The only and even this is a case of trying to convince myself mitigating factor could be that Gibbo hasn’t built up enough match sharpness yet to play a wingback role if that’s what we are doing. Who knows maybe he may suddenly be something resembling a footballer under Darrell. I doubt it though.

Penalty scored by Crawley.

First time a forward scores for Crawley this year.

Was a pen but harsh. Also silly by the defender.

See what your doing here lol
Very tidy team Oldham, with some fantastic players. You presumably lack some grit and determination or you'd be pissing this tinpot league... certainly from what I saw of you in the League Cup... but we're kind of done for now and should be a nice team for you to play against. As we feel our way back into playing regular football, I'm not sure we'll be able to catch up to everyone else in terms of match-sharpness.

Gibbons isn’t ready for three games a week after so long out but play Smith there over Mills?!

All the positivity has just been sucked from the fan base with that.

Must be 4-3-3 as can’t see Mills as a wing back.

At least we can finish the game with 5 strikers if it goes really bad!

Worrying if 4 at the back Crookes and Mills at full backs. Jesus Christ.

Newport County
NEWPORT County AFC are asking to play games away from their problematic Rodney Parade pitch in their League Two promotion bid with the English Football League set to decide at a board meeting on Thursday.

The Exiles host Stevenage this afternoon, one of nine remaining fixtures on home soil.

The hybrid Rodney Parade surface was meant to be re-laid last summer but that was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Newport, who split training between their old Spytty Park ground and the Football Association of Wales’ Dragon Park, hope to shift some games and will present their case to the EFL in the coming week.

“We have entered into dialogue with the EFL asking them to consider us playing a number of games away from here to give the pitch a bit of breathing space, which is clearly what it needs,” said chairman Gavin Foxall.

“There is a fixture backlog anyway because of Covid and they realise that the pitch is going to be re-laid in the summer.

“Our concern is that we only need a downpour an hour before the game and it’s unlikely to go ahead. That would only add to our fixture congestion and we know there are very few dates left in the calendar.

South Wales Argus:

“We will put a case together that looks at an alternative venue for alternative games to give the pitch the breather that it needs.”

County have a block of four away games in their next five with their next home fixture against Bradford City on Tuesday, March 9.

“Sometimes you can think that it’s simplistic but there are a lot of complexities around it,” said Foxall. “There are a number of different things that they have to consider whether that is commercial, media, sporting integrity.

“They will need to discuss it but what is encouraging is that they recognise these are unprecedented times.

“It may not be agreed but the engagement has been very good. We will see how it goes at a board meeting on Thursday and we will see how it goes.

“There is a good relationship with the EFL board. I spoke to Rick Parry on my way up to Walsall the other day and our League Two representative John Nixon from Carlisle is very supportive of all clubs.

“Hopefully they will be able to support us. If not then we have engaged to try and resolve a situation that is not of anybody’s making.

“This is a result of the pandemic and the ground staff do a great job to make it as good as it can be.”

Expecting a tough game at vale today, it’s just one of those places we never do well, I can’t ever think of winning a game.

the boat game back for 10mins on Tuesday for the first time since 1st dec so I’m hoping we go for more minutes today, hopefully we’ll drop the may/O’Neil cm partnership as they are just to similar with hoolahan coming back in.

our keeper is just woeful, far to small and not commanding enough, for me is just a mistake waiting to happen, wouldn’t mind seeing a change at cb to with the young West Ham player in for okedina.

keeping everything crossed we can get the 3pts and with the fixtures coming up I think we need to.

1-2

On our day we are the best attacking team in league two no doubt, problem is we are poor at the back. Sort our defence out in the summer and we may be onto something.
As an Oldham lad living in west Cumbria for the last 12 years i have a soft spot now for Carlisle, really hope you can finish the season well, after today.
Should be a good game, either team 3-2

Forgot about Amoo missing as well; six key players. Ridiculous luck this season, and at the time where we play 8 in 4 weeks. Could cost us our league place.

Depends on what DC wants from the wingbacks I suppose whether he wants it more as a 5-3-2 as opposed to a 3-5-2. That said I doubt Mills is good enough do that either.

Should just say I disagree on Crookes. He’s done perfectly fine since he took over and did a nice job at fullback against a decent Orient winger. I’m more than comfortable with him in the lineup.

How does that work? Does each player marry his opposing number? If so then what happens when one team don't have a player with the number to match a player? How is it done? Like a moony ceremony? On the pitch?

Crookes has been excellent but is a centre half really. Don’t think play Hoolahan wide down there too? Let’s hope Mills has the renaissance Crookes has had or it will be a messy one.

Rovers line-up more or less as expected, Lloyd getting the nod over Morris, which is probably the right choice given Orient’s shift to a more defensive style.

Looking at both teams line ups, would be suprised if either team keep a clean sheet today.

Yeah he was fantastic in that LCB role on Tuesday if he can stop trying to hit every pass he tries 50 yards I think he can come good for us long term.

Birchy on Radio Stoke given everyone loads of hope there.

Sandosz: “So Chris do you think Vale can upset Cambridge today”

Birchy: “No”

Glad I paid for the stream now.

10 gamers get it free so may as well get my “money’s” worth.

Had we had Gibbons starting and fit enough to then I fancied us but we just look so bad with Mills.

Take six big players out of Cambridge or most sides at this level and it’s a struggle. Not like we are talking fringe lads is it.

Positivity gone and think a beating here.

Finishes 2-0 at Crawley.

Exeter made the mistake of playing tippy tappy football against us. We can cope with that. It's when the opposition use strong players we have problems.

Sending off and penalty were harsh but both correct. Watched the foul again and I feel a bit for the Exeter player who got sent off. Over the top but not by much. The defender for the penalty needs a rocket from his team mates. Not the sharpest pencil in the box.

Nichols scores after missing two penalties. If the keeper had gone the right way it may have been different. Nadesan gets a goal from the goal line. With his wayward shooting lately about the only place he could score from.

Sun comes out and we look better.
