Sorry Carlisle fans, my honest assessment of today is we didn't deserve the win but we'll take it of course. Very impressed by Carlisle in the second half; it was almost like one of those PSFs with 11 players playing the first 45 mins and then another 11 players coming on for the second half.

All I'll add at this point is that once Carlisle got the equaliser I fully expected them to then go on and win the match.
You’re having a laugh mate. There’s being realistic and there’s this....

Vanni are you pissed up mate? We battered them first half and it should have been more than 1-0. I think our subs killed our momentum but we got the job done in the end. When will you start to believe?

Late Cambridge goal aside that was a pretty perfect day for us. Certainly would have taken that this morning

Fine with me, I want to go up and I'd far rather have an away trip at your place next season than another bloody defeat at FGR!

Biggest criticism of our manager is his subs, can count on one hand the number of pre-65 minutes subs he's made this season when needed and he made two that we really didn't need to, Mullin knock pending, but good teams bullshit results and boy have we done that in the last month.

Huge Easter weekend ahead, if we can get 4 points from that and we'll be looking really good.

Scrappy game but we took our chances and Colchester didn't. Colchester were really poor and made Donaldson look like Ronaldinho.

My god we can be crap!

Where to start?

Wide open spaces, no tackling, inability to kick or head, touch like a bag of cement, headless chickens, no talking, no strength, mentally slow, bad coaching.

My god we can be crap !

If we do not get a midfield in the summer next season will be our last in the football league.

With Walsall and Colchester we had a glorious opportunity to drag sides into the relegation zone and put in shite performances in both to draw.

Some ground made up but we need more right now

I can assure you that you are no the worst team in the football league. If you were, you would be 24th.
Our season has been split into two. Since the break, we’ve been the worst team in the football league.

Poor again... very poor.

I'm at a loss to understand how a team can put together two such contrasting runs of form in a single season... don't think I've ever seen anything like it in all my years. Yeah good teams having dreadful games and bad teams having brilliant games are both common; but the same team with the same players being the best team in the division for one half of the season and the worst for the other half defies explanation.

Some people are still under the illusion that this is a blip.

it’s now 14 games since we came back after the enforced break. We’ve had 2 wins in those 14. That’s the equivalent of a third of the season. It’s relegation form. We are going to be in big trouble if we don’t improve the squad over the summer.

Yeah we battered them first half but what was the score at HT? 1-0 courtesy of a 45+2 min goal.

It's goals that count not how many shots/corners/possession you have. We just didn't do enough in the second half and very nearly paid for it.

We're a very good side but we only showed up for 45 mins today. Others will disagree and that's ok.

We played so poorly second half you felt the need to apologise to Carlisle fans? I know you're a half glass empty type of guy but start to believe for once. The amount of late goals isn't down to luck, it's a good habit good teams do. I honestly believe we are going up after that win today.

If we do manage to stay up then at least with Carlisle and Crawley the relegation places are sorted for next season.

An entertaining game which we squeeked 2-1 in the end, we capitalised on two poor Oldham errors with two excellent finishes from Dan Demp and Conor Wilkinson.

Oldham were as their stats suggested - Threatening going forward, but constantly suspect at the back. I thought we should've made the game safe to be honest, second half we had chances and with more care could've made that game a bit easier for ourselves. Had to endure a nervous last ten minutes as Oldham threw the sink at us and had a few half chances.

First half was very end to end and entertaining, but we again didn't seem to make many errors and punished the opposition for theres.

We needed 3 wins at the start of the week to be back in contention for the playoffs, we have somehow managed to do that.

As BigDaddyO said - Need 4 points minimum from the Easter games to keep pushing and to have any chance of the top 7.

Don't think we're quite good enough for playoffs to be honest, but nice to have something positive to play for as the season draws to a close.

Bought a one day Now pass to watch the FGR v Bolton match on Sky.
Omen for a bad day came in 2 minute when Matt taken off injured.
Bolton goal was a good one. Very good pass to Doyle who lost his marker and put ball in back of FGR net.

