Menayese goes straight back in when or if he's ever fit. Really surprised they didn't bring on that long throw merchant but it just sums up their approach to the second half.
Hows Rollin been for you?

Decent for me, though his two partners either side have been an aberration so even just being competent next to those two makes him looks world class.
He was brilliant for us on loan then went to pieces when Flynn took over still has 2 years left on his deal with us so wouldnt be surprised to see him back at some point.

Unbelievable effort that. Despite all the problems, what a determined performance.

I thought Tranmere came into it towards half time, so was expecting the kitchen sink second half. But it didn’t come. So comfortable.

I don’t know how we can go from that half arsed disjointed shit show on Tuesday, to that in the space of 4 days. But it was brilliant. With one fully fit striker.

We’ve had better more pleasing on the eye performances, but taking all the absentees into account, I put that as best win of the season.

Maybe *cough* Gibson being out

Don’t get to many games seen 4 I think last couple of seasons and he is raved at most weeks online then I see him love and he’s utter clart and a complete liability.

Skilful, can create but he makes tonnes of mistakes each game

Na Gibson didn’t make all 9 other outfield players perform like amateurs. It was a collective mess Tuesday, the whole team looked knackered.

Overall I’d say Gibson’s game has improved this season. Isn’t getting the goals as last season but he’s not surrendering possession anywhere near as much.

Another fully deserved win. Should've been more than one, we had numerous chances all afternoon. Including Aaron Drinan missing an open goal.

Paul Smyth really is too good for this level.

Salford barely threatened apart from set plays and a few breaks, they didn't really press us or put us under pressure all game, which allowed us to flow forward and create numerous openings.

The only criticism of us is we aren't ruthless in killing teams off, but we manage games so well.

Nerdford fans not happy at the end, lots of booing and finger pointing. Then Wellens and our players went over and wound them up a little bit more.

3 wins in a week, now we have our next 4 away from home including our game in hand - First time ever we don't have a home game in November. Will be a testing period.

Stockport County.
Red card for Sutton so early makes our game hard to properly analyse as you'd expect a comfortable win from that position.

3 wins in a row with 3 clean sheets, things to take confidence in, things to improve. Tranmere away Tuesday will be tough.

We were shit today but still had enough chances to score 3 or 4. Crawley's few chances came from our mistakes, including Gilliead passing straight to their guy on the edge of the box before rugby tackling him for the goal.

All we can hope for this season im afraid. Awful scruffy football, but stay in games long enough to potentially get something from it.

Hopefully still in touching distance in January, and pray for Raj to miraculously find his wallet.

Thing is I don't even blame the players for us being down the arse end of the league, we know and I'd hazard a guess that they also know that they're not good enough for this level, the blame lies solely at the feet of Paul Hartley for believing a bunch of Scottish players could hack it in this league and for Rajjy to sign off on all these signings, who bar Umerah and Oduor have been calamitous.

Yeah I 100% agree. It’s not their fault that the majority are simply not good enough. The lack of a serious pre-season didn’t even give them a fighting chance of finding their feet either, looking so painfully unfit.

If we can still be in the fight come January, it’s time for Raj to put his hand in his pocket to get us out of the mess that he put us in with his own short sightedness and attempts at penny pinching.

Swindon are a good side and we’ve defended poorly so I cannot pretend we are worthy of anything but I’ve got to discuss a major and minor detail, the latter being the Swindon players utterly pointless diving and theatrical acting, at one point in the second half Willams (who has been superb) pretended to be injured, jumped up to push our player then went straight back down pretending to be injured again.

The major detail is that was genuinely one of the most embarrassing one sided bias refereeing performances I can recall for a long, long time, I assure you lot supporting other L2 clubs that if that was your team today you’d be frothing at the mouth, never seen owt so obviously bias towards one side and I hope something can be done about it.

I’m not going to make out he cost us the game though, we set up wrong and defended poorly. The game was ultimately won and lost in the first five minutes of the second half, we had two chances and it was criminal not to score either, Swindon obviously went and scored instantly after to make it 3-2 and never looked back.

I’ve not seen a ref performance like that in years, whereas i appreciate swindon deserved it( that ref had decided before the game swindon were going to win.

It was almost comical, i was embarrassed for him - fat c*** that couldn’t keep up, misses late challenges, misses fouls right infront of him for mansfield but amazingly has the ability to give a foul from nearly 30 yards lol.

