If only the Tranmere board had've posted on here before appointing him. Must have been at least ten people that predicted this at the time.

Unluckiest manager ever if you ask me. Had to contend with wafer thin squads at Cambridge, Luton and now Tranmere, and always ends up getting the boot instead of a well done mate.

Not looked at the betting and he obviously won't get the job, but I'd wager Robbie Fowler is in the top 5 favourites as per everything vacant job in the Conference.

He's been applying for every available job down here for years. He must think it's weird by now that every interview he goes to has Gary Brabin, David Holdsworth and Martin Foyle sitting in the reception area as well.

Robbie Fowler's mentioned every time our job's been vacant since he retired. However, after the incredibly sane decision to appoint John Barnes...
Adkins is from Birkenhead, and good mates with Palios, so who knows, we can dream.

What about Russ Wilcox? Sort of place I could imagine him resurfacing, even if I don't think he's a particularly good manager.

Just wondering what Nigel Adkins knows about Non-League football?

Brabin is actually pretty good at getting the best out of a limited squad, which he's done with us twice. Unfortunately he doesn't know what to do with a budget or a big squad, hence why he fails at the bigger clubs at this level.

I'm quite glad it's gone tits-up for him, he's shafted us twice, with the second time being to go for his "dream job" coaching Everton's under-15's, only to leave them a few months later for another "dream job" at Tranmere. He's fast becoming a bad egg who no-one will want.

I think Gary Brabin has been a little bit unlucky in that whilst not playing particularly well in recent games, performances have still merited a better return than 5 points out of the last six games.
I would always of liked to of seen Jimmy Harvey involved at Prenton park, but perhaps I'm being sentimental!

Would Adkins really want to take a job in non league?
Well he used to manage Scunthorpe so he would already be used to playing in front of sparse crowds with no atmosphere so Conference would be like water off a ducks back for him.

I wouldn't fret too much, Palios has apparently indicated our next manager will have FL experience.

As one of the wealthier sides in the NL North, is there not some feeling that Dave Challinor should already got you into the NL?

If the good folk of Birkenhead can feel a tremble in the ground, it's Neil Young and his endless army of non-league shite marching on Prenton Park, preparing to wreck and pillage another club.

To be fair to Fylde, they were by far the best footballing side I saw at EP last season when they destroyed us. But then again they somehow conspired to lose to us at home when we were shite. Not sure Challinors really proved much yet. Getting Fylde promoted from the glue divisions would have been a piece of piss on that budget.

Dave Challinor would be a good shout as replacement for Brabbin. Was a decent pro and Learned his trade well thus far.
Just about taken Fylde as far as they will go!
His team's do play good football and though promotion for Tranmere is their number one priority so is decent football so his appointment wouldn't come as a huge surprise.

Challinor won't recognise Prenton Park these days. The infrastructure has improved since he was last here, but the mood in the stands and the standards on the pitch are worlds apart. If he could instill some of the spirit that the club had when he was here last, he'd do ok. We have a thing for bringing back ex-players and managers, he'd fit right in!

No surprise on Brabin.

I think all of 1FF knew he'd not get Tranmere out of this league. He sees himself as a Waitrose manager where he can buy all the nice, expensive things, but in reality, he needs to stick to Lidl and get the best out of £20.82.

Maybe so, we were unlucky last season. The play off final we really didnt play well. Saying that are team is miles better this season since going full time. If im honest I think he has to get promoted this season or he will be in trouble. Just a very tough league this year.

Our main concern would be if he joined Tranmere then he may try and take Rowe with him. Then that could be our season over.

He still believes he can get us to the football league. With the new ground and the new stand to go on that at the end of the season and the finances to go with. We feel we could attract some good players in the NL Its just getting out of the NLN first.
Either way at either club hes got the pressure of going up this season.

Lol, no thanks.
Would take either Cowley off Lincoln, Still off Dagenham, Hill off Woking or Moore off Eastleigh though!

Appointing Ronnie Moore again would be a step backwards. It didn't work out last time and he seems to have done a decent job of pissing off half of our fan base after he kept Hartlepool up at out expense. Time to move on from Ronald now.

Garry Hill is purely a southern manager - just can't imagine him being based oop north. Don't know why a bigger club than Lincoln didn't go in for Cowley when he was at Braintree. (Incidentally, according to a full-page feature on Lincoln/Cowley in The Times today, Braintree's playing budget for last season was 185k, with their highest-paid player getting £350 a week...)

As long as you stay well clear of Cooper, you can unsettle as many National League managers as you like. ;)

Wonder if Ady Pennock might apply?

Think that Palios is still in China and any appointment will await his return. Agree Ronnie's burnt his bridges, Cowley will stay at Lincoln till a better offer comes in and both Hill/Still won't venture north. I doubt we'd go for Cooper or anyone else in this league.
Whether Carden is still around for long is debatable. Surprised he didn't leave with
Brabin. Would be amusing if he played players in their correct positions though.

Have you met this guy?