What was crystal to regular FGR fans who have been watching the streamed games is that TNL had been massively tied up with new flags draping the seats. They also tied up the flag draped from the drum base that has been at half mast all season.
That is about all I can say positive. :(

But being on Sky for 1st time, after game I watched F1. So not an absolute waste of money.

It's obviously not a blip, that's why I'm at such a loss. Blips and purple patches are part of the game. But as much as this poor form isn't just a blip, our good form prior to it wasn't just a purple patch. We're like two different teams, without even changing personnel.

Surprised Mansfield are so far down the league, deserved the draw today in an open game with both sides having good opportunities to take all 3 points.

Rovers are struggling without Vaughan, Nugent's only contribution when he came on was to elbow one of the Mansfield lads. Couple of puzzling decisions by Keith Hill, taking off Kieron Morris, who was arguably our best player at that point and not giving Danny Lloyd any game time at all, his energy can make things happen.

Despite creeping into the automatic slots, it is hard to see us staying there without significant improvement. Notlob looking nailed on to go up now and Cambridge keeping playing to every last second and winning when not at their best looked to have claimed another of the places. Anyone's guess who gets the last one.

If goals is your measure for whether we deserved it or not then presumably scoring one more than the opposition proves we deserved it? The logic doesn’t stack up mate!

It’s a huge win and I’m struggling not to get excited now. Even two draws over the Easter weekend would keep us in a great position.

Don’t think there was a lot wrong with our performance and not a lot we could of done with Mansfield’s goal.
Bolton have done us a favour as it turns out. Up to third, got to be pleased with that considering where we were in the table early November.

It was a great finish, but could we have closed him down more?

Agree we've come a long way since Jacko left, but even if Vaughan had stayed fit, you have to wonder about business in the January transfer window. There's a lot of points still to play for and have to hope for some rest and tactical adjustments to make the most of our longest break in a while.

The good news is I’ve once again took another financial windfall from the bookmakers crazy idea that Carlisle were favourites to win this match.

£400+ from the Cambridge win. It’s like taking sweets from a baby.

Laker, you're not the only one struggling not to get too excited because we all are. This idea that some of you on here have that I'm a glass half empty kind of guy couldn't be further from the truth. I've often said on here how sure I was of beating Torquay at Wembley while everybody else had already given up. Well ok, my optimism turned out to be ill founded in the end but the point still stands. I also got the 2014 promotion spot on: I predicted Luton and us to go up and I had predicted that before the season got underway and not halfway through.

I guess it's too easy to confuse a realist with a glass half full person.

As for my thoughts about today, why don't you check out the posts on our own forum, starting from 15 mins into the second half right up to Adam May's goal? I certainly was not the only one that was getting concerned at the time and fearing the worst.

BTW, I wouldn't read too much into posts made by HG and Shoddy on this very same thread. It's hard to take seriously comments such as 'we're the worst side in the league' and 'Cambridge have dropped from Premier League standard to merely Championship standard.'

Now I'm off to do what I always do what I always do after a game, and that's spinning some vinyl records.

BELIEVE.

Surprised you're not favourites to win it now. Points on the board have looked extra valuable in the last few weeks.

On form over a significant period going back to the end of January, we are the worst side in the league. I don't know whether HG thinks that this poor form outweighs our previous good form, I suspect he might if he thinks we're on for relegation next year and if that's the case I would disagree, but it's pretty clear what he means when he says we're the worst side in the league, I don't think you can really argue that we aren't. Right now we are worse than either Southend, Grimsby or Barrow.

I might have been employing hyperbole, what I was to emphasise that Cambridge's lowering of sharpness in the second half (and our raising of it) in no way made it a close contest. Perhaps I could have been totally straight and said Cambridge have dropped from 'best team in the division' standard to merely 'automatic promotion' standard, but then it wouldn't emphasise much.

Are you just mocking us for being shit now? I know a few people on this site think you're a WUM but I never understood why, maybe we'd just not seen this side of you before.
