December 2012

Beating rivals Mansfield in a league fixture was just a pip dream 10 years ago so to actually do it was superb.

How many away fans travelled to Field Mill out of interest?

4-0 vs Swindon - 24th May 2015. Jermaine Beckford. That is all.

Actually, that is not all.

Leeds 4-6 Preston. What a fucking night that was. 4-1 down at Elland Road. One of the best nights of my life.

Nothing will ever beat the feeling I had at Old Trafford in 2004 when Paul Durkin blew the final whistle.

After being 2-1 down and a year on from the Man City robbery, it made believe that there was a God.
Oh, and doing it in front of the massive following of 8,000 Wigan fans made it even sweeter

Beating MK Dons at the hockey stadium in playoff semi final 2nd leg. At half time they were announcing coach details for Wembley, at full time they were in tears. One of the best away atmospheres I've experienced.

Shame we lost the final mind you.

We were actually in league 1 and it was when Paul Peschisolido was manager.

Doing the double over those perennial hoof merchants and near neighbours Stoke in 97-98.
Beating them again in front of 10,000 plus at GR a few seasons later when they'd finally managed to scrape back up to join us in The Championship.
Hammering West Brom 5-1 at The Hawthorns, dicking Sunderland 3-0 at GR,beating Bolton 3-1 at The Reebok, hitting Derby for 4 at Pride Park, beating Norwich 3-2 at GR after being 2 down with 7 mins of normal time left...
See,we did used to be quite good, believe it or not.

8000? I could well believe it in the days when you could just turn up on the day and go on the terraces but in this era of all-seater grounds, buying tickets in advance etc and the size of the away enclosure at Palarse I'm not convinced.

Oh we will.
If we go down.

If? Jesus your optimistic

Having seen your team over the last few seasons I would say it's a result of making 35 passes before getting to halfway and then losing your way

The faith in youth is a good thing but with small crowds unless you have someone like Nick Powell being sold every season it's inevitable

I do remember fondly the last game ever at Highfield Road against Derby who we duly spanked, plus the very first game at the Ricoh where we beat QPR 3-0 and everyone thought we had a bright new future playing season after season in the Premiership.
Oh how it all went tits up.

The 7-1 against Burton for me, we'd been cruising to promotion then had looked like totally ballsing up but had turned it around again before we faced promotion rivals Albion at Vale Park under the lights on a Friday night, the season was close to its climax and Smurf dropped prices to 1994 levels (the last time Vale won promotion) and was to parade that team at half time.

Over 10,000 turned up the biggest gate in years since the Potteries Derby, incredible atmosphere and seeing Vale Park and the Bycars packed was special (and actually seeing what noise could be made in the old stadium having not experienced the nights of the legendary 90s sides).

It all just came together that night on and off the pitch and the best performance I've seen from us possibly, we tore Burton to pieces and on the night would have panned anyone in the division. Hughesy got a hatrick and crowd surfed, was a night to be proud of the Vale and the night we knew the first promotion in 19 years was imminent. Often think back to that night fondly. To do that to a struggling side would be tough to do it against a promotion rival was phenomenal.

The half time was quality too with the legends of 94 paraded to all the old chants led by the great man himself in Rudge. Special night.

Great season in the main though, spunking fatty Evans Rotherham 6-2 then doing them away, smashing Fleetwood 5-2 away in front of a cracking Tuesday night away following, the long trip to Gillingham to win the top of the table clash 2-1, not bad for a club in administration with no kit or team the day before the season started and who were tipped to struggle due to having lost all our goalscorers only for one of our own to hit 33.

Good times but of all the memories the Burton one stands out.

FA Cup 5th Round 16/02/2008: Liverpool 1-2 Barnsley, Brian Howard with a 93rd minute winner in front of the Kop

FA Cup Quarter Finals 08/03/2008: Barnsley 1-0 Chelsea, Kayode Odejayi only scored 5 goals for us in around 80 appearances but he made sure one of them was against the holders of the cup in front of 22,410 at Oakwell.

Safe to say they still make me smile a bit.

Bristol City 3-0 Swindon. That was brilliant, the revenge felt so sweet.

More notably - Crystal Palace 1-2 Bristol City. PO semi at theirs - one of my first away games, David Noble 90th minute rocket from 30 yards nestled into the top corner. Fucking fantastic day.

We had over 7.5k there a few years back we had the whole side stand so if wall had that he's pretty much right

2-2 at Southend in 2012 play-off semi final 2nd leg. Got us to Wembley and it will take some doing to top it as the greatest night as a Crewe supporter.

A more obscure one is beating Bolton 2-1 at GR, around 2000/2001 ish. I think they needed to win to go into the top 2 ahead of Blackburn, we were fighting relegation as per. They brought a big following and went ahead through Dean Holdsworth, who was getting a lot of stick throughout. But then two late goals from a young Dean Ashton and that was that. "There's only one Deano!".
