Poor result, shouldn’t be losing that on the day but they’ve scored their only chance and our lack of available forwards has killed it.

Annoying to lose when a team employs those tactics but that’s their prerogative. If they are one of the top sides there’s not much to worry about going forward

We need to be better with the ball and not give it away as cheaply as we have done today as you’ll get punished. Valuable lesson for us today which we have to learn from.

Yeah positive is we should have a few striker options from now on it with the West Ham lad, Willo back and whatever happens deadline day.

Got to be honest I was bored stiff watching that. Granted the opposition made it that way but we’ve got to be better on the ball.

Dropped points that on the day a bit like MK away when the opposition on the day didn’t really have to do anything to get the win.

Insane game at the Abbey. We made such a meal of it but finally got over the line. Burton's danger was from corners and long throws and we just kept giving them opportunities to sling the ball in our box.

Aye I felt for Ellis up top. He was working really hard but he needs help and not midfielders acting as makeshift forwards.

I would also say I never again want to hear any of our fans advocating Walker at CB. The lad is a damn good midfielder so play him there. I will just say I disagree with the sponsors choosing him as MOTM.

Want some cheese with that whine son?

Typical comment from somebody diving in on comments from a game they know absolutely fuck all about. It's boring.

We did not deserve to lose today at all and any Pompey fan saying we did is a liar. They were decent on the ball around the back but besides that, all huff and puff and no great quality. Would've been daylight robbery had we nicked the three points as we didn't test their keeper until the very end.

Referee was absolutely appalling. No point giving us double figures worth of free kicks if you're not going to give them the deserved punishment of yellow cards. Just let's them carry on shithousing their way throughout the game knowing they'll get away with it.

We're crying out for Wilson's return though. Lacking that movement, first touch and superior footballing intellect in the final third. Harrison works his bollocks off but gets no help at all.

Walker MOTM? Who voted for that? His parents? Nowhere near for me. Struggling put a name on anyone really. Suppose Smithy had another solid afternoon. Less said about Worrall the better. And I'm sorry, but after all the hype, you can see Small is only 17 because he's out of his depth at this level, sadly.

Wow, just seen the replay of the Oxford 'penalty' decision...ridiculous. And then the ref books Taylor who was nowhere near the incident.

Mental game at the abbey today and it just looked like a game we wouldn’t win, even when they went down to 10 men.

We shot ourselves in the foot every time we got back on level terms with very sloppy goals given away. Thankfully we have a forward in Sam Smith who knows where the onion bag is but fear we won’t have him for much longer.

On a more positive note, Eric the Oxford fan should be posting again as they got a win.

Great result by Fleetwood coming from 2 down to get draw. I cant ever remember us achieving this in the whole of the 9 years weve been in league 1. This is a testament to the manager and the players, this against a steady league 1 team. Be interested to hear from Imps fans ,their take on the game

2-0 win against Bolton, good result. Rode our luck slightly and hit them on the break. That’s now 10 clean sheets in 11 games at Home Park. Fortress.

Congratulations to todays referee for winning the competition to be ref for a day. Where do they get them from?

Sadly we weren't good enough to deal with P,smouths niggly playing style and the referee wasn't strong enough. It must be something like 50-60 games since we last had a penalty and there will be no clearer one than today.

Must get another striker in before the window closes.

It was a good start from us and two very well worked goals. We've had some good crossers of the ball in recent years but the Roughan cross was up there as one of the best I think I've seen, it was an incredible delivery from where I was standing.

Then about five minutes after the goal we stopped doing what we had been and started allowing Fleetwood to play balls in the midfield area and get into their stride, albeit creating very little. The crowd in line with Fleetwood's first thought it was offside but haven't seen a replay and I'm at the other end of the pitch.

Second half Fleetwood were far, far more direct, just pumping the ball upfield and hitting diagonals time and time again and targeted Roughan and then Robson at LB, making the game very scrappy and based on second balls.

Their RB in particular did nothing but moan all day. I'm not sure whether he thinks he's a decent player but his performance didn't warrant such an arrogant demeanour towards everyone, including his own players.

Not sure where a total of 14 injury time minutes across both halves came from tbh, unless the ref counted the amount of times he stopped play instead of trying to let the game flow.

If we win it 2-1, it's a battling performance and at 2-2 it's disappointing and frustrating.