I knew at half time we had no chance and that he’d determined the result, i can deal with incompetence but what’s the point when you’ve someone so ridiculously biased and one sided.

Pressure is mounting on clough, it’s time he started winning again, this side is good enough for automatic promotion, sadly the lack of depth (which he is directly responsible for) is causing us issues.

I'd also add Sylla and McDonald as not bad signings but both of them should only be squad players really

Echo what you both said, the players commitment at least under Curle, I won't question that. As a unit though we are seriously lacking.

I maybe talking nonsense as didn’t see the game but don’t see much referee involvement in the goals. Of course a red card swings things but you’d never know with Swindon’s record against 10 to date.

100% Tranmere never took over for a second of that first half. The only danger was poor defending for two near post headers from corners and looking a little leggy towards the end.

McDonald is your stereotypical lower league winger. Quick feet, gets in to good positions but more often than not he is all fart and no shit.

Would agree he’s not a bad acquisition compared to some of the dross in the squad, but he should only be a squad player at best

We had two upfront. Not sure where this one fit forward lark is coming from?

What do they say in Liverpool? Boss. We certain did boss it.

The three Jack's gave everything out there today. Armer struggled a touch against the No 7 first half but he set that straight in the second half. Ellis was up and down that right line like a whippet. Snapping at everything. Finally Stretton. For a loan player his commitment is first class. He was getting lumps kicked and hit out of him in that last five minutes, all because he'd driven the Tranmere defenders to madness.

Special mentions to Charters and Harris. Taylor barely gets a sniff but he kept at his task all afternoon. Harris came on with his head held high and never relented. Fair play.

Final note about Simeu. What a shocker. I don't know if it was because he was facing an old team or not but his head was in another place. Never seen a player head the ball out of play so much. He got very lucky in the first half when Dennis was clean through and the referee pulled up for a foul because it didn't look like a foul from where I was sat.

There's a real togetherness with this team. From top to bottom. It doesn't matter who's on that pitch. They're all out there giving full commitment. They'll be mistakes. They'll be defeats. But the attitude can never be questioned.

It’s not about that, i enjoyed the first half and swindon are, like us a top quality side / they played some brilliant stuff and were well supported in decent numbers that made decent noise even when behind.

What i ask for is for an official that’s fair, someone who gives us what he gives to them, someone who doesn’t give blindingly obvious fouls for us but then will give fouls for swindon when 20 yards away as he’s too fat to keep up, he was embarrassing to his profession

This isnt a smoke screen to hide yet another poor performance from us or taking anything away from the swindon win, however we never had a chance with him today, he was ridiculous.

Our goal was the 3rd time in the game we had a 1 on 1. I'm beginning to wonder if we have received an EFL directive that permits us 1 goal per game. Their free kick was not Gillieads fault. He should not have been given the ball when 3 opponents were close by. This playing out from the back every single time is ridiculous and opponents are clearly prepared for it. We need to have a mixture and in any case, 4th division defenders are unable to do it quickly enough. We were poor today and at times downright sloppy. Even so, we had enough chances to win 2 games.

We play the ball carefully out to about 3/4 of the way up the pitch, then we carefully play it all the way back to our keeper and then repeat it again and again until someone fucks up and the opposition score.

Then we start again and carry on till full time.

6 goals this season, just 1 from open play.

We could have won 6-0 and it wouldn’t have been undeserved. Salford were pedestrian and woeful & only a combination of some excellent saves and missed open goals kept them remotely in the game. For a side that have enjoyed the most possession in the EFL before today they didn’t have a clue what to do as we played them off the park. Paul Smyth’s goal is a thing of outstanding beauty - well worth a watch. There isn’t a better player in the division, unquestionably. Happy days.

Crewe to be fair to them came and attacked, but were feeble up front and had a short bloke at the back who got bullied by Josh Gordon. Given that we've invariably been shit against relegation strugglers for the past 3 seasons, they might just be the worst side we've faced in League 2.

The giant keeper clearly doesn't fill his defence with any confidence and nearly chucked one in his own net - not at fault for the goals though.

Gordon had his best game in a while and Whitfield just continues to be astonishingly good - another couple of assists today, I think. Another winnable game on Tuesday too, and we just cruised most the second half so players should be rested. A good week for us.

No we didn’t. We started Dennis as the central striker and Stretton as the right winger.

So that’s where this “one forward lark” came from in my post at half time.
