Former Bantam keeper with the super save to keep us in it, well done Pickford lad.

Yup, how the Colombian got away with the head butt is beyond me.
Fair point, but don't get me started on your lots cheating, and he didn't do a thing about it. :lac:

Can’t underestimate how much of a positive mental boost that will be for the players. Faced adversity for the first time and come through it pretty well.

Got some character haven’t we! Hopefully take that into Saturday now.

If anyone deserves to lose like that after a 93rd min goal hope and lose on penalties it's those dirty cheating coke head bastards, no sympathy for them whatsoever.

Youngest team in the tournament, and we go win a penalty shootout, more than we've done in 20 years. Fair play chaps, great start to this generation no matter what happens now. What an experience for them.

Winning a knockout tie was the upper bar for success to me, and we've done that in the most dramatic way.

Anyway, I'll shut up and get that stiff drink.

Loved winning on a penalty shoot out, a bit of redemption for 22 years of losing them. Don’t care we played shite for the best part of an hour up to that, they worked their arses off for that.

On a serious note though - f*ck me! We f*cking finally did it in penalties!!! With a mate at home and the entire time I sat there and didn’t move feeling very comfortable we would go out. When Henderson missed it was expected, just a matter of time. When they missed, meh - no problem, we will go out. Trippier scores and ahh well it’s just equal

But then my cool calm and confident nature goes when Jordan f*cking Pickford makes save of the f*cking century. I’m jumping up, eating my Bristol Rovers shirt, I can barely look at the tv.

Then Eric Dier scores and I fall to my hands and knees like I’ve done it single handedly looking like a bellend in my living room praying in a mosque

I always believed it we made it to the 1/4 finals who cares? And right now, who cares if we lose to Sweden? We are a top 8 team again

If we analyse the performance, I thought we did really well for 70 minutes, then went into our shells badly. First half we were the better side and had the better of the openings, even if they were mostly half chances. Colombia offered nothing dangerous, we contained them easily.

Sorry, but the headbutt on Henderson is just that. Yeah, he makes the most of it, but their lad forces his head upwards into Henderson's chin. It's a clear headbutt and a blatant red card. That was the start of their shithouse tactics, as they were getting dominated possession wise and knew they needed to knock us off our game.

2nd half they got even worse, but the foul for the penalty was hilarious. They learned nothing from the Panama game. Clear yellow card. But for me, the ref lost control at that point and never got it back. To be surrounded by their players for a good 3-4 minutes and only dishing out 1(maybe 2) yellows is a joke. Then Falcao could have gone for persistent badgering of the ref. Few other dirty fouls.

Colombia wisely stopped kicking us and actually tried to play, had a few half chances, but felt we defended superbly. The goal comes from a corner, which comes from their lad hitting a worldie towards the top corner from nowhere. He balloons that any other day. It was poor defending from the corner, we struggled with their 2 big lads.

First half of extra time we were on the ropes, 2nd half we had them pushed back. Dier has to score from that corner, it was a shocking miss. Redeemed himself in the shootout thankfully.

The performance was decent for the most part, we win that 1-0 most other days, especially when you are up against the tactics Colombia displayed during the middle third of the game. Defence looks decent and Pickford was brilliant given he had little to do, attack worries me though. Thought all 3 behind Kane were disjointed and sluggish, created nothing of note. Need more from those 3, Kane can't do it all himself up there.

But, we've come through a massive test of adversity given that equaliser and how we responded. That penalty miss by Henderson and how we responded. Great character.

As for Colombia, I hope they are crying all the way home. Their tactics were almost worse than Panama's, the grabbing, the diving, the feigning injury, the outright cheating. It was sickening to see them score when they deserved to lose in 90 minutes. They got what they deserved, sweet, sweet justice.

I am over the bloody moon, superb character and we didn't blow it for once. Maybe it is coming home? See you on Saturday lads!

Bring on the Swedes!

Hopefully won't make it as stressful..

Doubt they will be as niggly as Colombia were but again tough to break down.

Glad Henderson has recovered from the violent nuzzling he experienced.

Bossed it for 75 minutes, needed the second goal though. Naturally retreat as Colombia get desperate but it takes big character to pick yourselves back up from a 93rd minute equaliser like that for extra time.

I thought we started to grow back into it during the second period of extra time and arguably finished on top. Can't believe we've won a shoot-out though, unbelievable!

If we analyse the performance

Yeah. Let's not do that.

1/4 finals and never in doubt. It's almost home and that's all that matters.

Stones MOTM btw, absolutely brilliant. Took the ball under pressure numerous times and never looked bothered by it. Consistently played a forward pass through a tight passing channel and defended well throughout. He's been heavily criticised over the last couple of years but tonight he showed how good he can be.

Biggest challenge now is recovery. They’ve in essence got 1.5 days training for a quarter final. Fly back tonight (it’s already gone midnight there), no training tomorrow. Got all of Thursday and travel 3-4 hours Friday afternoon.

They’re going to be absolutely fucked after that one.

O, you came late to reply ;)

Anyway: i think the colombians were no cheating....they played hard nur thats not forbidden. It nearly led them to succed against England. Expect the same from the swedes Next round.

And, tbf: the only cheating....were henderson with his try to get an Oscar after that immense headbutt.

The Penalty were soft imho. Kane started the holding if i remember right.

But you need luck to progress from Time to time and Today it were on your side. So congrats

Wow, you're salty (with a little "s"). Worst day of your life, now that they even win penalty shootouts? ;)

I’m English mate not Colombian.
And as such oblivious to your own players disgraceful shenanigans. The latins may go over the top with their gamesmanship, but don't pretend you lot are saints and sporting on the pitch.

But not straight into their celebrations, Salty. It's a big achievement to win a penalty shootout after the heartbreaking equaliser in the last minute.

It's the World Cup and we've progressed passed Germany, Argentina, and Portugal. Feels like more than a couple of satisfactory demons being exorcised this evening.

It shouldn't have been 1 - 0 to begin with, the draw at the end of the 90 was only a fair reflection of the game.

You’ve accused us several times of cheating mate but you haven’t actually pin pointed any particular incidents yet..