As for the ref, that's got to be one of the more whistle happy we've ever had. Missed countless fouls (mostly on Hopper and Bishop), didn't stop play when a Fleetwood player played it off him, allowed Fleetwood to take an offside yards inside OUR half and didn't allow us us to get Robson on, despite Roughan going off injured and warned Rushworth for timewasting about five minutes into the second half despite a) not actually timewasting and b) not giving the same warnings to their players in the first half. Absolutely abysmal stuff albeit made the game a bit fiery and got the crowd further involved.

Just felt a bit flat from us today. Unusually in fairness but massive few days ahead with the transfer situation. We need a striker. Once Pompey went 1-0 up we had little options to counter their antics and barely created a thing.

Harrison battled well but with no other striker in the 18 we had no way of turning that around especially when we allowed ourselves to get sucked into their game rather than get the ball down and impose ourselves.

Defensively we dealt with their main threat comfortably… which is great apart from the one time they played a through ball on the deck and our back line opened up like the sea of Moses.

Frustrating afternoon and performance, if any side rolls up to Vale Park has one shot on target and plays like that I expect three points so to not turn up as an attacking force is very very frustrating.

As said though with a competent referee we get a penalty just before their goal and it’s a different game then but 63 games and counting, all will be ok though as we will get another nice apology letter again.

Brad Walker is a decent midfielder but not a centre half, Small is not ready for mens football and Conlon is nowhere near up to speed after his injury.

Hussey just hasn’t worked out and was a waste of a sub.

DC pretty much said August will be like a pre season for us, deadline day soon so from here on in we need to be settled and have a strike force to put on the field, next weekend is massive.

Radio home was depressing, last week all positive today we are relegated. Need to get a grip, Portsmouth have a budget probably 5 times ours and they’ve shithoused most of the game. Those are not the games that will make our season, next weekend as per last weekend are.

Need to get another striker in though. We ended up with a 17 year old left back up front!

Official Portsmouth Complaints Department

It has been brought to my attention that some of our customers have been less than impressed with the Portsmouth Experience they've had over the last two weekends. This is very disappointing as we value our customers greatly and always endeavour to ensure that they enjoy the Portsmouth Experience as much as possible. I will try to tackle (excuse the pun!) as many of the complaints as possible.

Bribing of referees / transporting referees to games
We are proud of our match official negotiating team and the work they do. Over the years it has proven to be more practical to discuss "buying" three points face to face with the officials rather than over the phone. The team coach is a great venue for this and so we've changed our match day routine to allow time to transport the match officials safely to and from the stadium. We make no apologies for this and expect our opponents to make the same approaches to the match officials in the spirit of healthy competition.

Style of Play / Shithousery
We always provide an opportunity for our customers to advise us on what style of play and formation we should use at your venue. I have spoken to Mr Cowley and on neither occasion did he receive any pre-match communication from either Mr Barton or Mr Clarke as to the formation they wished us to play, the playing style (e.g. Premier League Style) we should use, or indeed the level of Shithousery we should employ. Nature abhors a vacuum, and thus Mr Cowley felt free to make these decisions himself.

If I have missed anything out, please reply to this missive.

Good luck and best wishes from the PFC family!

No matter how big clubs budgets are in this league every away team will try to “shithouse” there way to a win away from home.

Even at 2 or 3 up they will try to slow the game down and use good game management. This happens across all leagues so don’t be surprised if the bigger clubs try it.

Agreed, despite fans of one particular club still saying we buy off referees (not very well, seemingly, as we commence our 11th season rattling around Leagues One and Two) all four promoted clubs have really improved these conversations.
Tbf you didn’t buy him off. He’s a full time employee

Do you mean the replay that doesn’t show the incident at all?

The penalty was for the foul on Matty Taylor. He is already on the deck by the time the camera pans to the penalty box.

Missed todays game but reading the forum it seems like Shrewsbury were in full shithousery mode. Fair play to them if so, got the point they were after. It’s ugly to watch but effective at times.

Apparently we were awful which is worrying. We’re still 5 players short going into the final few days of the window and 3 of our next 4 games are all away to: Plymouth, MK Dons & Ipswich. This is just after playing Barnsley & Pompey away too. Tough tough start to L1

Yeah, they out-shithoused us at ours, which I feel is no mean feat. But obviously we can’t really complain.

Complete absence of shithousing on our part today. Itself not a bad thing. And rather too much of trying to play beautiful football against a team far physically stronger and faster and quite simply much better than us. Wednesday easily the best team we've played, probably ever, in any competition. They thoroughly deserved their win and the big margin of their victory.

We still have a lot to learn....
