This could all be irrelevant anyway as Port Vale will probably unveil him as their new manager on Monday morning!

Russell Slade confirmed as the new manager, signs a three year contract.

Not sure what to think, but has to be an improvement on what we've had recently, certainly feel more confident about not being in a battle at the bottom.

He'll steer you to the top 6, he said to us at his very first fans forum - I'll get you to the playoff final, just don't expect me to win it! Sure enough three years later we lost another playoff final.....

He'll get the club pulling in the same direction - providing he gets full control and all that. Whether or not he will take you up - we shall see, but you'll be top 6 at least with him in charge IMO. He'll get a warm reception on his return for our friendly on 23rd July.

Fear we'll lose our two bext players to you now.

One thing I will say, is that he will probably divide opinion on his style of football. He does prefer the "stay in the game" tactic rather than playing an extra attacking player for example.

A better appointment than I expected from Charlton's board, he will definitely have you challenging in League One. The right kind of bloke to take you forward in my opinion, you need an experienced head and another foreign appointment would have probably been a disaster.

I would feel a lot more confident if we knew for sure the board aren't going to interfere, I guess time will tell in the next few weeks when we see what sort of signings we're making.

I'm not expecting to be anywhere near the play-offs so if we achieve that I will be pleasantly surprised, I'd be happy for a season without any relegation worries, finish around mid-table and take it from there. My expectations may change of course depending on who we bring in.

I'm hopeful his appointment may be a reason for Tony Watt to stay after they worked together at Cardiff, on his day he was one of the better players in the Championship so if we could keep him down here and keep him interested he will be a huge asset.

As for the style of football, it's going to be one of those seasons where performances will take second place to everything else as long as we're getting some results. The focus is to remove the owners but Russell and the team will get full support everywhere regardless.

Are Charlton in need of a right back? I'd expect Jason Demetriou to be interested in a move down in that direction.

A good call that. He'd jump at the chance IMO. Slade managed him for 5 games back when he first took charge of us in 2010 and offered him a new deal - but he went to Cyprus instead.

We're in need of everything!

Though yes, we could do with a RB, desperately lacking in cover for when/if Solly isn't fit which generally happens a few times a season with his iffy knees.

Just out of interest Charlton fans, and this is a genuine question, not a dig, but are you going to be attending homes games this season?
I only ask because I have two good mates who are Charlton fans (hard to believe I know!) and they have both said that they will be going to most away games but they are refusing to go to home games until the current owners/board are gone.
They have both said, and I quote "I refuse to put another penny in those c*** pockets".
They have both been season ticket holders for a long time as well.

No.

Have had a season ticket since 1997 and this will be the first year without it since then. It's sad and it's going to be strange having so many Saturday's free but I will not continue to put my hard earned in to the pockets of people who show so much disdain and contempt for the club and its fans.

I will be at almost every away game though, where I can get a ticket and will be fully behind the team at these games.

I suspect we will travel very well next season as I know a hell of a lot of fans who plan to do the same.

Well good luck.
Sounds like there could be quite a few feeling the same.
Hurting them in their pockets is the only thing they understand.

I've got a ST for next season, I'm actually a loyal fan unlike these fickle bastards.

Yes, stupid comments as usual, and Richard Murray. Always playing the victim rather than taking any responsibility.

You can go and get fucked aswell Lamby.

No, for describing fans who care for the club as disloyal. You're the one lining the pockets of the scum destroying the club, not us.

Further proof (if any more was really needed) that our CEO is nothing more than a lying bitch.
