Poor Saltyboy. If he's this bitter and sad at the UK's primary county reaching the quarters, can you imagine what he will be like if we win it? Which of course we fucking will. It's fate I tell thee, fate!

Poor use of subs by Southgate I thought. I don't think the dier change did anything but invite Colombia forward. Great composure by the lads for the pens bar Henderson who crumbled under the pressure.

Interestingly the Colombians on twitter are furious with the referee who cost them the game and failed to use VAR etc...

Erm... got to say not sure I understand that one! They’d have been down to ten!

Been pretty magnanimous has St Juste tbf -- it's that oik Saltire wot needs a good seeing to. Someone spike his whisky.

Has he where? Thought he’d be getting out his sugarless bitter lemon fizzy drink and demographic charts to demonise and terrorise our horrific underachievement by Only winning on pens

HARRY KANE THE ABSOLUTE BOY

GWAN JOCKERS MATE

Conceding at the very end of normal time was so unbelievably England. Then we do the opposite and win the shootout. About as un-England as it's possible to be. Fucking love it.

Roll on Sweden.

LET'S FUCKING GO PAGS MATE

LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE FUCKING BOYS! 3 LINES ON A SHIRT, JOOLS REMAIN STILL GLEAMIN!

GET TAE FUCKING FUCK BEELO AND FRIENDS YOU SET OF BLONDE CUNTS

Good point but he did score the winning penalty.

Three words lads...

NEVER

IN

DOUBT

Agree with GG on Harry Kane. But a shout out to the CBs tonight too. Walker was the speedboat that he was out there to be, possibly Stones' most assured competitive performance in an England shirt and Harry Maguire was a warrior. Was in a pub so apologies if one of them got slagged off for the corner by Ian Wright or Alan Shearer or Renegade or something.

Quite funny reading the posts of bitter Saltire (I didn't know he was Scottish until reading this thread) who's only pleasure seems to be hoping England lose as his own National team are so shit that they never qualify for fucking anything.

We are so lucky to have Harry Kane. The best striker in the world today. His all round game is just world class and as Portugal proved two years ago, it doesn’t matter if you’re not the best team, you’ll always have a chance with a genuine world class player in your side.

The thing is, regardless of the actual outcome of the penalty shootout it would have been a positive world cup for England.

As it is they stand a great chance of getting to the final, however, Sweden have knocked out good teams in the qualifying and tournament itself. They are no mugs

Well done, definitely Englands best performance at a tournament since 2006, at least.

in other words you expected a Colombia win and England to fail, you mug. Please refrain yourself from our QUARTER FINAL thread you virgin.

No bitterness, just expectancy. Expectancy of the inevitable failure which will come. Just trying to soften the blow for you lads. Its a kindness really, you should thank me.

Tbh they played far too conservatively even with James being injured. Once they went down a goal they were the better side. If they'd started like that a 3 - 1 victory for them well and truly could've been on the cards Shteevie.

They should have had the bollocks to attack from the off, in that case.

We were the better team for the majority of the game and deserved to progress.

Perhaps. Made very hard work of it though and had so much help from that inept ref. Ach well on to Bilo and Snorting's lot.

We always make hard work of it.

Colombia should have been down to ten men and were by far the luckier team when it came to refereeing decisions in this match. I suspect you know that, though.

Yep they should've been down to 10, but so should you too - one of your own club players got mightily lucky.

Are you talking about Lingard? He got booked for a foul, which was the correct decision but to suggest he should have been booked for diving when chasing the ball at high speed into their area and then losing his balance and falling is ridiculous.

Overall we looked comfortable and would ace won had it not been for a corner won from a wonder strike (and a great save) and then a brief lapse in concentration for the goa right at the death. We Almost played like it was a friendly. I’d like to see us play with a bit more intensity and pressurise the opposition a bit more. They were there for the taking and we made it difficult.

Great to win on penalties, though.

Now is time for 90% of the Scottish population to change their social media avatars from a Colombia flag to one of Sweden. Don't worry lads I know the whole summer revolves around you waiting for England to be knocked out of the World Cup but you're going to have to wait a few more days at least.

Really thought we deserved that in the end. We were the better team for about 75 minutes, although unspectacular. Colombia finally decided to play football for the last 15 & first time of extra time and were miles better. But that was it.

I really didn't think Colombia were one of those disgusting cheating teams though, so it it so f*cking satisfying knocking a cheating team like that out. If the referee had controlled the game properly, we may have even won that 3-0 as they'd have had too many players sent off.

I'm not normally one to rub in anyways face a win, but based on that last night, enjoy your long flight home Colombia, you dirty cheating f*cks :woo::wave:

Definitely one in the eye for overreacting and pathetic attempts to put players off. The behaviour of the Columbian players on Kane's penalty for the first goal was a particular low point and a fucking disgrace. I was so happy to win it just for that if nothing else.

However, it must be said Henderson didn't cover himself in glory with his reaction to the rather pathatic head chinbutt. Not quite Neymaresque but still. Come on Jordan for fuck sake. Should have still been a red mind.

It was pretty daft of Colombia to play in such a destructive and defensive fashion for most of the game. Pekerman was mistaken in setting out like that, because it's true that once they decided to play some football, they looked good and caused problems. Dare I say they showed us a bit too much respect?
